Happy Birthday, Sawyer!

Today we are celebrating our Sweet Sawyer's 12th birthday!!

This photo was taken on their final day of this years home schooling program. They love their ice cream!!

Not only are we celebrating his birthday, but we are celebrating the fact that his recent surgery to remove several concerning spots on his face and body came back as NO CANCER!! We are so thankful for God's continued mercies on this young man (& our entire family) 

He has to endure so much with his XP condition (Xyroderma Pigmentosum) so when we got these great results we knew we would need to celebrate.

Born on the 4th of July - he is our little firecracker!! Many times I will gear his birthday card around the 4th of July theme. This year one of my team members, Debbie, made such a cute card to share with us, that I asked her to make one for me to give to Sawyer. He loved the spinner part of the card. (the center candle topper spins)

I put together this little goodie for him - he loves to work in the kitchen and now he can make a cake for his family. Debbie had a similar treat tray and I copied her. It's hard to see in this photo, but I found a foil pan has an American flag design.

I also made up some goodie bags for all of the little grands - Each bag contains a Little Debbie, a Ring Pop, and a bottle of bubbles all themed with Red, White & Blue.  

The little treats in front contain R-W-B Tootsie Rolls which I had to purchase on Amazon because I couldn't find any R-W-B candies in the stores.

Sawyer chose to go to Applebee's restaurant for his birthday dinner with Bumpa & Yaya.

His choice was Chicken Strips, Mac 'n Cheese & Chocolate Milk.

After dinner out we went to the store to let him pick out his birthday gift. He chose a Hot Wheels City, Mega Loop Garage. He loves to build things with his daddy and he loves to play with cars. He even had a bonus - the set he chose was on sale 1/2 price!!

Today their family came for a burger fry. The hardest part is that we can never sit outside to have a picnic because Sawyer cannot be in the sun. We make do, though. Mommy had a migraine so she stayed home to be quiet and rest, while the rest of the (very noisy) gang came here.

Pup Sympathy

It's been one month without our little Katy pup

Life goes on, but her memory lingers still. 

We purchased a memorial slate plaque, and the day before she passed we imprinted her paw into a mold and added some mosaic tiles to make it pretty

As soon as our grandkids heard about Katy's passing, they wanted to make us some "cards" - these are so precious and come from their hearts. They will be placed in our photo album along with all of Katy's "lasts" photos.

Katy's last walk - she only made it down two driveways and then had to be carried back

The day before she passed she made it outside to the deck and just gazed toward the neighbors backyard. Probably looking for Dexter, the black lab, who she loved to run the fence with. Joyful barking all the way!

She had visitors:

Our daughter Julie & Josh came to say goodbye

And our special neighbor, Paddy, who has puppy-sat for us multiple times, and just loves her so much. Paddy also owns one of Lucy's puppies!

My Tuesday Stampers and my downline team love on all of our dogs every time they come, but I could say "Bev's coming" and she would just wait & wait until she showed up.

This photo was taken on her last day, she was so weak and tiny, down to 5.4#

One thing that Katy loved to do (and all of our dogs) was to sit on the back of the couch and look outside.

We had her for three weeks after she was diagnosed, and cherished every single moment. We hated giving her these treatments to flush her kidneys, but we did it (plus gave her meds) until we could tell it was no longer helping and she wouldn't eat.

Katy, you will live on in our hearts forever!

Sentimental Sunday

It's never too young to start the kids in creating.

Actually they absolutely love to create, but since they know that Yaya  makes cards they want to make cards too. 

I purchased the Circus Celebration Kit for such a time as this when I was asked to babysit while mom went to an appointment.

They were each able to make 2 cards - one of each design.

This kit doesn't have any stamping, so it made it extra easy with small kids

Even 3 year old Oliver enjoyed the crafty time with Yaya.

Family Fun for Christmas

 

Our own personal drummer boy, Sawyer - I'm sure his parents are thrilled with his new drum that we gave him for Christmas (yes, it's the real thing!)

And even more thrilled when Uncle Joey and Aunt Melissa gave the girls these microphones that amplify every sound they make!!

But now they can be Sawyer's back up singers!!

We took Liam to see my dad after Sunday School on Sunday - My dad was pretty emotional when he saw him. 

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas celebration with your families.
