National Anthem

Wednesday, December 30, 2009
For today's post just click on over to http://thewaiteestate.blogspot.com to view and hear the video that we posted of our son, Jeff, singing the National Anthem at the Grand Rapids Griffins Hockey game on Sunday. Needless to say, we were the proudest parents there.

I have been working on scrapbooking this holiday time off, I'm hoping to get some more photos up soon.

In the mean time...

DSCF2004DSCF2006Back View

Wanted to make up a simple gift for Tyler and Gracie to give to my two day care girls during our gift exchange.  I had two notebooks on hand, but wanted to make them age appropriate for the girls.  Then I remembered the Storybook DSP I had on hand.  I was able to get one journal covered with one sheet of the DSP.  Then I used some retired DSP from 2009’s Sale-a-bration flyer.  I was so thankful to have the colored pencils on hand to round out the fun gift.  The girls can color their own cover as well as draw, write or whatever they choose on the pages inside.  I can hardly wait to start earning more FREE merchandise during 2010 Sale-a-bration starting January 5 – March 30th.  When you purchase $50 in merchandise you get one item free from the Sale-a-bration flyer.  If you were one of my customers in 2009 you should be receiving your copy in the mail soon.

M&M’s !!!!!

Sunday, December 27, 2009

Anyone who knows me, even remotely well, will know that I am an M&M FREAK!!! Not so much because I LOVE the candy (especially peanut M&M’s if you’re taking notes he-he) but just because of how CUTE they are and the personality they have. I LOVE watching their commercials on TV and cheering on the M&M NASCAR – no matter who the driver is – I’m rooting for the CAR!! When we were in Florida I made my way to the mall (All by my little self) JUST to go to the M&M WORLD store. They have a NASCAR car right in the store!! I just love browsing (and buying) and there are only three M&M WORLD stores nationwide so I HAD to take the opportunity to go there. When I was there I picked up these cute airplane candy dispensers DSCF2053– one for me and one for our grandson, Tyler. DSCF2019He thought it was pretty cool getting an M&M thing, just like what Gramma likes. I also was able to get the pink ribbon breast cancer awareness carDSCF2058 to go with my other M&M toys. DSCF2057Then I opened this gift from our son Jeff … HOW CUTE!!! DSCF2052I LOVE them!! Our daughter Julie has a salt and pepper collection and she was threatening to come steal them ;) That was, until she got her own set – slightly different – from mine. Then I am sure you all remember the M&M airplane candy my friend Jayne gave me. Now look what my friend Marla gave me today … She saw them and JUST HAD to get them for me. DSCF2055I can hardly wait to play a competitive game of Yahtzee! And look at how CUTE the dice are!!! DSCF2056Thank you everyone!!! Hope you all had an M&Merry Christmas too!!

Greetings Received

Saturday, December 26, 2009

This year we received so many wonderful Christmas Greetings from our friends and family. Thank you all so much for your wishes of Peace and Good Will as we celebrated our Savior’s birth. I just wanted to share with you all the beautiful handmade cards that were sent to us.

DSCF2047

This one is from dear friends Chris and Peggy. Peggy is also one of my STAMP10 gals. Thanks Peggy!

DSCF2038 This one is from a fellow Red Hot Stamper Arlene Laio all the way from Oahu, Hawaii. Arlene is also my second level down line.

DSCF2039This one is from Glenda, my up line demo. Thanks Glenda you are the BEST!

DSCF2041This card proclaiming peace is from Geri, one of my STAMP 10 gals. I love seeing the wonderful cards they create and sharing them with me.

Rachel sent me this one. DSCF2045She is another Red Hot Stamper who we have SO much fun with. I love the non traditional colors she used in her card. If you have followed my blog, Rachel is one of the gals that I went to Regionals with in September.

DSCF2046 Last, but not least, is this elegantly simple card from a cousin, Greg and Rachel. The extra special part is that she reminds us all that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. She also included a beautiful picture of their family inside.

Merry Christmas!!

Friday, December 25, 2009

In this weeks ADVANCE newspaper (did you know I used to work there in the layout dept?) I read the Mother Lode column by Cathy Runyon. I remember Cathy when I worked there and she was such a sweet lady who loved the Lord. It was evident in how she lived and how she wrote her articles. In the busyness of life I normally skim very lightly over the articles, but for some reason I decided to read Cathy's column. In it she talks about babies being born in December vs. January. Do you want a tax deduction or in Cathy's case she hoped to deliver in January when her insurance coverage kicked in. She talked about Christ and His special birth (which wasn't December 25 by the way) but that Mary and Joseph were on their way to be "counted" - most likely something to do with paying a tax. At the very end she says " On December 25, the gifts are a reminder that Chrismas is all about that one special birthday. And while your tax bill is still to come, rejoice! The debt for sin is paid. Merry Christmas!" And to this I add..."AMEN, and AMEN!!" Have a wonderful Christmas everyone.

One last Christmas card to share with you all. I am glad to put away the Christmas stamp sets for a while and work on some fun, fresh new ideas. But in the mean time I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

I hope you are enjoying time spent with your family and loved ones.

Yesterday’s post was Gift Card Holders, but sometimes you are just going to be giving Cold Hard CASH for a gift. Sure, you could fold up your dollar bills and squeeze them into a gift card holder, but here are a few Money holders I have on hand.  I think my favorite one is the wedding money holder.  How about you?

Gift Card Holders

Wednesday, December 23, 2009
DSCF2051At October’s down line meeting Glenda challenged us to each come up with a gift card holder. Since we made this gift card holder in October’s STAMP 10 class I thought I would just bring this one along. When November’s down line meeting was canceled I thought maybe I could bring this oneDSCF2002 That we made in December’s class. When I checked on my stock of gift card holders I realized that I had a ton on hand. Can’t forget this one that I made a while back… Now which one should I bring? DSCF1496DSCF1497 Oh, I’ll just bring them all and give one to each of the ladies at the meeting. which one do you like best??

scrapbook pg

It has been a LONG time since I have worked on my scrapbooking, so it felt really good to pull this out and work on it again.  Actually I was looking for a page with family pictures to use for my TRADITIONS post when I ran across this unfinished page. I had two pictures and the phrase idea so I had to find one more picture to complete it.  Of course, my favorite subjects are Tyler and Gracie and my sweet hubby too.
