Forever Fern

Today I am sharing a card that I needed to get creative. I liked this card by Jaimie, but she used some Ever Eden Designer Paper and since it has been retired for about a year, I was fresh out. 

To the rescue is the Fitting Florets Designer Paper, but what was I going to use for the pattern that you see in the back?

Dig, dig, dig, through my stash of papers and I found a pattern from the New Horizons  6x6 designer paper (also retired) - I think it all came together nicely.

Now for the dimensions - Jaimie did not share so I pulled out my little pile of misc papers that I keep on hand to help me build my cards.

Here are the dimensions that I came up with:

Base: thick Basic White 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"

Basic White: 4" x 5-1/4" embossed with the BARK embossing folder

Layer One: 3-1/2" x 1-1/2"

Layer Two: 3" x 2-1/2"

Evergreen strip: 5/8" x 4-3/4" flagged on both ends

Basic White Circle #6

Stamp Set: Forever Fern

Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon 

Festive Pearls

Tip: for the larger fern stamped image I used Soft Succulent Ink and stamped it off once. The fern in the foreground is stamped with Evening Evergreen

Team Make & Take Reverse Masking Technique

The team Make & Take project for this month was suggested by Inez who spotted a technique from Jackie Bolhuis

This is a reverse mask technique that I have done several times over the years, but it is always good to revisit a good technique, and just because I have done this several times it doesn't mean that the gals on my team are acquainted with it.

The idea is to have a simple one layer card that looks dimensional.

By creating a mask using the largest circle (Jackie used the second largest) in the Layered Circles Dies the same size as your card, you stamp your image inside that circle mask, then do a little sponging to give the circle some background color, it comes out gorgeous.

Another idea that Jackie shared was this way to mask

I think this one is gorgeous using the FOREVER FERN Stamp Set

For both cards I am using the ORNATE THANKS Stamp Set
Ok, I will admit I am NOT a one layer card maker, and I love how these cards came out. However I HAD to give a try at stepping it up

The layers dimensions are:

Card Base: 4-1/4 x 11

1st layer: 5-1/8 x 3-7/8

top layer: 5 x 3-3/4 (all in Basic White)

Another tip for stepping up your one layer card: use Wink of Stella Shimmer Paint Brush to give your flower some glitz.

I challenged my team to use the Masking Technique on another card using a different stamp set.

I absolutely LOVE this leaf spray die from the ARTISTIC DIES

The leaf and flowers were cut from some of the EXPRESSIONS IN INK Specialty Paper Pack (third from the left on the top row). There's a sweet thread of gold foil running through the pattern.

The flowers (using the IN THE TROPICS DIES)  were cut from some of the flowers in the print fourth from the left on the top row.

I am forever grateful for talented demonstrators that allow us to CASE their creations. This one was inspired by Su Mohr

The "HELLO" comes from FOREVER FERN

The die used is from FLORAL GALLERIES DIES

I used the Gold Metallic Pearls for the centers of the flowers

Hello, Fern!

I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I pick up my Forever Fern Stamp Set (#154094) and dies to add just a little something to a card. For me it is a "must-have." 

The Forever Greenery Designer Paper is so very gorgeous! (#152492) I am not a "green" color person, but with the blend of several of Stampin' Up! green colors, it just POPS!! AND...a little bit goes a long way on your cards so you get a big bang for your buck. The Greenery 2 pack Embossing Folder (#152716) gives your card so much more dimension than if you left your card stock plain. 

Notice the little Gold Hoop Embellishment (#152474) - super elegant, and they are flat enough to not add too much bulk to your card for mailing. I also added a few of the Blue Adhesive Backed Gems (#153547)

The ones on the left have that iridescent sheen so work perfectly with the different shades of green in the designer paper. The tiny little bird die is from the Well Written Dies (#151816), cut with Pretty Peacock card stock and embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder (#151775). This card was featured at my Tuesday class this week, and was inspired by Judy May.

This card was one of my favorites from the September Stamp a Stack Class

I had a few kits left over so made some with the Thinking of You sentiment. Seems like I can never have enough of those around.

The 4 different shades of green on the leaves are Granny Apply Green, Shaded Spruce, Garden green & Pear Pizzazz. This card was inspired by Jackie Bolhuis who made hers a wedding card.

The new Textile Embossing Folder is a great background on the Whisper White
