Sentimental Sunday

Two big events happened for two of our kids on the same weekend.
Our son Jeff was honored through his job at Orkin as the Top Termite Inspector in the Midwest Region.  What an honor and boy did they treat him well.  Three days in Chicago at a TOP NOTCH hotel with a stipend to cover his extra expenses, and a wonderful award ceremony.  This is the only picture I have of him receiving his award.

Jessica wasn't able to attend with him but if she had, they would have had a wonderful mini vacation, just the two of them. He really had a great time touring Chicago.
Sawyer was so excited to see his daddy when they picked him up from the airport that he ran and ran to get to him.
I love this!!

The second event on that same weekend was when Julie passed her second level black belt test.

Tyler was able to play a part in her test and she got to "take him down"

The short skits that they do at the end are my favorite.
Julie's theme was about taking kids out trick-or-treating when 4 zombies attack!

This is the card that I made for Julie, grabbing a clip art from on line and coloring in the black belt.  I used My Digital Studio to add the sentiment. When Gracie saw the photo I chose she said she thought it looked like her mom.

As I am writing this post I realize that I never made a special card for Jeff's accomplishments! - sorry Jeff!

We are so proud of all our kids! They are all such hard workers and bring honor to us as their parents.

Sentimental Sunday

Yesterday our 14 year old grandson, Tyler, earned his 2nd Dan, 2nd Level Black Belt in Karate!!  We couldn't be more proud!

This is the card that I made for Tyler.  After all the belt tests over the years, I'm having a hard time coming up with something unique.  No other color is needed this time except that Tyler will get another gold stripe on his black belt.

Sentimental Sunday

It's official! our daughter is a BLACK BELT!  We couldn't be more proud!!!

 I can tell you that I would NOT want to be on her bad side (or meet her in a dark alley)

The award ceremony... Julie, her best friend, Julia, and Julia's 14 year old daughter, Taylor, all earned their BLACK BELTS that day.  I loved watching them test.  I think the skits that they have to do at the end are my favorite.  Each one's skit was perfectly fit to their personalities.

Because Tyler is already a BLACK BELT (he tested last November) they gave him the privilege to hand the Black Belt to his mom!  Rather emotional

Taylor and Tyler have been best buds since birth so this too, was an emotional and sweet time when they bowed to one another

 And then the BIG hug!!

A week before our vacation I was so very thankful to be able to watch Julie and Tyler test for their Black Belt in Weapons.  I am so extremely proud of these two and their accomplishments.

Sweet Saturday

Today's SWEET SATURDAY post is for our grandson, Tyler.  Last week Saturday, Tyler tested for, and was awarded, his BLACK BELT in Karate!!  WOOT ! WOOT!
Even though we could not be there because of the Washington DC trip we were certainly there in spirit.  Julie Face-timed us so we got to watch a portion of his 4 hour test and then of course she put videos on Facebook so we got to see those.  What a great accomplishment for a 12 year old!  So PROUD of him!!  I made up his cupcakes ahead of time so all Julie needed to do was take them out of the freezer.  I printed out the Black Belt symbol and Julie assembled the cupcake picks for each of them.

Someone else was so sweet to make this cake for him too

Brown with White Stripe

Our daughter Julie just completed her next level in Karate and achieved her Brown with White Stripe Belt.  We are so proud of her diligence with her training.  This is the card that I made just for her.
