Gum Holders

Tuesday, October 30, 2012
Why have a boring pack of gum in your purse when you can carry one
of these fun Holiday themed creations?!
I had a few of the Mentos UP2 gum and made them a Halloween theme
using the tags from the  Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit in the Holiday Mini
#126914 $7.95
but what I really love is how these Christmas themed ones turned out.
The COME TO BETHLEHEM (left) was stamped with StazOn ink
so I didn't have to worry about the ink smearing when I did the sponging,
but on the FIRST CHRISTMAS (right) I wanted to have the baby Jesus in
a warm Chocolate Chip color.  The words are in Midnight Muse and I knew that
both of those would smear, so thankfully I had the new style ink pads that
allow you to heat emboss as long as you do it quickly.
I stamped both the creche and the words then put clear embossing powder on
both and heat embossed it and it went perfectly fine.
The star was stamped with Versa Mark and heat embossed with
gold embossing powder.
A simple 1 1/4" circle punched out of a post it note stuck over
the stars while I sponged created the lovely moon glow.
A little Basic Rhinestone in the center of the stars give it the extra "bling" effect!

Happy Birthday Gracie!!

Monday, October 29, 2012
Today is our grand daughter, Gracie's 7th birthday.
Just recently she has had some medical issues and spent an overnight
visit to the DeVos Children's Hospital.  She loved all the attention she got.
She is doing well now and we are very thankful.

If you follow my blog on a regular basis you know that our daughter, Julie, and
our grandson, Tyler, are both into karate.  Gracie tried it, but she is a true ballerina.
I love this picture that the photographer captured.
These two are quite a pair and we are so thankful that they are ours

Here she is in her pink ballerina outfit
Gracie is having a Rapunzel birthday theme this year and I will share a
picture of her cake later, but for now - here is the card that I made for her
She is our little princess...
Punches used:
Wide Oval, 1" Circle, Heart To Heart
The swirls for the Princess coach runner are from a retired
extended length sizzlit die.

You have seen me used My Digital Studio lately and now Stampin' Up!
is making it even more special with FREE downloads and 50% off

Time for another Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge
This is the final results...
Want to see how it all came about??
This is the sketch we had to work with...

When Rachel came for our weekly play day I asked her how to do a few things on My Digital Studio because she is a real pro at it.
I learned how to fill an area with designer paper
so I could make blocking like on the sketch challenge.
This is what I came up with...
Kind of plain, I wanted to color the little girl in, and I was too lazy to do it on MDS, so I printed this out, added a card base of Riding Hood Red, then colored in my little girl from GREETING CARD KIDS and added a Riding Hood Red Taffeta bow.  The white parts of her coat I envision them to be furry so I added Dazzling Details Glitter Glue so now she sparkles too.
Here is the finished card again...
Click HERE to see what the other Red Hot Stampers came up with for this sketch.

Fun Tic Tac Holders PLUS

Saturday, October 27, 2012
As I am preparing things for our craft sales I felt I really had enough items but I wanted to make sure I used the food type items so they didn't get old.  I have done Tic Tac holders in a variety of ways but I had orange Tic Tacs on hand and when I saw this pumpkin Tic Tac holder on Dawn Griffiths blog I thought it would be fun to give it a try, and it is so super easy - hop on over to see her easy tutorial.
Dawn also has a cute Frankie and Ghost, but I didn't want to use my white Tic Tacs in a Ghost theme, I really wanted to make a snowman one so I created my own snowman version using the 1 1/4" circle punch and the 1" circle punch.  I thought my little snowman was missing his orange nose so I went out and purchased an orange Sharpie Marker to color a Basic Pearl orange.  I think it completes his face.

Of course, just like yesterday's post I used My Digital Studio to print out
the pieces from Joyous Celebrations.
The Embossed area is covered with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
so this card REALLY Shines!!

Trash or Treasure

Tuesday, October 23, 2012
One item I rely on all the time is the Terrifically Tacky Tape
especially when putting together boxes and so forth.
I can't even count how many of these packages I have thrown out
without thinking, when one day I looked at it in a new light and
wondered what I could use it for.
TADA!! One of Melissa's favorite candies is the Reese's Peanut Butter
cups so I thought this would be another perfect little gift to treat
Melissa in her birthday celebration month.
The one on the right holds some YORK pieces along with
a few white MandM's and they totally sold out at the craft sales!!

Joyous Celebrations and a Fun Find

Monday, October 22, 2012
I thought this was a pretty card by Becky Roberts and wanted to CASE it,
but I did not purchase the stamp set
Joyous Celebration #128066 wood mount $22.95 or #128069 $15.95.
What to do?  Head on over to My Digital Studio of course!!
Thanks to my hubby who cranked out the Champagne Glimmer Paper because my
shoulder is bugging me!! He sure is a Jack of all Trades!!
Now on to my Fun Find...
When he cranked out the snowflake
(using the NEW Snowflake die called SNOWFLURRY #127813 $21.95)

the Champagne Glimmer Paper (#127885 $4.95 for 2- 12x12 sheets)
was over a portion of one of the other snowflakes
and this is what came out...
I thought it looked like a little crown.
Who wears a tiny little crown like this??

my cute little frog prince does!!
Here is the card I made for him to go on.

For this weeks sketch challenge I channeled my inner "Sara".  Sara is my fellow Red Hot Stamper and the best sponger, shader, I ever met.
When I saw this sketch we had to work with...
I immediately thought of some sort of shading.
I also thought the large circle area would be a great sun or moon.

Now what to do with these ideas...

I decided to make it a moon which illumines the SON!!
 I love Christmas,
but more than that I love the Christ of Christmas!!
And to me this depicts the Reason for the Season!!

Now hop on over to the Red Hot Stamper Blog to see what the other gals came up with for this sketch challenge.

For my shading I used a variety of blues: Bashful Blue, Baja Breeze,
Not Quite Navy and Night of Navy.
For the Moon I used So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and a
smattering of More Mustard

Trash or Treasure?

Do you love to drink these pricey Coffee Drinks?
My hubby does, but I am too cheap to buy them for him.
Once in a great while I break down and buy him some, but mostly
I have lovely friends who will donate their empty containers to
my craft sale stash.
I have used these for a variety of things over the years so this
year when I was pulling out my supplies I was wondering what
I could do with them to be different.

I saw the Santa jar idea on
Pinterest so wanted to give that one a try for sure, but I had several
that did not have covers...Hmmm what to do with those?
Well, owls are a HUGE theme this year so I made a fun owl band
and filled a medium size clear tube sleeve with candy corn mix
so it could hang out the top.  WINNER!! It was one of the first items that
sold at the first craft sale!
Check out the top of the Santa Jar...
I used My Digital Studio to create the medallion
It is hard to see on this photo but there is a small reindeer watermarked
behind the 25.  All I had to do was lessen the opacity on the reindeer.
I am really loving My Digital Studio!!
Want to give My Digital Studio a try??

Stampin' Up! has actually dropped the prices on their printing
so now it is super affordable for everyone!!
For simple things like this I just print it out at home,
but for Joey and Melissa's Wedding Invitations we ordered them
directly from Stampin' Up!  I love having the choice options.

Sew Suite Sister

Thursday, October 18, 2012

This card is one I made for my sisters who are all seamstresses.  I had to computer generate the sentiment though, and I also made some with the phrase "Sew glad we're friends" for a couple special friends in my life that share the love of sewing.

Yes, I know the Designer paper is retired but I couldn't post this until I actually gave the cards to all three of my sisters - wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, you know. BUT you could actually make a similar Designer paper yourself by using the stamp set
Button Button #122026 $25.95 wood mount or #122040 $18.95 clear mount

Halloween Craft Sale Treats

Wednesday, October 17, 2012
Thought I would share with you a couple Halloween
themed treats I made for the Craft Sales
Inspired By Becky Roberts
These candy bar treats were made using the TWO TAGS DIE  $21.95 #115954
and the retired stamp set Batty For You.  These pieces were actually "Lucky Leftovers"
from some previous projects.

This next one could be considered a "Trash or Treasure" post
because I used the packaging from one of my FAVORITE Stampin' Up! accessories...
Stampin' Dimensionals #104430  ONLY $3.95 for 300 dimensionals
Slipped in some retired Designer Paper instead of the Dimensional packaging
and it makes a cute package for the GHOUL-AID!

Spider's Bite

Playing with My Digital Studio again and making a gift for
my friend, Melissa, the Kitchen Fairy.

I found these purple bling spider earrings in Rockford (MI) where
I go to my Massage Therapist for my back, hip, shoulder issues
(yes, I am falling apart at the seams!)
I didn't buy them the first time, but as I thought more about it I knew
they would be perfect for Melissa who loves the color purple, and
by now even you all know she is a Halloween fanatic.

I had a plain little black Matchbox Die Box made up and sitting around and
now it worked out perfectly to use it to put these spider earrings in.

I printed out the Spider's Bite from the  Toxic Treats Framable in
My Digital Studio #128139 $3.95
and then cut it out with the Big Shot and the
Labels Collection Framelit $26.95 #125598
And while I was at it I thought I would make her some note papers to match.
I would highly suggest purchasing MY DIGITAL STUDIO
especially now that they have MDS2.  I think it is a great addition
to your stamping fun.
MDS2 Full software - Mac and Windows compatible
Disc #130645 $39.95 or Download #130644 $39.95
or
MDS2+ Full software - Mac and Windows compatible
Disc #130647 $79.95 or Download #130646 $79.95
Or
do you already own MDS? You can upgrade to MDS2
for only $19.95 #130650
(just remember you need to purchase this through my online site, Click on link below)
Check out this Youtube video
  • You can get a FREE 30-day trial version of MDS 2, available from my business website or the Stampin' Up! Online Store. Click HERE to get a FREE trial

Time for a little masculine feel for a Craft Sale item!

I had a bunch of Nautical Designer Paper left over so thought I would put it
to good use on this masculine journal which was inspired by Deanna Tam.

Wouldn't this be a great idea for a guy teacher?  I hear mom's say how hard
it is to come up with a great teacher gift for the guys, well... here's one!!

Making these journals are as easy as 1-2-3
Just cover a composition book with Designer Paper and Voila`

makes it extra special.
