It is good to be home again after a FABULOUS weekend get-away in Washington DC. Stampin' Up! does everything up big and they treat you so special even though there were no scheduled meetings/classes. This truly was a VACATION! Each night we found gifts on our beds.
If you do not want to walk down my memory lane with me from the Incentive Trip then just quickly scroll to the bottom to see the cards that will be out for you to make at tomorrow's COME STAMP WITH ME class.
YUMMY cupcakes from the famous GEORGETOWN CUPCAKE CO.
A beautiful book of Washington DC to remember our trip by
This is the new
Many Merry Stars Simply Created Kit and it also included the new stamp set called
Many Merry Stars. Both of these will be available to purchase from our Holiday Supplement Flyer on October 20th.
Sara Douglas and her hubby Sean were there so that was a special treat to have my photo taken with her.
I met some new-to-me demonstrators AND I met
Debbie Henderson who was on my must-meet list. We sat down to breakfast and after chatting awhile her name was mentioned and I was so thrilled. (should have taken a picture but didn't want to look like a total stalker!)
Our Hotel the MAYFLOWER RENAISSANCE was exquisite
We saw the amazing sites of Washington with a private tour of the Capital Building being at the top! Thanks to Kelly Miller a gal from church who now works there in Congressman's Justin Amash's office. My sister and her hubby joined us for Friday so that made it extra special
White House in background
We had to visit the WWII Memorial in honor of our daddy who served in the Navy
Washington Monument...VERY tall
Saturday we went to the National Zoo
and our favorite was Bao Bao (pronounced bow-bow) the 13 month old baby giant panda. We laughed because at 13 months she is 47 pounds - the same weight as our Gracie at almost nine years old)
And of course they had a Henry there!!
We also visited 2 of the Smithsonian Museums: Natural History and American History.
Another HENRY!!
Of course I was hoping to walk in the front door and see the dinosaur bones statue from
Night At The Museum, this is the one they have there.
And I have proof that his name is Henry!! Check out this poster...
At the American History Museum a must-see for me was Julia Childs Kitchen because I LOVE the movie
Julie and Julia.
Sunday morning we only had until 11:30 so we did some more walking (I can't imagine how many miles we put on during this weekend). We walked to the back side of The White House and then over to the Lincoln Memorial. How many steps?? 87 - WHY? "Four Score and seven years ago..." from the Declaration of Independence
and the Vietnam Memorial Wall. My brother-in-law served during the Vietnam War and I am so very thankful that we CANNOT find his name on this wall because
he is one the survivors!!
We did, however, look in the registry to see if there were any Waite's and we found 2. Probably not related at all but we would like to research it some day.
Again I thank you ALL for making this possible for me, I couldn't have done it without you!
BUT... it is time to get busy again so I hope you are ready to COME STAMP WITH ME tomorrow. My craft room is open as always from 10am to 5pm and for only $1.50 each you can make as many or as few as you like. These are the cards that will be out...
These cards were inspired by
Glenda, Marilyn (
as seen on LeeAnn Greff's blog),
Brian King, and
Michelle Suit
Thank you for stopping by!
