Guest Stamper Carla

Monday, September 30, 2013
This past Saturday I had the privilege to be at the Craft Sale with my friend, Carla.  We had a great day meeting all the amazing people who came to shop at our booth.  We loved all the comments, and these are just a few of the comments we heard...

"This is my favorite booth here", "I check out your blog every day", "You ladies are so talented", "I'm so glad you are back again this year, I need gifts for the teachers", "I wish I could do this."

Oh, Yeah!! I teach classes!! You really must check them out!!

So today I thought I would share a couple of the cards that Carla made

Carla used the stamp sets SIX SIDED SAMPLER and FOUR YOU.  I love how she made two different color themes using the same design. - I'm thinking these will be perfect for the COME STAMP WITH ME class tomorrow!!  Come check it out every Tuesday from 10 am to 7 pm here in my craft room.  Each station will have a different card and you can make as many or as few as you like for only $1.50 each.

These are the cards that I will have out for tomorrows COME STAMP WITH ME "class"
I have extra cards out for tomorrow (I normally only do 4 cards) because next week Tuesday I will NOT be open as my sister comes in town for a week and I plan to spend as much time with her and my other two sisters and our parents as possible, but I will be ready and raring to go again on Tuesday, September 15th - same as always 10 am to 7 pm.

Thanks for stopping by! - feel free to leave a comment for Carla on this blog post

The Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge for this week was a simple enough one but with the busy-ness of the craft sale and prepping for classes I wasn't sure I was going to participate.  I just could not figure out what to do with those circles!

As I was making another card (which you will see later this week) for a special occasion, I thought it would be perfect to try some flowers on my card where the circles were.  What do you think?

Also one of my stamping friends who comes to my COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAY occasionally said that she planned to come this coming Tuesday and was hoping to make some Thank You cards.  So I had Thank You ingrained in my head so thought I would stay with the Thank You theme for my sketch challenge.  But you are wondering what the card is like that made me choose to make the flowers on this card - Well, stay tuned - it will be on my post this coming Friday (don't want to spoil the surprise)

Piano Girl!

Wednesday, September 25, 2013
Today is our Daughter, Jessica's, birthday.  Hard to believe it has only been three years since our Jeff married Jessica.  It feels like she has belonged to our family all the time.  We love her dearly!
Jessica is a beautiful musician.  Not only does she play and teach the violin she also plays the piano and accompanies Jeff when he sings in church (she sings with him too).  I bet Jess wishes their little house could hold a beautiful grand piano like what is on her birthday card this year.
I used two retired stamp sets: Flores Suaves for the butterfly (but you could easily use BEST OF BUTTERFLIES) and Sincere Salutations (But any sentiment would work)
The musical note embossing folder is one I had on hand from a local craft store.  The piano was just hand cut (I made myself a pattern to keep on hand)
Colors I used besides the black and white are Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango

Happy Birthday Jessica!! With love!!

Let's Talk Turkey

I am really in the Craft Sale mode right now, trying to get everything made for the upcoming Craft Sales.  I must admit I get a bit anxious prior to the craft sales and never know if I have the right items that will sell.

I wanted to make some inexpensive Thanksgiving Themed Treats that would be great to give to your family at Thanksgiving Dinner.  Can't you just picture these cute treats adorning your Thanksgiving table?

These treat boxes are filled with Candy Corn, but you could always swap it out for whatever your family likes best.
These have yummy suckers - some are the caramel apple flavor and some have the fun CRAYOLA suckers that actually color your tongue when you eat it!  How fun is that!!

Look Who Came To Visit!

Saturday, September 21, 2013
What a sweet surprise yesterday when this sweet little guy and his mommy came for a visit.
Mr Owen is now very comfortable coming to Auntie's house when Mommy comes to play.  Actually Mommy wasn't planning to stay and craft but Owen dug right into the toys and was such a good boy that Mommy asked if she could help me with my craft sale items - YOU BET!! THANKS!!

While Owen played, Rachel helped me assemble these cute little boxes to sell at next week Saturday's Craft Sale.  I love how she digs right in - she is a true crafter at heart!!
Yup - they are filled with a yummy candy corn, peanut, M and M mix!!
How-to: The box was made with the now retired Fancy Favor Box Die for the Big Shot (but you could easily assemble a box with cutting and scoring)  the front and back was made with the TOP NOTE DIE and the Big Shot.  This is probably the most used and versatile die that I have as you will see in an upcoming post. - Yup - I've got more boxes!! One of my favorite things to make!!
Eyes: Whisper White 1 1/4", Basic Black 1", Pumpkin Pie 1 1/4" (cut in half)
This cute box was inspired by: Charlotte Hollingsworth

Here are the details for the Craft Sales I will be participating in this year...

Get Well

I know - this is NOT a Stampin' Up! Stamp BUT... A couple weeks ago I went to stamp at my friend Judy's house and she wanted to make a card for her mom using this stamp because her mom had had surgery recently.  That's when the light bulb went off and I asked if I could stamp one too for my sister Vicky who fell and crushed her knee and broke the large and lower bones in her right leg.  She is being held together by screws and a metal plate.  She is doing so well and she said that she was able to do a few rotations on her elliptical machine.  She is such a strong woman - I am so proud of her.  Won't be long and she can ditch her walker and graduate to crutches!!

This little mouse was too cute to NOT share with you all.  And this is a great sketch to use for your cards.  Here is one that we made at our Stamp A Stack Class last week using this same sketch

The Framelits I used for the first card are called DECO LABELS
Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies#130102 $24.95

For the Second Card I used:
Stamp Set: WETLANDS, EXPRESS YOURSELF
OVAL FRAMELITS #129381 $26.95
Ovals Collection Framelits Dies

GREAT NEWS!! as of today we can start ordering the new MAGNETIC PLATFORM again
YEAH! this baby is a life saver!! only $39.95 #130658

Love, love, love simple but elegant cards!
This one uses the Core'dinations paper in Pool Party #129954 (Subtles collection) $23.95 pg 157 and sanded it after embossing using the Stampin' Sanding System #129367 $3.95 Pg 157
I used the retired - but loved - vanilla 5/8" flower trim.  I switched it up a bit from the original but it made it easier for me to use the already made flowers.  I just colored them using a sponge dauber and ink pad.

Faux Tile

Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Last week at the Red Hot Stampers Down line meeting our fellow Red Hot Stamper, Sara, demonstrated a sponging technique. And step by step we sponged this gorgeous card together.  Sara is a VERY talented sponger and card maker. You can visit her blog HERE.

Last night was the down line meeting for Christi's Crew (C3) and I thought perhaps they would like to try their hand at sponging too, but I didn't want to copy Sara, and I also thought I would start a bit simpler.  I saw this Faux Tile technique on Stampin' Connection and wanted to give it a try.  I asked Sara if she had ever done it, and she had not as of yet, but she gave me the link - I love being a Red Hot Stamper because we share everything with each other.  Thanks Sara!

I think maybe I should have Sara be a guest demonstrator at one of my down line meetings!!

Clockworks meets Stipple Blossoms

Tuesday, September 10, 2013
I love the look of this card but it sure has a lot of fussy cutting to it.  I saw one similar on Carolyn Kings blog but hers was a 5 1/4"x 5 1/4" size and I wanted to make sure mine fit into the A2 envelope as well as the card slot at the Used To Be New Consignment Shop.  I think this one would be perfect for a retirement card but I left the inside blank so it could be used for any occasion.
Stamp sets: Stipple Blossoms, Clockworks

Remember on yesterdays blog post I gave you a before and after picture of my sister and I? Well now I have a before and after picture of my organized lazy susan.  Dale and I went to IKEA the night before our flight out and picked up these great containers for all my gluten free products.  I was getting tired of all the bags and the messy look.  Then I used My Digital Studio to make labels for each of them.

Pure Elegance!

Monday, September 9, 2013
It has been one week since we came back home from my sisters house in NJ.  We had a ton of fun together and since we have both adopted a gluten free diet we enjoyed making most of our meals and eating home.  We both started in the Spring so I thought you might like to see a before and after picture of us.
Here we are in January when we vacationed together in Florida
And here we are now - 50 pounds lighter (between the two of us)

This one was taken at the beautiful LONGWOOD GARDENS

When our plane landed Dale said "here we are" and I said "I'm not 'here' until I am in my sisters arms
Sisters are the BEST and I am blessed to have 3 sisters.  Looking forward to October when all four of us will be together again.
Now on to a pretty card:

Elegance! That what this card screams!  (Card inspired by Elizabeth Gross)  Simply by snipping the 'petals' of the scallop circle punch it gives the card more dimension and makes them look like beautiful flowers.

Yeah! it's another Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge Day!
This is what we had to work with...
And this is what I came up with...
This is the NEW single stamp called WONDERFUL BLESSING

First I made this card...
This is the actual size of the stamp
I really wanted to try something with it so I put the stamped image on my scanner/printer and decreased the size to about 79%
See the difference in size? The color did not come out as bright as the stamped image but... oh well
Here are the two sided by side
the colors I used are Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red and Brushed Gold.
The card on the left was made using the Paper Doily Sizzlit L* #125592

and the card on the right was made using the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit L* #126999 $21.95 each.
