Sweet Saturday

Saturday, October 31, 2015
We celebrated Gracie's 10th birthday today!  It sure is fun watching her grow up.
This is the cake that I made for her
After the 10 candles... This is "Wishes" the Shopkin.  Gracie is obcessed with Shopkins and she got several more for gifts.
Jewelry kit from Gramma and Grampa
 Make a wish Gracie!
Originally Gracie wanted her cake to be pink with sprinkles on it!  Perfect!! Nice and easy and then her card matched perfectly.  Last minute Julie found this Shopkin cake so we went with it!!
Oh boy! Uncle Joey and Aunt Melissa gave Gracie the "noisy toy" this year...
Sawyer wanted to get in on the fun of opening gifts
Speaking of Sawyer - he is a man on the move.  So much fun to watch him pick himself up and keep on trying

Blissful Bouquet

Friday, October 30, 2015
October was another fun Paper Pumpkin Kit called BLISSFUL BOUQUET.
I was somewhat surprised that it wasn't a Thanksgiving theme, but for our Canadian (and other countries) subscribers it makes sense.  And this kit is actually very pretty.  The photo above is a sampler of exclusive ideas that we came up with for those of you who subscribe under us.
One of the first things that I like to do is to create a 12x12 scrapbook page using my kit, and even though the instructions are included in the exclusive PDF, it is not exclusive so I wanted to share it with you.  If you want to get in on the Paper Pumpkin fun you can click HERE to get to my private link
I chose to use the word THANKS as the title for my 12x12 double scrapbook page because I think this will be a perfect layout for documenting a trip that my hubby and I are taking late December to early January.
My sister and her hubby (who live in South Jersey) contacted us and said that they will be vacationing in Arizona and would we please like to join them.  They got a good deal on the condo with 2 separate sleeping areas, and a rental car.  She said we wouldn't have to pay for any of that, we just needed to get down there.  She also loves to search the airlines for good deals and she got us an amazing price on a flight.  We are pretty excited to go, so the THANKS will be documenting all she did for us to have a great time away with people we love.

Happy Birthday, Gracie!

Thursday, October 29, 2015
Today is Gracie's 10th birthday!! WOOT WOOT!!  I cannot believe she is 10 years old already!!  I sure do enjoy the time I get to be with her.  Thankful that she still enjoys her time with Gramma!
Gracie loves to collect things.  Some of her favorites are Shopkins, Littlest Pet Shop, and My Little Pony.  When I saw this card on Pinterest I knew I had to give it a try for her.  Gracie's birthday party is on Saturday so I will be posting her cake and fun later that day.
Apple Jack is Gracie's favorite pony and you might remember that last year she picked out Apple Jack at the Build a Bear Workshop in the mall for her present
Happy Birthday Gracie, we love you so much!

Howl-o-ween Treats

Wednesday, October 28, 2015
This is the cute little note card that Gracie will find in her lunch bag today.  She has her Halloween party at school tomorrow and I wanted to wish her a fun time and since I don't see her in the morning, on Thursday, today is the day to send the note.  I think this little owl turned out ADORABLE!!
You can see that I made it into a note card - how fun is that??!!  The little witch hat is from the September Paper Pumpkin kit, but seriously, I think the big googly eyes with lashes are what really make her CUTE!!  The stamp set is called HOWL-O-WEEN TREATS and the Framelits are called BOO TO YOU, but you can get them both as a bundle and save 15%.  Be sure to use the HOSTESS CODE ANWC9P9G for the month of October!

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Monday, October 26, 2015
This is one of the cards that the ladies made last week at my Come Stamp With Me Tuesday Class.  It was such a hit I totally sold out.  These took a bit more time to prep for so I made a limited amount, but needless to say - it was a big hit!
Thanks to the inspiration of Julie W on Pinterest!! What a great card!  The pumpkins and leaves are from the retired Fall Fest and Fun Fall Framelits, and I used the "happy" from Good Greetings
The beauty of stamping with the ladies on Tuesday is that I take freedom to use retired stamps, colors and dies.  The hard part is when they fall in love with something retired and I cannot offer to sell them the product.  This one was just too cute to not use it.  Perhaps you purchased this stamp set with fraimlits and now you are inspired to make this cute card for yourself. - You're Welcome!!

Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, October 25, 2015
Many of you have been asking how our Sweet Sawyer is doing so I thought it was about time to give you an update.
Sawyer had to go back to ER in the middle of the night because he was throwing up and his feeding tube came out.  This made for a very tired mommy and daddy the next day, but Sawyer seemed to take it all in stride.
They were delivered this pump for his feedings which gives Jessica a chance to be hands free during the 55 minutes that it take for each of his meals.
Friends and family have been so kind and Sawyer sure doesn't lack for creative toys and books to keep him occupied during this time.
It is fun to see Sawyer exercise his new found freedom with his tongue and this will help him with his eating.  We cannot wait for him to crave table food, but we are thankful for every new step he makes in his progress.
Not much is stopping this little guy - he has learned to climb the steps like a pro, and he is on the verge of walking.
He likes to play under the kitchen table especially now that the heat has been turned on, but they are putting a stop to that because he wants to unplug the diffuser all the time and they need to keep that running to keep the germs out of the house.  Can't take any chances of him (or mommy and daddy) getting sick.
He even gets into his fair share of mischief
Of course, I love it when he gets excited when Gramm stops by, and am thankful when I can help out.
He has had some really good feeding therapy sessions, but the progress is slow.  He is not tolerating some of the foods or the amount which causes him to vomit, but if you think of him and Jeff and Jess we sure would appreciate your prayers for them.  This is a long road to wellness.  Thank you to everyone who have pitched in with meals, visits and acts of kindness, they really appreciate it.

Did You Know?

Thursday, October 22, 2015
Did you know that you can make your own little dots for your cards?
Stampin' Up! sells CANDY DOTS!  LOVE THEM!  they come in every color family: Subtles, Brights, Regals & Neutrals.  Each color family sheet has 10 each of 10 colors so do your math - that is 100 candy dots for only $6.00 per color family.
And they also offer the BRAD BASES in case you need a brad for your card or project.  These Brad Bases are also great for the Basic Rhinestones and Pearls.
Another option which I LOVE are the WHITE PERFECT ACCENTS.  These all white accents come on a sheet of 75 for $5.00 and there are 25 each of 3 different sizes (3/16", 1/4" and 5/16").  These are GREAT because you can color these all white accents pieces with a sharpie marker to make them any color you want. - PERFECT!
So why do I need to make my own little dots for my cards?  I don't - not really, but I like to play around with different ideas and when someone showed me this idea on Pinterest I wanted to give them a try.  Have you heard of Perler Beads?
These are the fun little plastic beads that kids can make cute designs and then you heat them with your iron to melt them all together.  I used them a lot when I was doing day care (until a couple of the kids decided to stick them up their noses and had to go to the Doctor to get them removed - yea - really!)
I headed to the local Dollar Store to pick up a small set to give them a try.  IT WORKED!! How fun are these cute dots??!! You put them on parchment paper in your toaster oven for 12 min at 450 degrees - that's it!!
EXCEPT: don't put them too close together or they will melt together...
What to do? Oh yeah - this is the fun part... I made some 3x3 note cards for Gracie's lunch bag.
I was on a roll - I decided that if I could get all Black beads that would be GREAT and save me some money maybe...NOT!  I purchased these individual bags
My first try: the plastic was of a higher quality so they did not melt enough to get rid of the center circle.  I also left them on the parchment paper too long and I could not peel them off easily so this (thankfully small) batch ended up in the trash.
My second attempt: still did not melt enough but I thought I might be able to use them somehow.  You need to scrape them off your parchment paper after 1-2 minutes maximum or they will stick like my first batch did.
I didn't learn my lesson, I guess, because I went back and bought some White Perler Beads. I thought that because the depth of the wall of the bead was less in the white bead than in the black bead it would work fine - NOPE! still have a hole, (sorry no picture) just not as big as the black shown above, and they did not stay white-white, they discolored a slight bit to more of a Very Vanilla color.  I think I can still use these at some point but I am disappointed in not being able to buy bulk single colors.  I'm not sure I want to invest in the ginormous tub of beads which may or may not work.  I do, however, LOVE the 2 cute little cards I made for Gracie.
Don't forget about the 15% off all stamp sets through Friday October 23rd.
