Bella & Friends Day 5

Here we are at day 5 featuring this BELLA & FRIENDS Stamp Set. I will miss seeing these cute little puppies each day on my blog.

This sweet card inspired by JanB is a peek-a-boo card. 

What I changed up: I switched out the little stamp that created the background on the front.

What I used: EASTERN BEAUTY Stamp Set and the Happy Birthday from PARTY PANDAS. This is one of the sets you can get for FREE with a qualifying purchase ($50)

This last card is one that I hope I never have the reason to send. It was inspired by Shelly Godby
What I changed up: I added the frame.
Instead of using the sponge brayer to add the color inside the frame, I used the swiping technique.  I will say that using the sponge brayer the colors are a bit softer.
Colors: Crumb Cake, Soft Sky & Pool Party (Shelly used Marina instead of the Pool Party)

Operation!!

Here we go again!
Tomorrow I head to the hospital AGAIN for another surgery. I think by the end of the year I will be the bionic woman.
I have never had an stay over night surgery before (except for in 1980 when I had my tonsils out at age 23. Back then you stayed over night to get your tonsils out!!)
The pain I have been experiencing in my legs (and back) I thought was generated from the problem with my feet (which I had surgery on in both January and May), but after my feet were fixed and the pain did not subside down my legs I ended up with an MRI which showed I had 90-95% of my nerves being pinched off in my lower back.  When I saw the MRI images, even I could read the problem!!  I will be in the hospital for 3-4 days.
Hence the reason behind my post for today...
Do you remember this fun game from your childhood? I sure do! my best buddy, Phyllis, had this game and we had fun playing it together.

My friend Rachel made this darling punch art card and I couldn't wait to make one of my own.  She actually sent me the PIN (by Ellen Kempers) a long time ago, but I never took the time to make it.

I made some changes to make it my own, but the basics are the same

What I changed:

1. The WISHBONE was made from the EASTERN PALACE DIES- can you see it?

2. I used one of the little butterflies (for "butterflies in the stomach") that I had on hand from the Butterflies Embosslits, and just added a thin strip of Basic Black for the body

3. The "Leg bones connected to the hip bone" - I used the bone die from the SWEET HOME Die set

4. The "Wrenched Ankle" I used the retired SLOT punch along with the medium sized circle from the retired OWL Builder Punch. It's just a smidge smaller than the one Rachel made.

5. I changed up the embossing folder to OH MY STARS 

To make it easier on myself for the next one I want to make I made up an 8x8 instruction page for my punch art album.  Maybe it will help you too.

What I left out from what is included in the game...

Embossing Paste Samples and Tips

Yesterday I featured 3 cards and the upcoming Stampin' Blends Markers. You can see that post HERE in cased you missed it.

Two of those cards also featured the Embossing Paste so I thought maybe I would expand on that amazing product today.
Here is a new card I made last night featuring the EMBOSSING PASTE

Here are the 2 cards from yesterday

Yesterday's BIKE RIDE card was on a Pink Pirouette base - which one do you like better? the Pink from yesterday or the Soft Sky from today??

Had to make a yellow front door because that's what we have!!
You may have noticed that on both of the cards from yesterday I used the brick pattern from the PATTERN PARTY DECORATIVE MASKS  - it really is my favorite, but I also love the puffy clouds stencil used on this card (inspired by Patty Bennett)

See the stencil in the top right corner? It is very reminiscent of the EASTERN MEDALLIONS, but it is super big - big enough to fit a card front.

So I wanted to share with you some tips that I have learned along the way
1. The bicycle card shows that you can color the EMBOSSING PASTE using the CLASSIC STAMPIN' INK REFILLS. I love to put a little Embossing Paste on my SILICONE CRAFT SHEET and add the Ink Refill of my choice. I mash it around like I am coloring frosting for a cake.
2. It dries really fast, but if you are super impatient you can use your HEAT TOOL for a few seconds. Drying it with the Heat Tool will also puff it up a bit. Seriously - it really does dry fast
3. The Night of Navy card, I sprinkled it with DAZZLING DIAMONDS GLITTER before it dried.
4. You can make your own mask using whatever cut out you want.  I used 3 of the nesting dies from EASTERN MEDALLIONS THINLITS DIES. So you can see that I could fit a variety on the front of my card instead of just one.

5. Instead of adding Glitter, try adding EMBOSSING POWDER and Heat set it with the HEAT TOOL.

6. You do NOT need to use a mask when using the embossing paste. You can use the EMBOSSING PASTE as snow on the Christmas Trees. Try using a small paint brush to add the embossing paste to the edges of your trees. For example: the tree dies in the CAROLS OF CHRISTMAS Stamp Set/Bundle with CARD FRONT BUILDERS DIES

7. One thing I learned by trial and error is this...

I assumed that I could scrape off the unused portion into the container but the EMBOSSING PASTE that stayed at the top edge of the container got all hard and unusable. Be sure to scrape off but then get the paste down into the center of the container.
8. You will want to get the PALETTE KNIVES for only $5.00 for spreading the paste.

A quick note: the little jar is 4 oz. Sold by Weight not by volume so when you get your EMBOSSING PASTE your jar will appear as though it is not full, but believe me it is still 4 oz.
9. Because of how quickly the Embossing Paste dries you will want to keep a little tray with water handy for cleaning off your stencil, palette knives, etc.
 * another side note: I was making the pink brick wall later in the evening so I just popped my stencil, silicone mat and palette knife in the water and waited until morning to clean.  NOT! best to clean them up right away, and warm water is a key. You can even add a drop of dish soap. Yes, they cleaned up fine but they did have a residue left on my stencil and silicone mat.
10. Last but not least - Try adding some embossing paste with a stencil onto some Designer Series Paper - oh yeah! and select Designer Papers are on sale!! WOOT! WOOT! Check out the details below.

Ribbon of Courage

The final 2 cards that we made at the Stamp a Stack Classes in September:

Stamp Set: RIBBON OF COURAGE (BUNDLE).  I hate to say it but right now I have 5 people in my life that have or have had breast cancer.  With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month I wanted to be sure to make this card up. The new Powder Pink is the perfect pink for this card. I would compare it to half way between Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette.
the Fresh Florals In Color Designer Paper pack is perfect for this style card.

Fall weather just screams SUNFLOWERS!! These sunflowers were made using the EASTERN MEDALLIONS Dies and EASTERN BEAUTY Stamp Set

I used the negative side of the PETAL BURST Embossing Folder

I did go outside the borders that I normally set for myself for the Stamp a Stack Classes but I dug out my Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to use as the center of my Sunflower.

Eastern Palace with a Belly Band

Here is another one of the cards that the ladies made in our June Stamp a Stack class.

 

Sometimes you just need a card that has no words so that when you need a quick note you can make your card exactly what you need.
I honestly don't know what I would do without Pinterest.  It is the best source of ideas for making cards (and so much more)  This card was inspired by Wendy.
