Ice Fishing Cake

Sunday, January 31, 2010

This cake was made by request from a family at church that will be celebrating their father’s birthday tonight. He is a big fisherman and along with celebrating his birthday they are celebrating the dedication of their newest baby, Peter, to the Lord. After all, Peter was a fisherman too, right?!

Elegant Anniversary Card

Saturday, January 30, 2010

19

This card looks like I made it for a special 50th Anniversary but really it could be used for a wedding as well.  I dry embossed the Whisper White Card Stock with one of our Brass Templates called “Pick A Petal”, the stylus, and a light box.  The heart is stamped with Gold Encore Ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  You can also try stamping it with the Gold Encore and embossing it with Clear Embossing Powder.

Sorry, but I cannot remember what stamp set this was and I think I sold it at our garage sale since it was retired.

The rest of the Accessories used are Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon and Gold Cording. The papers are Whisper White and Brushed Gold.

So if you have an anniversary coming up you may find this card in your mailbox.

So For Now…

Happy Stamping!!

Charlie Update

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Charlie turned 3 months old in January and he is such a good baby. I am so thankful to have him with me each day. He is very strong, holding his head up nice so I thought I would give the Bumbo a try. Look how cute he is sitting there.

Future Computer Geek?

Gracie loves to play games on Gramma’s computer so when she is here by herself I let her do just that. Doesn’t she look like a computer junkie?

DSCF2016 1DSCF20182

Oh Gracie, you always amaze me. At 4 years old she maneuvers the computer pretty well. Sometimes I will say to her “what are you doing now?” and she will respond… “I’m just waiting – it’s loading”. She just makes me laugh.

Thanks www.nickjr.com for the fun and educational games.

Sunday Share

Sunday, January 17, 2010
One of the blogs I check regularly always has a Sunday Share for her Sunday postings. When I was sent this link I thought I would share it with you all. We were all so proud of Jeff when he sang the National Anthem at the Griffins hockey game, and I can only imagine how proud the parents of this 7 year old boy were when he sang at an NBA game. I hope you all are having a blessed Lord's Day.

Disney

Friday, January 15, 2010

One of my traditions is to pull out my scrapbooking on New Years Day and work on it ALL day and catch up from the past year.  This year I had time off from daycare kids so I was able to leave my large table up making it so much easier to accomplish the task at hand.  My sweet hubby gave me a new photo album where I can just slip in the photos as well as journal, so I was able to catch up on our family album using this.  I also needed to catch up on extended family albums with nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles, etc.  This too was accomplished.  Tyler and Gracie’s album came next, which I was able to catch up on as far as I could go, but (shame on me) I really haven’t been taking as many pictures so I wasn’t too terribly back logged.  What I really wanted to accomplish was our pictures from our trip to DISNEY last November.  How good it felt to get our entire trip completed – just need to buy an album to put it in.  So here is one of the pages that was completed for our trip using paper and embellishments from Stampin’ Up!DSCF2013

Tyler is trying to pull the sword from the stone.  I also put pictures in a small album of all the character pictures taken with the kids (and some with us) so that Gracie and Tyler could look at them anytime they wanted.  The question now is… When can we go again????

Three Little Words

Thursday, January 14, 2010
This is a card I sent to my dear childhood friend, Phyllis. growing up we did EVERYTHING together, and now as adults these are our fondest memories. We don’t see each other much, but we are always close at heart. Phyllis recently finished up another round of Chemo treatments for ovarian cancer. She has endured so much and yet has remained so strong. I am so proud of her and I love her so much. Wish I had a picture of when we were little to put on this blog, but I sure am glad she is still here with us. I love you Phyllis!!

DSCF2065 Inside and envelope. At Regionals in Cincinnati last September we were taught "never send a naked envelope." Well, I'm not that consistent on this, but I did add the cute little bunny from the Forest Friends stamp set to the inside and to the envelope.

This card was inspired (copied) from Tashana Lundy’s blog. She has many great ideas that I have used. Thanks Tashana!

“J” Term – Cakes

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Tuesday the same girls who made cards in class last week were back with me again today! This time we decorated cakes. So very thankful that the school let use use the kitchen today. Each girl had a 6” round cake to start with. I showed them how to cut the cake and fill it. They had the options of raspberry or Bavarian cream, YUMMY! After they frosted their cakes I set them loose to decorate – showing them how to make leaves, and different borders, and I brought flowers that I had made ahead of time that they could use. (Time just didn’t allow a teaching segment on making flowers) Each cake was special – designed to reflect each girls personality and tastes. I also brought with me a 12x18 half sheet cake and showed them how I cut and filled a large cake (using dental floss). After frosting the cake I let them work on that one as well and look what they came up with.

She plays very nice all by herself, but she also plays very nice with others. She and Gracie are best of friends.

She loves to do crafts, DSCF2041color and watch Dora the Explorer, and now she is turning 3 years old. Happy Birthday Sweetheart. This is the card I am giving her for her birthday. I sent one just like it to my neice when she was expecting her baby because she craved gummy bears during her pregancy. I am happy to say that Baby Elijah was born safe and sound on December 21st just as planned, and Mom and Elijah are doing great. Click here to see how adorable he is. Doesn't he just look like a little gummy bear?! They call him their Snuggle Bear. How appropriate!
