Workshop Cards

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

This is a card we made at one of Glenda’s STAMP A STACK classes and I kept it on my work table thinking that I would use this for a class some day. When I booked a workshop and she wanted to make three different cards vs. a One Sheet Wonder I thought this would be a perfect time to use this idea. One problem was that some of these In-Colors are discontinued so…

Aug workshop 1

I switched it up to use some of our new colors

August workshop 2

and ribbon. Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Concord Crush using the Itty Bitty Bits Stamp Set and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Card number 2 … a great guy card! I was disappointed when the motorcycle stamp didn’t cross over into the big catalog in July so TODAY is your last day to order this stamp if it is on your MUST HAVE list.

DSCF0009 Embossing it on the Big Shot gives it a great textured look. The sentiment is also from a stamp set that can only be ordered today – called Watercolor Trio. Seriously I do not know why they didn’t carry these two over into the big catalog. Colors used on this card are Sahara Sand, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.

Card Number 3 is my personal favorite DSCF0008

I love butterflies because they are a great visual reminder of the new life we can have in Christ.

Colors used here are Soft Suede, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Marina Mist and Very Vanilla.
Don’t you just love the new Victoria lace down the front? This is a new item in the catalog that will stay current through June 2011!! I can imagine I will use a lot of this beautiful lace.

We used the “paper to stamp” technique and the color spritzing tool and sponges to create the great background look.

Once again I snagged these ideas from the Stampin' Connection. Thanks to all the great demonstrators that share their ideas with us!

If you would like to have a workshop we can make cards like these for you and your friends. What a fun way to spend an evening!! Call today or email and I will get you scheduled.

So For Now…

Happy Stamping!!

I am loving our new stamps and paper that recently came out. This card I thought would actually be good for graduation. Craft sales start in September and usually the cards sell very well so who knows if this one will still be around when graduation season hits.

Christmas in August?

Sunday, August 29, 2010

NO, I am NOT ready for Christmas nor am I ready for snowy weather, BUT – if I wait until December to make all my cards I will go crazy. If I start slow and make a few at a time when the mood hits, I am ready for sending them out the first part of December. I loved the colors and variety on these card with the Crumb Cake and Marina Mist. A little Dazzling Diamonds to make them sparkle really sets them off.

158 aThe Stamp Set used here is called Serene Snowflake and the “Merry Christmas” is from A Cardinal Christmas.

A Little Birdie

Thursday, August 26, 2010

A Little Birdie told me that if you plant these flower seeds you will get some beautiful flowers.

bird seed card

Once again I found this idea on the Stampin’ Connection - thanks to Lisa Baisch for this cute idea. She had one seed packet in hers and I am not sure if hers was a card front only because I couldn’t tell how she put hers together so I had to improvise with what I could figure out. But don’t you just love this cute little bird on the fence. At the July STAMP A STACK one of the gals said “I wish you would have some cards made with birds” so I guess I had my radar out for bird themed cards. So if you have been watching my blog - we DID have two bird themed cards, and my gal was soooo happy!!

MENU:
SS: Woodgrain Background
CS: Bashful Blue, Garden Green, Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Only Orange (beak)

Accessories: Two Step XL Bird Punch, Boho Blossom Punch, 1 3/8” sq punch (to create the point of the fence post), Brads, Dimensionals, Flower seeds (local Dollar store) I actually used the Two step owl xl punch for the eye on the bird – it’s just the right size and I never get my hand drawn circle eyes even.

Tonight was supposed to be my first Scrapbooking Class, but had to cancel due to lack of sign ups, BUT if you did sign up for a scrapbook class this is a sample of what we would do.

I am waiting to find just the right pictures of Tyler and Gracie to put on these pages for their scrapbook. I love using punches to create fun scrapbook pages. Thanks goes to tarheelstamper.blogspot.com for this cute scrapbooking page idea.

Our son, Joey, played baseball for Hudsonville High School and ever since he has graduated he has played in the summer alumni game the first Saturday in August. Even though I will use these pages for Tyler’s scrapbook and his Little League pictures I thought I would show you all a picture of Joey playing second baseman. DSCF0001 It is so funny how Joey still wears his torn baseball pants to all his games. (At least he can still get in them !)

Charlie

Monday, August 23, 2010
Watching Charlie each day is such a joy. He really is a funny little guy, and boy, does he like his food. He will eat ANYTHING you give him and he is no dainty eater either – it is a two-fisted
shovel effect.

He’s hanging on to those fishy crackers for dear life!! And the whole time he's eating it's "ummm Num Num! He enjoys every bite!

Charlie is on vacation this week and, boy, I am going to miss him, but I am glad to have this time with the bigger kids as they will soon be heading off to school soon and then my schedule will drastically change. Charlie is really going to miss his buddies, they keep him quite entertained.

This is an older picture of Charlie, that I just never got around to posting. This cute bib inspired my card. Look how much Charlie has changed!

When I saw this card idea from “Chat” I knew the ladies would love it, but oh, so much cutting of flowers. I made this one for my Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder challenge and decided to cut out ‘some’ of the flowers for them so it wouldn’t be too time consuming – so I started to cut – and when I got all done, I realized I had cut them all out for them – boy are these gals spoiled (hehe).

Elements of Style

Monday, August 16, 2010
I was so happy to see Stampin’ Up! returning some old In Colors and putting them into the Core Colors. In this case I was happy to see the Wild Wasabi green. When Wild Wasabi was an In Color one of the coordinating colors was called Groovy Guava. I had a little of the Designer Series Papers left over so was glad to see this idea pop up on the Stampin’ Connection by Laura G. Lin (thanks Laura!) combining the new stamp set called Elements of Style with the Wild Wasabi and the Groovy Guava DSP. It’s always good to be frugal and use up the leftovers. I had just enough DSP left to make this cute Bag-in-a-box and 6 cards to match. This will make a great addition to the craft sale. Card sets like this are a top seller!

Just a Note

Saturday, August 14, 2010

While Dale was working on our kitchen make-over I tried to help him out, but ended up landing a board on the top of my foot. OUCH! The first couple days I didn’t do much of anything, and thankfully my friend pitched in to watch the kids. She even brought down a fun little chair with wheels so I could scoot around. Normally I’m up and around all day, but since I had to stay put and ice this crazy foot, I was able to accomplish quite a bit.

foot 3 foot 1

(At least I had my toe nails done so they looked pretty for the XRay!)

My stash of things I have been storing up for Craft Sale projects was starting to over flow so I thought it was about time to start working on some of these ideas.
