Happy Birthday, Tyler!

Sunday, May 31, 2020
We have another birthday in our family!
Today is our oldest grandson's 18th birthday!!
Tyler was 18 months old when we had our first studio picture taken together.
Ever since then we have made a point to have our picture taken with our grand kids in the fall or early December.
Tyler is our ginger-boy with beautiful red hair.  Needless to say it surprised us, but I guess he probably gained this from my fathers aunt Violet who had BRIGHT red hair, and I guess there is some red hair on his dad's side of the family. We love it! and we love him so very much!
This is Tyler's graduating year from high school. Just like many others, Tyler had to miss out on his last few months of school and his ceremonies.
We were thankful that Julie and Josh let us join in on a very private celebration with cake and ice cream where we could give him our gift in private.

He really hates all the attention and having his picture taken
His card:
We gifted Tyler his savings account that we have been putting money in since he was born. So inside I put "NO amount of money could EVER show HOW MUCH we love you..."
I took this from the stamp set A GRAND KID, but I redid it on WORD so it could say "we" instead of the "I" that is on the stamp.
This card was inspired by Linda Schnabel
Today was also supposed to be Tyler's graduation Open House. Yes, everything is rescheduled, but it will never be the same. This graduating class is very unique and they will have stories to tell their kiddos.
Hope you have an amazing birthday Tyler!!
Love Gramma and Gramps

Happy Birthday, Jeff

Saturday, May 30, 2020
Today is our son, Jeff's, birthday!
Jeff is our second born child and he always says that he is so thankful that he was a boy because the girl name we had picked out for him was Ginger.
He original due date to arrive was on our 4th wedding anniversary on June 3rd, but arrived a few days early and I actually brought him home from the hospital on our anniversary.  A week later we sat back and realized that we totally let our anniversary slip by without recognition. No big deal because what is better than adding a new baby to your family.
Such a little cutie - this son of mine!

Jeff is husband to his beautiful wife, Jessica, and daddy to our 3 youngest grand babies - Sawyer (nearly 6), Lily (3) & Mercy (2)
Everyone is an essential worker when they are working to support their families and put food on the table. Jeff's job as a "bug man" for Orkin was deemed essential during the shutdown because bugs carry disease. He has been working a bunch of long days and many Saturdays.
He loves to work in his yard and garden, sing (he sings amazing), and he has authored several books.
Most of all he loves the God who saved him and lives his life to serve Him and his family.  We couldn't be more proud to call him our son!
Hope you have a fabulous day, Jeff!
We love you so much!

Encouraging Cards

Friday, May 29, 2020
In the past several weeks I sent out quite a number of cards to encourage some of our faithful servants at church.
This first card was sent out to all our musicians who have been taping worship music for us each Sunday as we worship on line at home. I was inspired by Mary Brown
I sent this card to staff members - I CASED myself from the Tutorial Medley card I submitted for January.
Next I made a bunch of these cards for the people in church who are in the medical field as well as some of my friends
If the card was for a guy, I made it with a basic scrub color (Pool Party)
But if it was for a gal I we happy to make some fun ones with my designer papers
I used the bee specialty paper from Sale-a-bration because this gal in particular raises bees for honey. and I saw cased this from Stacey Stillwell
I used the same pattern from the nurse card I made many years ago at our Punch Art Class
I always send a LOT of cards, but I have tripled (at least) the amount I have sent out since this all started in March.  I have also sold a lot of cards because more people (like me) are sending cards to encourage others.  I am so thankful because the stores where I sell my cards have been totally closed down because of the mandate. It has helped to keep my "head above water."  (so to speak)
Only 4 more days to purchase from the RETIRING LIST - get what you want before it is too late.

Special Order Cards #2

Wednesday, May 27, 2020
I actually get a fair amount of special order requests for cards. It is good because it stretches me.
I had a request for a birthday card with a bird on it (because the recipient's name is Robin). Each year I get the same request and I remembered that one of my friends had a Tim Holtz bird stamp set and I wanted to give it a try. - I also used PIECE OF CAKE stamp set, and some of my retired designer paper.
This next card I made for Josh to give to his daughter on her 16th birthday.
I used the colored vellum from Sale-a-bration and the FOREVER BLOSSOMS Stamp Set
The Well Written Dies and the Hand Lettered Prose Dies came in handy to personalize her card.
This next  card request was for a get well card for a motorcycle dude!
I was very happy to have a sheet of Designer Paper left over from the Classic Garage (retired) Designer Paper Stack.
After Stamping the Gert Well Soon from HEALING HUGS Stamp Set with Real Red Ink, I punched it out with the LABEL ME LOVELY Punch, then ran it (and the 5/8" strip) through the Big Shot with the SUBTLE 3D Embossing Folder. This helped to keep it from feeling "flat." The red ribbon gave it the pop of color it needed.
This last card was a special order for someone new to me who asked for a sympathy card that would specifically have a cardinal on it, as when her friends mother passed away, there was a cardinal on the window ledge. I used stamps from my Paper Pumpkin kits along with the sympathy greeting from ITTY BITTY GREETINGS.

Special Order Cards

Tuesday, May 26, 2020
Today I thought that I would share some special order cards that I made for some friends and family.
One friend asked for some specific Mother's Day and Father's Day cards
This is a double gate fold, and there is a big story behind the M&M theme. Of course I had to google this image for the card.
For the Father's Day card she asked for a shirt card and the Country Club Designer Paper has some gorgeous plaid designs that worked perfectly
She even thinks her dad has a shirt with this exact plaid.  (I think my dad has one too!)
She has had to be distanced from her special guy and wanted a "I miss your face" card for him, and she loved the Well Dressed Stamp Set from Sale-a-bration with the hat, tie and shoes.
We chatted via text and between the 2 of us we came up with this cool card
I had to do the words on the computer because I had to size it down, but I love, love, love how this turned out.

Weekly Challenge

Monday, May 25, 2020
Last weeks weekly challenge for my team was to make a Floating Card.
I sent them a short how-to video based on a card that I CASED from Amanda Bates

Then I challenged them to make their own card using the fold concept and change it up
They had fun with it and seemed (for the most part) to like this type of fold.
Karen made another get well card for hers - and knowing Karen, she sends out a ton of cards to the people at church and I am sure that they are completely encouraged by it. She used the Perennial Essence Designer Paper which is on SALE on the Retiring List for only $8.05 (#149100)
The second card came in from Linda B and this is Linda's first time to join in on our challenge which makes me super happy. Linda actually made 2 cards using this fold and I see she added Designer paper to the inside of her cards which is very pretty

Next we have a card from Vicki - I'm not sure on this DSP, but what friend wouldn't appreciate getting a card like this.
And Lynda's card: using the Ornate Garden DSP
Our next card is from Anna
Anna used Painted Poppies stamp Set and the coordinating Designer paper
This next card is from Shirley
Shirley used the Clubhouse stamp set and the coordinating Designer Paper
This next card is from Inez.  She did a flip on the orientation of her card and look how cute it turned out! She used BACK ON YOUR FEET stamp set and some retired Designer Paper. She even used 2 of our new In-Colors - Just Jade and Bumblebee
Rachel sent our last card for this weeks challenge
Ohhh! this makes me wish for a Tropical escape

Not everyone on my team participated in the weekly challenge, but some of the still shared what they were working on.
Barb made these very colorful cards using the scraps from her Ornate Garden Designer Paper. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from PERENNIAL BIRTHDAY Stamp Set.
Bonnie made some card to send to a couple of our team members who need encouragement
She used OVER THE MOON on this first one and BACK ON YOUR FEET for this second one
Janell loves making fun fold cards and made this pretty one - it is a center step card

What fun to have a team who loves to participate and share

The Masked Singer

Friday, May 22, 2020
Wednesday night was the final episode for season 3 of the Masked Singer
Third Place was the Frog - I really thought it would come down to the Frog and the Turtle
Who was it? Rapper Bow Wow - not a fan of rap, but I thought his costume was my favorite this season
Here is my Froggy Card in his honor
Second place was: The Turtle! Who was it?  Jesse McCartney - it's just so crazy how much I love watching this show, but I don't know 90% of the contestants.
And here is my Turtle Card in honor of The Turtle (who I really thought would win this season)
I have this cute little turtle mounted on a large plastic spring so he wiggles, making it so cute!
This card was inspired by Stamp Art Connection
OK so I guess you guessed it that the Night Angel Won Season 3 of the Masked Singer
Who was she? Kandi Burruss
And here is my Angel Card in her honor - This is a card that I made several years ago during a punch art class. Not quite the same as the NIGHT Angel, but it's what I had :)

I hope you have enjoyed my Masked Singer posts
