Lego Indiana Jones

Tuesday, May 31, 2011
A couple years ago our grandson, Tyler, had an Indiana Jones themed birthday and I made this cake for him.
I came across this cute punch idea to make a LEGO Indiana Jones card by Gina Dygert so couldn't resist making it for his birthday this year even though he has a totally different theme for his birthday.

Happy 9th Birthday, Tyler!!

Here is a photo of Tyler in Florida where he found a cool Indiana Jones hat

And here we are enjoying the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom show at Disney World in 2009. Good Memories!!

Have a Blessed Day!!

I know I should have made a funny card for Jeff because he NEVER gives a serious card, but I know how much he loves eagles and I bought this stamp set specifically for him so I thought I had better use it. Thanks to Mary Jo Price for this great idea.

Borrowed Stamps

Saturday, May 28, 2011

I love being in a Stampin' Group (Red Hot Stampers and C3) that are more than just a Stampin' Group - we are friends. And I love the fact that we each are willing to share our stamp sets with one another. I borrowed the Stamp Set called AVIARY from my friend Rachel to make this card...
Inspired by Lisa Young. I wanted to make them for the ladies in our choir at church.

So when I returned the stamp set to Rachel I had made her a 3x3 version of the card as a thank you.

The very day I returned her stamp set, she returned one of mine that she borrowed called BABY BUNDLE. And what did I find? Rachel made me a cute 3x3 from that stamp set as a thank you.

You can bet I will be copying this cute card for baby shower gifts

Thanks Rachel!!

Have a Blessed Day!!

Waterfall Graduation

Saturday, May 21, 2011
Today we are celebrating the high school graduation of my Danny. Danny is the second of my day care kids to graduate from high school, and boy does that make me feel old.
Not only was Dan a day card kid but they live right next door to us so we have had the privilege of watching him grow up on a daily basis.

Dan was our "goofy" kid -
always doing something to make us laugh or just sit back and wonder "why?"

After making this waterfall card at a techniques class

I thought how cool it would be try it with photos.

Now the kids today are "rockin" to a new beat with the guitar hero thing on Wii.

Strength and Hope

Sunday, May 15, 2011

At Glenda's down line meeting she usually gives us a chance to do a MAKE AND TAKE.
This helps us out with ideas to carry over to our classes and customers.
This is a 3x3 card that we made using the new stamp set called STRENGTH AND HOPE.
When you purchase this set, Stampin' Up! will donate $2.00 to Breast Cancer Research.
This set will be available through August 31st.
We also used the Scallop Square Duo Die with the Big Shot
and the technique called STAINED GLASS.
I thought this was so pretty that we made it at my down line meeting as well
and I plan to use it for my May thank you notes for anyone who makes a purchase.

Thank you Glenda for sharing all your great ideas!

C3 Challenge

Saturday, May 14, 2011
Now that I have 7 lovely gals in my down line I have been having a separate down line meeting in my home for them, and then once a quarter Glenda has everyone come to a full down line meeting at her house. I am still getting used to this so I try to piggy-back off her meeting and then share the same info at mine - yes, I know, I'm cheating (haha). So even though we are all Red Hot Stampers, we are also in a group of our own call Christi's Creative Crew which I lovingly call C3.

In March we met here and I issued a challenge for the gals to pick a layout design from any of the Stampin' Success Magazines that we get every month and to make a card.

This is the card that I made for my challenge...

First I stamped the butterflies from the stamp set called Butterfly Prints on Whisper White card stock with Poppy Parade, Concord Crush and Peach Parfait - three of our current IN- Colors. Then I ran the card front only through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I also stamped the same butterflies on a separate scrap piece of Whisper White Card Stock, smooshed Versa Mark on them and then heat embossed them with Iridescent Ice to give them a bit of "dazzle". I attached the butterflies with a side piece of dimensionals and added pearls and a rhinestone.

The more I look at it the more I like it - such a simple basic card, but it has flare!!

If any of my gals complete their challenge I will share those with you as well.

Have a Blessed Day!!

Nurse Betty Get Well Wishes

Friday, May 13, 2011
My sweet friend, Rachel's, hubby was in a car accident and in the process broke his leg pretty bad. After surgery to insert a plate and a one night stay in the hospital he is home and healing. However - he is non-weight baring for TWO months!! Oh MY!! I believe that he is going to need a TON of prayers for healing and for ppppaaaattttiieeennnccceeee (patience)!!! I'm guessing Rachel and the kids will need a lot of prayers too as something like this really puts a kink in family life.

This is the card that I made for Mr. Tom...
I hope it brings a smile to his face.

Get Well Wishes from Nurse Betty!!

SS: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Words on clipboard were computer generated.
CS: WW, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
INK: Pear Pizzazz, Real Red
Punches: XL Owl, Itty Bitty set, Word Windo, Modern Label, Retired Corner Punch
Accessories: Library Clips, White Gel Pen, Dimensionals

Bridal Shower Favors

Not only do I get orders for cakes each month, I also will get special orders for Shower Favors. This month I made these favors for a Bridal Shower. The colors of their wedding are yellow and blue with a touch of red. The gal who ordered these was a customer at one of the craft sales last fall and thankfully she kept my business card for future reference.
I love doing special things like this for a special occasion.

The colors of the Jelly Belly Jelly Beans may not match perfectly to the wedding colors,
but you have to go with what they sell.

Very simple yet personal. I love it!!

Have a Blessed Day!!
