Specialty Candles

Wednesday, December 31, 2014
These are the candles that we gave to our  boys for Christmas.  Jeff is our second child, but oldest son and he loves the Red Wing Hockey team so I found this logo on line and printed it on tissue paper and heated it onto one of Dale's amazing Very Vanilla Pillar Candles.  Joey is our youngest and he loves the Detroit Tigers, so I did the same for him by finding the logo on line and heating it into a Very Vanilla Pillar Candle.  Since we are not selling these items it is okay for us to use the logos for our personal enjoyment.  I think "stamping" on candles has an endless opportunity of ideas.

Gifts for my down line girls

This is the gift that I gave to all the gals in my down line this year.  I am so very thankful for these girls and how they encourage me in my business as I try to spur them on in theirs. I did CASE this cute bag idea from Becky Roberts.

I think they turned out so cute! - it's all in the packaging you know!!
INSIDE each bag... Each gal received the brad bases and one of the color families of candy dots.

Merry Christmas, Baby!

Monday, December 29, 2014
This darling card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest and was perfect for the special order I received for a Christmas card for a baby.  I love the look of a quilt on the card that was made simply by using the Simply Scored Tool with the Diagonal Plate.  The tiniest little pearls made it all come together.  Thanks Pinterest!

I was shocked that even in my ginormous stock of current and retired designer papers I didn't have an appropriate paper for this card, but I can tell you that the quality of Stampin' Up! paper is far better than the local craft store, BUT I sure was thankful to find something that fit the bill.  I used the retired Build a Mitten Punch and this is also one reason why I NEVER sell my punches even when they retire because they will always come in handy for special requests like this one.

Special order

Friday, December 26, 2014
Today I can share with you some things that I had to put a hold on because they were Christmas gift orders.  This cute purse was a tutorial by France Martin from a couple years ago and I brought it out when my friend from church wanted me to put something beautiful together for her mom for Christmas.  I also used a layout by Brenda Quintana for the cards.  I love the way the entire set fell together (and so did my friend).  Each card has a different color flower on it using the BLENDED BLOOM SINGLE STAMP and the fabulous BLENDABILITIES markers.
Just a HUGE heads up in case you haven't received your FREE copy of the New Occasions Catalog and the Sale a bration Catalog yet, there are 4 NEW pastel colors of BLENDABILITIES markers just perfect for Spring AND you can earn FREE BLENDABILITIES Markers in the current colors (except the skin tone and color lifter) when you place a qualifying order during Sale a bration (January through March).  Just a refresher on Sale a bration - For every $50 order you place during Sale a bration you get to choose one item from the Sale a bration catalog for FREE!  You heard that right! FREE!!  I would say that this year is the BEST offering of product I have seen yet!! and I am so excited to be able to share it with you.  Why not book a personal card making class in my home or yours to earn these FREE products plus so much more!!  Contact me at christiwaite@gmail.com to schedule a time that will work best for you.

Prince of Peace

Thursday, December 25, 2014
Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas today!  We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with my parents and today our children and grandchildren will come for dinner and a time of gift giving.  My "love language" is giving of gifts so this is always fun for me.  It is especially exciting this year with a new baby in the family.  We all love our Sweet Sawyer!!  Everything surrounding this day makes me so thankful for the ultimate Gift of Jesus our Savior.
Our church is in between pastors right now.  It is quite a big job for the search committee and we are anxiously awaiting on God's choice for our head shepherd, but we have also been very blessed to have an interim pastor willing to fill in every week until a man is chosen.  We absolutely love Pastor Bill and are extremely thankful for him.  During the weeks approaching Christmas he has been preaching on the names of Jesus. "Wonderful Counselor", "Mighty God", "Everlasting Father", "Prince of Peace." So when I saw this card at Glenda's I knew it would be perfect to make for them.  I also had it out for a Tuesday class and it was a big hit.  Very elegant, tone on tone, with Brushed Gold and Very Vanilla card stock.
The lovely double bow was made using the Double D Bow Maker that Glenda's teenage son, Dean, makes. Just click on her link if you want one for yourself.
So Celebrate today the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace - I know we sure will!!
Merry Christmas!!

Noble Deer

Wednesday, December 24, 2014
Another specialty card request - my daughter wanted a card with a deer on it for her Karate Master Rick.  I am only too happy to do this not just for her but for him as well.  They became such a huge part of her's and Tyler's life when they started karate classes several years ago.  Come January they will both be taking their Black Belt Weapons Test.  Glad I will be in town for this event!!
I pulled out my Noble Deer Stamp Set and then went to Stampin' Connection to get inspired and found one by Linda Nelson that fit the bill you can see her sample HERE, but this is how I decided to make mine.
 INSIDE:
Ok want a (quick) tutorial on how to sponge the card front giving the effect of sky, grassy area and the tree line?
I started with my scallop tag topper punch cutting 2" strips  from a backing from the Designer Series Paper - it's more sturdy and held up very well
Then I taped 4 of them together to make it go quicker. You can see that I put a bit of scotch tape over the hole that the tag topper punch makes when you punch it. I didn't want to have to see the little hole in my sponging. (be sure to put tape on both sides of the hole or you might rip your  card stock as you are sponging) also by taping 4 together it eliminated a straight line I was getting by just using one. I have made this sponged sky from a variety of scalloped punches but I was liking the variety of sizes of scallops with this punch.
This picture shows you the sequence of steps that I took to form the sky and grassy area.  Starting with Soft Sky and my cloud maker I sponged the top half, then sponge again with Island Indigo, and then just the edges with Not Quite Navy (a retired color - but still a favorite for this type thing) you could also use Night a Navy ink which is a bit darker.  On the bottom half I started out with Pear Pizzazz, then Wild Wasabi in a brushing motion - left to right, etc and then added a bit of Chocolate Chip to dirty it up.  Make sure to sponge your edges with each color - it gives your image more depth.
Next step is to create the landscape line.  I tore a piece of printer paper and placed them like this across my card front.  I added a bit of scotch tape at the ends to keep them together as I sponged.
Voila` - and then I did a light sponging under this area to blend the colors together.
Added the stamped tree line from NOBLE DEER
Some deer and a Happy Birthday greeting
Here is the finished product again... I used Early Espresso and Pear Pizzazz card stock
On the inside I used the same ink colors for sky and grassy area but I only swirled it - I thought the clouds would make it too busy
While I was on the deer theme I decided to make him a matching candle.  I love it that my hubby makes all our candles so I have a resource right here at home whenever I need one.  You can check out his sight HERE.  (this one has of a Very Vanilla scent) This candle was a little trickier because I used markers for coloring the stamp and then did a little "fill" from the back side of the tissue paper, but was very happy how it turned out.  (on my first try too!!)

Happy Healing

Tuesday, December 23, 2014
Yesterday one the gals at church had surgery to repair a torn achilles tendon.  The injury happened last week, but what a trouper she is!  As you may have see in a previous post our church hosted the Annie Moses Band and our choir backed them up.  Anna wasn't going to let a "little" injury stop her from participating so there she sat on a stool with her crutches nearby to sing and worship.
You might recognize her from a previous post this summer when she sang at our talent night
I knew that I needed to make Anna a special get well card and since she is from Haiti I used the Chocolate Chip Card Stock for the injured leg.
I liked it so much so I made some more for the store
I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest, all I needed to do was change up the color scheme and the stamp choice.
Get well soon Anna!
