Lucky Leftovers

Thursday, April 26, 2012
Today I am playing with my sisters so my friends had to take a week off.
I know I will miss my time with my friends,
but I also know that being with my sisters always takes a high priority.
Check in tomorrow to see what we sisters are up to this weekend.

So for today's post I thought I would show you two of the cards that "Friend Rachel"
made with the leftover designer paper scraps that I sent home with her the week before
so when she came last week she brought these to show us what she did with them.

I love watching Rachel create and so thankful that she put these pieces to good use
She used the stamps sets SHORT AND SWEET (which is on the retired list) and
SWEETS FOR THE SWEET.

Don't forget to check out the retired lists by clicking on the links below...

CHECK OUT ALL THE RETIRED LISTS!!

Wednesday, April 25, 2012
The Retiring Lists are all out and here are the links to check them all out.

When you look at the retired accessories list, you'll note that all of our Stampin' Pads are listed. This is for two reasons: (1) Craft Stampin' Pads will now only be available in black and white; and (2) we are introducing a new Firm Foam pad in our Classic Stampin' Pads with the 2012-2013 annual catalog.
The Firm Foam pads offer better ink coverage and, in turn, better stamped images. They will be available for customer order on June 1.
In addition, please note the following changes in the new catalog, which explans some of the products being on the retired list:
  • Only select Stampin' Write Markers will be available individually (Stampin' Write Markers in color collections will continue to be offered)
  • 12" x 12" Textured Card Stock will no longer be offered.
  • 12" x 12" Smooth Card Stock will only be available in select individual colors and color collections.
  • Any item with an asterisk next to it is being reconfigured.  An example of this could be repackaging, as in the example above of the markers.
  • Other than the retiring 2010-2012 In Colors, the Stampin' Up! colors are NOT retiring.
IMPORTANT CORRECTION:
Two items that were included on the Retiring Accessories List are not actually retiring. We have updated the lists to remove these items.
208    108360    Craft Scissors
208   103579    Paper Snips

I have been saying that I am excited to see the new catalog and now more than ever because there are sooooo many things retiring.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY AND CHECKING IT ALL OUT!

Paisley Petals Butterfly

Monday, April 23, 2012
On my quest to use up some retiring Designer Series Paper I ran across this card idea by Kirsteen Gill, and knew that I had a couple packages of the PAISLEY PETALS Designer Paper on hand.

This is actually a very simple sketch made elegant by this beautiful Designer Paper.
I also love the multiple layers of the Butterfly to really set it off.

MENU:
SS: Kindness Matters
CS: WW, Marina Mist, Paisley Petals DSP
INK: Marina Mist
Accessories: Beautiful Wings Die, Big Shot, Organza Ribbon, Dimensionals,
Basic Pearls, Linen Thread

I had several pieces of the Designer Paper left over so I sent them home with Rachel
and lookie what she came up with...

This is the flip side of the Designer Paper
Pretty isn't it!!  Sometimes it is hard to choose which side to use.

Time for another Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge!
This is the sketch we had to work with for this week...

When Melina (11 yrs old) came last Monday morning for breakfast she asked
if I had any sketch challenges to work on, so we looked up the one for today and
when I asked her what she thought, she said "it looks like a picture frame."
PERFECT!
I had a photo sitting on the kitchen counter of Dale with the grand kids on our walk
to the Nature Center during Spring Break.
So we figured out how to incorporate it in to the sketch challenge

And this is what we did with it...
The bottom left I stamped using the Spanish Stamp Set called FLORES SUAVES,
and NATURES WALK (which I am happy to say is NOT retiring).
COLORS: Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz

Okay, what am I going to do with a card that has our pictures on it?
So I cut the back off and added it to 12 x 12 scrapbook page,
incorporating more of the photos that we took that day.

I had some leftover photo negative strips made from Basic Black Card Stock
and the (retired) Spiral Punch.  Rachel calls these LUCKY LEFTOVERS!!

For the 12 x 12 Designer Paper I started with a piece of Pear Pizzazz DSP from the IN COLOR paper pack (the sheet that has all the little words on it) then stamped images from NATURES WALK stamp set in Pear Pizzazz (creating my own version of Designer Paper)
I Love how it turned out and it will be a great addition to Tyler and Gracie's scrapbook
and a great memory of our day spent together.

You're a Star!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

My Friend wanted a special notebook made for her brother who participated in the Special Olympics on a basketball team.  Jeff loves to draw and write and this notebook is probably filled in completely by the time I post this, but it was fun to make a special one just for him.

While I'm at it I will show you the journals that I made for the four gals
who were on the Women's Retreat Committee with me.

I couldn't resist making each gal a Petite Purse with a treat
Who knows, maybe this cute purse may end up being one
of the treats for next years Women's Retreat

As a Thank you the Women's Ministry gives us gals a separate night at the Haworth Inn and Conference Center so we can read all the evaluation forms from the ladies and do a post retreat recap.  This is a fun time for the five of us to spend some time together that is not work.
In fact, this is where we are right now.

Click HERE if you missed the post on our Women's Retreat.

This was the first year that we had a group photo taken and I wanted to incorporate that photo along with the color scheme (brown and red) for the retreat.  I also wanted to make each one just a bit different from the others.  I chose a retired Designer Paper called Love Letter.  It has always
been one of my favorite Designer Papers that Stampin' Up! has had.

Sweet Treats

Thursday, April 19, 2012
You may remember me saying that Thursday's are PLAY DAYS at my house with my gal pals.  What I absolutely LOVE is when Rachel shows up and I ask her what she is planning to work on that day and she says "well, I think I will work on whatever you want me to"!  I LOVE that she just enjoys being together and if she doesn't have a personal project to work on she pitches right in and works on stuff that I have here.  Because you all know...
I ALWAYS have something going on!

At this months Stamp A Stack this was one of the cards that we made...
Inspired by: Danielle Vincent
MENU:
SS: Sweet Treats, Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess)
CS: Pool Party, Island Indigo, WW, Poppy Parade
INK: Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Versa Mark
PUNCHES: 3/4" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Owl Builder
Accessories: Iridescent Ice, Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon, Dimensionals

I had some scraps of designer paper left over and gave her a pile and said
"here, make something with these", and lookie what she came up with!!!

It is hard to see by this photo, but she stamped the lolly wrapper on a
window sheet with Staz On Black and then cut it out placing it on top.
Rachel has a great blog too, so click HERE to see what she has to offer today.

I LOVE IT!!  Thanks Rachel!!
Can't wait to see what you bring to Play Day today!!

A Passion For Purses

Wednesday, April 18, 2012
What girl EVER has enough purses?
That must be what the designers at Stampin' Up! must have thought
when they came out with this
PETITE PURSE DIE #125606 for only $32.95.
This is a NEW item now offered as a SNEAK PEAK from the
up coming Catalog due to release on June 1st.
You can buy it in the month of April,
or you will need to wait until the catalog comes out in June.

I have been having so much fun making these cute little purses.
These first ones I made using the fabric that Stampin' Up! sells.
and then I saw this music related fabric at the local craft store and HAD to make one up for my daughter in law who LOVES music.
She not only sings beautifully, but she plays both the piano and the organ as well as the violin.
She is a PERFECT accompaniment for our son Jeff who has an amazing voice as well.
These next ones I used the retired Specialty Paper called PRESTO
It came in Whisper White that had a variety of designs clear embossed
so all I had to do was use my Classic Ink Pad and my Brayer to color the
Specialty Paper, then wipe off the embossed areas with a tissue.
I think they turned out pretty elegant and I was able to use up some retired
Specialty Paper as well.
Click HERE to Check out the CLEARANCE RACK

The Holly Berry Fabric (purse on the far left in the first photo) is now offered on the Clearance Rack for only $3.99.  You can place your order directly on my on line site form there.
Sorry, I cannot offer the FREE SHIPPING
special on the CLEARANCE RACK items.

If you didn't see the 5 day special that is going on right now (from me only)
click HERE to see Monday's posting for all the details.
