Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, September 20, 2015
This past week has been a rough one for our family.  Mostly for Jeff, Jess, and sweet little Sawyer because Sawyer needed to spend 5 days in the DeVos Children's Hospital.  Because of a tongue and lip tie issue (that they were unaware of) Sawyer was unable to nurse effectively, but he compensated and grew to 19#'s at his first birthday, but even though Jeff and Jess would give him fruits and veggies, he was unable to eat (swallow) any foods.  When they identified the issue they made arrangements to have a revision done, and because of all the issues involved, Sawyer had to spend those 5 long days in the hospital.
Day 1 - hooked up to IV to rehydrate
He looked so good I never expected he would need to stay so long
Day 2 Sawyer needed to have a feeding tube in.  Not a quick success, but by Monday night (Day 3) it was in successfully and things started to pick up
Such a big boy, eating some veggie puffs
And tasting applesauce, but he doesn't want to be fed, he wants to do it himself.
Day 6 and Sawyer is so happy to be home again with his own toys.  He was showing off to Gramma how strong he was to pull the pieces apart.
Continued prayers are welcomed for his recovery and learning to eat on his own.  We have no idea how long he will need to have the feeding tube, but we are so very thankful for his progress so far.
This is the get well card that I made for Sawyer using some cute animal buttons (Sawyer likes monkeys) that my dear friend, Donne, gave me.  I used the Get Well stamp from my August Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Thanks for stopping by!
