Nuts About Squirrels

Monday, August 22, 2022

Remember the little squirrel I stamped for the card that I posted yesterday? I could not just let it sit on my work station for as long as I let the other items set there so I went to work to make a treat to coordinate with a card that the stampers made at a Tuesday class.

I cased this card from Susie, but I decorated the treat bag using the PEEKABOO TREAT BAGS (item #159252) with the RINGS OF LOVE Designer Paper that you can get for FREE during Sale a bration with a qualifying purchase.
Stamp Set: Nuts About Squirrels (item #156475)
Other: Scallop Contours Dies (item #155560), Tasteful Touches Dies (*retired), Linen Thread (item #104199), Bark Embossing Folder (*retired), Leaf Labels & Amber Gems (item #159969)

Chasing Squirrels

Sunday, August 21, 2022

Do you remember on my last blog post that I said that I had a bunch of those trees to cut out from the HAPPY FOREST FRIENDS Designer Paper?

I also had several other random pieces laying on my workstation. Things that were left over from another class or project that I didn't have the heart to discard.

I had 2 of these scalloped rectangles sitting there forever and wanted to put them to good use

I added the second largest tree (there are 4 different sizes), and then started to layer - This first card would be Lucy or Tori with their similar coloring and I can envision them trying to play with any sort of creature that would wander into our yard.
This card has a Pear Pizzazz base 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" scored at 4-1/4", Vellum Cardstock (item #101856) cut at 5-1/4" x 4", Basic White cut at 4-7/8" x 3-1/2" and another cut at 4-3/4" x 3-3/8". The Scalloped Stitched Rectangle comes from SCALLOPED CONTOURS DIE SET (item #155560).
The designer paper is retired from the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper Pack that was FREE during a previous Sale a bration.
The clouds (from the WAVES Die Set item #158840) and the grasses (from GARDEN Dies - Home & Garden Stamp Set *retired) plus the fence (from HORIZON DIES *retired) were also just laying there on my work station.
The puppy and turtle from BELLA & FRIENDS (*retired) well, I just always keep a stash of those on hand because I make a lot of puppy cards for when we have litters. And every card is more fun with a puppy!!
My second card was fashioned after Katy. Katy loves to chase the squirrels up our tree in the back yard. All she needs to hear is the word "squirrel" and she makes a bee-line out to find one. She is so funny.
Where did I get that itty bitty squirrel? I stamped a squirrel from NUTS ABOUT SQUIRRELS (item #156475) and then sized it at 30% on the printer (I used cajun craze ink full strength for the outline and stamped off once to fill it in.) of course, now I have something else sitting on my workstation to cut out and use *sigh!
Now you can see what I mean...

Mischievous Mice

Wednesday, January 19, 2022

These are the cards that I shared with the team at our meeting using the Mischievous Mice Hostess Stamp Set from the January to June Mini Catalog.

The balloon is made by stamping the balloon onto the SIMPLY MARBELOUS Designer Paper, fussy cut out, then glued onto the original balloon. Of course, you can color the balloon using your Stampin' Blends, but I loved how the paper gave it this cool texture look. I also use the BASIC BORDERS Dies for an interesting look
I used some sketch challenges to create these cards and used the PATTERN PARTY Designer Series Paper Pack that is a Hostess exclusive item.

I had started by making this cute mouse card using the NUTS ABOUT YOU Stamp Set and making the squirrel into a mouse as seen by Rachel Tessman (who got the idea from Diana Gibbs)

The small circle on card #1 is from when I cut out these circles using the PICTURE THIS Die.

The new 3D embossing folder is from a 2-pack called STRIPES & SPLATTERS (and this one is the splatters). I did find that I needed to spritz the cardstock with water to get a deeper impression, but the water is NOT needed with the stripes folder.
