First Day of the NEW Stampin' Up! Catalog!!

WOO HOO!! I am so excited!!
Contact me if you have any questions

NOW...on to the cakes I made in the month of March...

Only two birthdays this month.  This first one is for my friend, Laura, who turned 16 years old.  Perhaps you remember THIS POST  of the birthday card that I made for Laura.  Laura plays the piano on occasion for the prelude at church so I knew that making a piano cake would be a winner.
I had extra cake batter left over so thought it would be fun to make some cupcakes and have a chance to decorate them using the Rosette Die and the Big Shot.

This second cake is for little Julia who turned four years old.  I made a butterfly cake for her last year, and she wanted another one this year.

Have a Sweet Day!!

You Send Me Soaring

Thursday, March 29, 2012
It is Thursday and our day to play! -  stamping with friends is the BEST!!

I thought I would share with you some more cards that Rachel worked on for me
last week.  I really appreciate how she loves to lend a hand.

I love the simplicity of this one that was inspired by a sample I saw at Leadership.

This card has an overlay of vellum which lends a very sharp look.

Here's another card inspired by samples at leadership and is a 3x3 size -
perfect for adding a little note to the orders that are placed.
The added sparkle on the clouds is made by using Dazzling Details
a type of glitter glue.  I love it!  It comes in this clear and in a
Cherry Cobbler color #125585 for only $2.50.
SEND ME SOARING #125440 wood mount $23.95
#125442 clear mount $18.95

We are really going to miss Rachel today.  Her hubby was admitted to the hospital
again for an infection in his previously injured leg.  Poor guy, this has been quite the
challenge for their whole family.  Our prayers are with you Rachel!!

Thanks For Stopping By!

Have a Blessed Day!!

Easter Card

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

As I am preparing for Easter this year I am more excited than some years as our Pastor is just finishing up on a series preaching through the book of John.  What a wonderful reminder of Christ's sacrifice on my behalf.  I am simply amazed by His grace.

Here is the Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge for this week...

A Butterfly!  Perfect!! because I just bought this new stamp set called Flores Suaves from the Celebrando Creatividad - Stampin' Up!'s Spanish catalog.  This is the only set I found in there that is not duplicated in the English Catalog and Idea Book.  While chatting with another Demonstrator at Leadership in January I commented that I loved the butterfly on her card but didn't recognize the stamp set.  I have been itching to use it and this was a perfect chance to give it a try.

I stamped the butterfly on Designer Paper using Versa Mark Ink and Black Embossing Powder
The Designer Paper I used is called Paisley Petals #122367 $10.95  Love it?? Get it while you can - When the catalog retires June 1, 2012 it will no longer be available.

I thought a cute card needed a cute little purse to go with it.
The little purse is a sneak peak at a new die coming out on April 1st.
It will also be available in the new catalog that comes out June 1st, but if you want
to get it BEFORE the catalog goes public now is your chance.

I can't wait to try more ideas with this fun die

Hop on over to the Red Hot Stampers blog to see what
the other gals created with this weeks sketch challenge

Easter Gifts

Saturday, March 24, 2012
Are you looking for some fun Easter gifts to give to your family or friends?
Check out what I have been up to.

These are two of the boxes that we made at this months Project Class

This first one I found the pattern on Split Coast Stampers ages ago.
I used the stamp set called Everybunny #121919 wood mount $18.95
or #121988 clear mount $14.95.
I also used the stamp set called It's A Wrap Holidays #122772 clear mount $19.95
to wrap the Hershey Chocolate Nuggets.
Small Cello Bags #103104 $3.95 (50)
Early Espresso Ribbons, 1/8" Taffeta and 5/8" Satin

This cute bunny box was copied from Kay Sha's blog (creationsonpaper.blogspot.com)
It uses the Scallop Envelope Die #113462 $21.95 and MANY punches.

So if you live in or near this area (Hudsonville, MI) please feel free to contact me (christiwaite@gmail.com) and arrange a time for you to stop by.  Or if you do not live in my area and are still interested in any of these items I will gladly ship them out to you.  I will calculate shipping accordingly.
Here are a few more fun items...
This cute bunny I saw on Jackie Topa's blog (www.jackietopa.com)  She made hers into a card so the heart is laying on it's side - very cute, but I wanted to make it into a box.  I used the retired die called Petal Card and gave it a ribbon handle so I can choose to hang it on a bedroom door knob for someone to find on Easter morning.  This, too, uses a variety of punches.

Here is an inside view... yummy Rolos!!
and this is the Petal Card Die I used...
This fun purse could hold a variety of treats for an Easter treat.
These little chick treats were inspired by Michelle
 inside...
 And these cute bunnies are...
 Gift Card Holders!!
I copied these from Glenda http://thestampcamp.com/blog/!!
Thanks everyone for all the fabulous ideas!!
I had fun making them up.
I have a variety on my table for sale, and I will gladly take orders
if you see something you want and need more.

Play Day part 2

Friday, March 23, 2012
Time to show you the cards that Rachel made last week on our Thursday Play Day

I had several cards pre-stamped and ready to assemble.  Rachel chose to work
on the cards using the stamp set SEND ME SOARING.
After all, I DID borrow that stamp set from her in the first place :)

This first card is a 3x3 size and was a sample at Leadership in January

These next two cards were inspired by Shawn Crawford.

Can you see the difference between the first picture of all three cards
together an these individual cards?
The little birdies were missing :(

Rachel also owns the stamp set "Up Up And Away" - (the one with
all the hot air balloons) - and so she came again yesterday to play and stamped the little birds on.
See... now you know why I couldn't post her cards first.
BTW: Rachel has a blog too!  Why not click over to her site to see what she's been up to

MENU:
SS: Send Me Soaring (kites), Up Up And Away (birdies),
Inspired By Nature (grasses)
CS: Whisper White
INK: Tempting Turquoise, Staz On Black, Cherry Cobbler, Pacific Point,
Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Bashful Blue, Old Olive
PUNCHES: Scallop Circle, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border

Play Day!

Thursday, March 22, 2012
Thursdays are fast becoming my favorite day of the week!
WHY??
Because that is the day that my gal pals come to play in my craft room with me!

Sometimes they bring their own projects with them to work on
and sometimes they just come to visit and are willing to work on any
of the many projects that I always have going.

Last week Rachel was the only one who could come
NO PROBLEM!
She brought baby Owen with her so I got a chance to snuggle with a newborn
and Rachel pitched right in to work on some cards that I pre-stamped.

FIRST I will show you the card I worked on while she was here.
(I'm not being selfish, you will understand tomorrow why I didn't show
Rachel's cards first.)

I am so thankful to have friends of all ages in my life.
This will be an especially fun card to send to my college gals.

MENU:
SS: You're My Type, A to Z Background
CS: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, First Edition DSP, Vellum
INK: Staz On Black, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Simply Scored Tool, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Small Heart Punch, Basic Rhinestones, X-acto Knife, Sponges
*Instead of using the Color Spritzing Tool, I mixed a portion of Silver Foil Smootch Spray with Rubbing Alcohol and just spritzed it.  It was much easier
*Inspired by: Doris Denman
*Thank you to Rachel for loaning me her Stamp Set.

Thanks For Stopping in Today and don't forget to check in tomorrow and you will see
the cards Rachel made while she was here and it will explain everything,
but for now...

Happy Thursday!!

Beyond The Garden

Wednesday, March 21, 2012
Last year at Convention I swapped for this adorable treat and wanted to make some up for the craft sales that we participate in.
Much to my chagrin they did not sell.

                                           Now what to do?

I pulled them apart, pitched the sunflower seeds, then wrapped some Hershey Chocolate Nuggets with BEYOND THE GARDEN Designer Paper

So we will try once again to see if these pretty Top Note Headers will sell.

...and the dish ran away with the spoon

Last Saturday I helped our son, Joey, and his fiance, Melissa, with their wedding invitations so it got me in the wedding theme mood so thought I would share this fun wedding card I made a while back when I was borrowing my friend, Rachel's, stamp set called NURSERY TIMES.  I thought this was a fun card and a great break from the serious lovey/dovey cards you normally see for weddings.

The words were stamped on a window sheet (clear acetate) with Black Staz On Ink
It is attached behind the card stock image only.
Card Stock colors: WW, Night of Navy
INK: Early Espresso, Marina Mist
Other: Ticket Corner Punch, Mini Brads, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Oval from the
Embossing Folder Set, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Early Espresso and Marina Mist
Card Inspired By Shoni Matney

Leprechaun trails

Monday, March 19, 2012
On the eve of St. Patrick's Day I went to our daughter's house after the kids were in bed (and hopefully sleeping) to lay out some Leprechaun Trails.

Let me back up... Last week Monday when I picked Gracie (6) up from school she was all excited because when she went back to school on Wednesday they were going to search for Leprechauns.
When I picked her up from school on Wednesday I asked her if she found any Leprechauns and she said "they were only paper" (with a big sigh and huge disappointment).  It got me to thinking about something small I could do to make St. Patrick's Day fun for both Gracie and Tyler (9).

I made out this little poem(ish) thing for them to find when they woke up telling what a Leprechaun looks like and that they really do not want to be found,

then I set out tiny little foot prints that I punched out of White, Black, Green and Gold card stock. Thanks to my friend Sue who had this tiny little punch and helped me punch out a bunch of these teeny tootsies.
At the end of the foot print trails they found some gold foil wrapped chocolate coins and some real money coins (probably totaling only $1 each).

The kids had a big day that day at their school carnival, but having this fun little bit of St. Patrick's Day lore to start their day was an extra bit of fun.  Julie said that Tyler had it pegged as Gramma who did it, but he didn't care - they both just thought it was fun.

Walk By Faith

Friday, March 16, 2012
There is a gal at our church who has had to be off her feet for a while now trying to ward off surgery on her feet for multiple problems.  She was able to come to our Women's Retreat last weekend and was one of the ladies who gave her testimony about what God is doing in and through their lives.  This is always a highlight of the weekend.  After the weekend was done and I could breathe a sigh of relief I wanted to make a card specific to her situation.  What better to use than the Build A Bear Die.  Inside I told her how thankful I was that we don't need our physical feet to "Walk By Faith."

So here is a shout out to all of us to remember to "Walk By Faith and not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7
"Fixing our eyes on the Author and Finisher of our Faith."  Hebrews 12:2

Projects Class

Thursday, March 15, 2012
It seems as though my Techniques Class and my Big Shot Class were kind of melding into one so instead of coming up with ideas for both classes I decided to mix them together and call it a PROJECTS CLASS.  I love doing techniques so we will still do new techniques and I love using my Big Shot to make fun treats, boxes anything crafty as well as using it for dry embossing and cutting things out with dies and the wonderful new FRAMELITS.  So you will see a little of everything during these classes.  I thought I would show you what I had lined up for next weeks PROJECTS CLASS on Monday, March 19th at 7:00 PM, so if you want to come please let me know by Sunday night (March 18th).  Cost for this class is $12.00

Here's your sneaky peaky...

Thanks to wonderful Stampin' Up! Demonstrators like Kaysha (Creations on Paper),
Andrea Wolford, and Jessica Urrutia who post fun ideas for us to use

When you sign up for this class please let me know if you want to make the Boy Bunny Easter Box or the Girl Bunny Easter Box.  The $12.00 cost of the class only includes one of those plus the other  Easter Box and the Treat Holder.

Women's Retreat

Wednesday, March 14, 2012
Remember the picture of the day from yesterday?  Did you guess what it was?
This was the carpet in the meeting room where our Women's Retreat was held.
 AND...
Just as I promised I am going to show you the favors that we made for our Women's Retreat for our church.  This is such an amazing weekend, immersed in the Word of God, and fellowship with the women of our church body and several friends and family members who were invited to join in the weekend.

The theme of our weekend was CONSIDER HIM from Hebrews 12.

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

We start in September preparing the details for the retreat.
We are given the name of our speaker, and what she will be speaking on and we wrap our decorations and favors around all this.

Each year we hand out an evaluation form and we laugh at how often the ladies will write down  "We need more chocolate"  This came on the tails of changing locations due to our increasing numbers and not able to have each lady bring in a baked good to share.

We decided to give these ladies more chocolate than they could imagine.

It started out right from the beginning when they received their invitations to attend the retreat, wrapped around a chocolate candy bar

Each lady was given a beautiful bag (this photo doesn't do it justice)
A booklet with the sessions and schedule in it, a pack of tissue, and an ink pen.

The room is decorated beautifully with donated tulips
(can you tell our color scheme is red and brown?)

Fresh, cold water on hand at all times

Games on hand for Friday evening for those who like the late night hours.

Using the stamp set EAT CHOCOLATE we decorated a Petal Cone and filled it with a variety of chocolates.  Using the Retired Wheel called CHOCOLATE CHIP we made fun 'cookies' to adorn the Chocolate Chunk scented hand sanitizer holder.

When the ladies arrived they found these Hershey Nugget Trays on their beds

The dark chocolate mint scented candles were their favor at their seat
Friday evening after a delicious dinner.

We made cute little dessert boxes for the ladies filled with cake balls, mini cookies,

trail mix, and a home made peppermint patty.

We even decorate the band of the water bottles and supply a variety of
Crystal Light flavor packets.

Half of the tables were decorated with these beautiful red glass candle globes - and who thought you could make it intriguing by adding some dried out branches and red berries?  Some Kisses rounded out the look - gotta love the extra chocolate touch.

The other half of the tables were decorated with these darling lanterns.  We usually use a lot of candles in our decorating to give the room a warm feeling.

And here is a photo of the ladies who attended this years retreat.  We are so thankful to serve on this fabulous committee, but also thankful this busy time is done.  come September we will be glad to get going on next years retreat.  So for now...

Thanks For Stopping By!
