Bulky Size Envelope for Honeycomb Embellishments

Friday, April 1, 2016
Do you love the HONEYCOMB EMBELLISHMENTS as much as I do?
SO CUTE! but they add a bunch of bulk to your card making it difficult to send in the mail without smashing them.  My suggestion is to only adhere one half of the honeycomb to your card, then when the recipients receive your beautiful card they can adhere the second half.  This is one of the cards that the ladies made at a Tuesday class and I had the Honeycomb Embellishment opened completely.
I thought this would be the perfect card to send as a thank you for my sister.  She works so many hours this time of year at the greenhouse that she felt bad she didn't have time to prepare a meal for us while I am recuperating so she picked up a bunch of Gluten Free groceries for me to have on hand. Her kindness is so appreciated!
I tried putting this card in a regular envelope (I was going to hand deliver it anyway), but thought it would be better to make a special sized envelope for bulky cards.
Want to see how you can make a bulky sized envelope yourself?
I started with a piece of card stock 9"x9".  I chose to use some retired IRRESISTIBLY YOURS Designer Paper because I liked the white on white pattern and the thickness is so nice and sturdy. You can also use the COLOR ME IRRESISTIBLE Card Stock - it has the same qualities, just different patterns, and it is a current product.
Using your ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD - punch and score at 3 1/2",
slide down to 4 1/2" punch and score.
Turn your paper 90ยบ and now you will Line up the pointer on each score line as shown and punch and score on all 4 sides.
This is what is will look like when all 4 sides are punched and scored
Now you will need to snip out the 4 little tabs as shown
Now it will look like this:
Burnish all score lines with your bone folder.  On one side insert the point into the back slot of the ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD to round the point.
On the opposite side I like to cut 3/4" off for a more finished look:
On the side that you cut the 3/4" off is where you will add your adhesive.  I suggest something stronger than your snail adhesive.  FAST FUSE or TEAR 'N TAPE are a great choice.
Sometimes squaring up your corners are more challenging than they need to be so I just grabbed a stack of envelopes (about 27 of them) and laid them inside the box helping me to square up the edges.
 See?  Perfect!
 Slide your card inside
Look - this is the perfect size for the HONEYCOMB EMBELLISHMENTS
I decided to seal my envelope with some of the GOLD GLIMMER TAPE that I got for FREE during Sale a bration.
The bulky envelope was looking a bit plain so I decided to add some color to match my card (Calypso Coral)
To make her tag I used the scrap pieces of the Card Stock - cut it at 2" wide, added 2 strips of the GOLD GLIMMER TAPE then punched that end with the ORNATE TAG TOPPER PUNCH.
I added more GOLD GLIMMER TAPE to another scrap and cut out her name using the LITTLE LETTERS THINLITS
.
This shows you how deep the envelope/box is - approximately 5/8"-3/4" deep
This size envelope/box will also hold 4-6 regular cards plus envelopes depending on how thick they are. A perfect way to gift someone a variety of cards.
