Beside Me for Father's Day

Now that Mother's Day is behind us (and I'm hoping you had a lovely day!), it is time to feature some Father's Day cards

Ok - Ok - I am using some retired DSP - I knew that I needed to stock up on the Gone Fishing DSP before it retired, because every time I make a card using the Gone Fishing stamp set it really screams to use the coordinating DSP. But look how great it looks with the Beside Me stamp set!

This card was inspired by Linda Cullen

Products used: Alphabet Ala Mode Dies, Stitched Shapes dies, Nested Essentials Dies

My hubby is hoping to get in some fishing after he retires, and I am hoping he gets to as well.

My own dad was a HUGE fisherman, but I only remember him taking me once, I think I talked too much!!

Gone Fishing

When I first saw the GONE FISHING stamp set, I knew that I needed to purchase it.

My dad was a HUGE fisherman in his day. Now that he is nearly 97 years old and using a walker, he no longer can do all the fishing, hunting and golfing that he did in his prime.

However, I knew that he would love to have a fishing themed card for his birthday.

ALSO...my hubby picked up fishing a few years ago, going the men at church for a 2 day fishing trip to Lake St Clair, and they always go the first weekend of June, so he left this morning. I know that he will have a good time, but I also sure hope he gets some fish.

This card was inspired by one I saw on the Demonstrator Planning Place Facebook Group by Michelle Sturgeon. (there was no link to a blog or directions)

For my colors I chose: Misty Moonlight, Old Olive and Real Red with some Silver Foil.

ALPHABET ALAMODE for the HB and WAVES OF INSPIRATION for the "happy birthday"

How about that amazing trim? it's called NATURAL WAVY TRIM.

I just frayed it and pulled it apart a bit like I saw Michelle do.

The Embossing folder is new too, called TWISTED ROPE

Now that I have taken care of "business", how would you like to have a sneak peek of one of my favorite products from the new mini?

The ALPHABET ALA MODE DIES are my favorite! I always purchase the alphabets because I like to use them for my scrap-booking as well as my cards. When I saw this cute card on the Demonstrator Planning Place on FB (another great resource just for demonstrators) I knew that I just had to copy it so I could share it with you.

In fact, my Tuesday stampers made this card just yesterday. This card was inspired by Wendy Cranford

Such a super cute card using the THIS BIRTHDAY PIGGY Stamp Set (for a short time Stampin' Up! offered coordinating dies for this stamp set, but sadly they are sold out - however this image is easily cut out by hand)

The 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Vellum Cardstock was embossed with the BRICK & MORTAR  3D Embossing Folder, and is layered on a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of SWEET SORBET Cardstock, and then on a Thick Basic White Base that measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4".

The letters are cut out from Pale Papaya Cardstock and them colored with Stampin' Blends for an ombre look with light Pumpkin Pie and light & dark Pale Papaya.

TIP: attach some ADHESIVE SHEETS to the Pale Papaya Cardstock before cutting the letters out, making it easier to attach to your card front.
