Weekly Challenge

Monday, August 31, 2020
Slim-Line Cards seem to be the newest rage in card making, so for last weeks challenge I challenged my team to make a slim-line card.
I started out the week by sharing my card
I used the fabulous IN GOOD TASTE Designer Paper. I just love this paper! It is full of wood grains, textures, and tiles.  I chose this tile image for the base of my card that measures 4" x 8-1/2" and fits in an A10 envelope.
I used the stamp set HARVEST HELLOS for the pumpkin, the Leaves are from the GATHERED LEAVES DIES, The wheat sprigs from the SUNFLOWER DIES. The DAISY PUNCH & the MEDIUM DAISY PUNCH along with DAISY LANE Stamp Set made the pretty flowers.  My sentiment came from a past Paper Pumpkin Kit.
Colors included in this card: Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Mint Macron, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede
Now to share the cards that my team made for the Slim-Line Card Challenge:
The first card came in from Inez:
Inez used her Whale Done Designer Paper for this fun card. It reminds me of when my hubby and I went on a submarine ride in Hawaii (on our 25th anniversary year) and as we looked out the round port holes we could see all the varieties of sea creatures.
Rachel's slim-line card has a wonderful fall theme!  Hello, Fall!! She used the TODAYS TILES Photopolymer Stamp Set and made her cute pumpkins from her oval punches.
Lynda used some elements from one of her past Paper Pumpkin Kits for this fun bee-themed card
Linda used the Baby Wipe Technique for beautiful fall leaves for her slim-line card
Vicki  stamped her own Designer Paper, and I used the ornate floral embossing folder.
Karen works at her church with the music program so the MUSIC FROM THE HEART (R) is perfect for her. The slim-line card allows her more surface space to add all of these elements for her music director.
This next card is from Barb using the Painted Poppies stamp set!  Love it!
Bonnie made this fun card with the zebras! and added a very special  #10 to personalize this special birthday card on the inside.
Pam made this beautiful card using the FLOWERS FOR EVERY SEASON 6x6 Designer Paper.
This last card is another one that I made - this time I made it for a special order. She needed 4 little girls, 3 brunettes and one blonde. I'm so glad that she like it! I used the BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS Stamp Set and it was all done with watercoloring onto Shimmery White Paper.

Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, August 30, 2020
We were finally able to celebrate our oldest grand child, Tyler's, graduation from high school
What a crazy year for these kids who could not finish out their senior year, then could not have the normal graduation ceremony.  Open house was another challenge with everything getting switched at last minute by the governor.
We were finally able to celebrate but it looked totally different than what it would have if things were "normal"
Julie rented our church's ministry center where we could have the food, but all the tables had to be outside - Thankfully the Lord blessed us with beautiful weather.
Family and friends stuck around to play some games and enjoy time together.
Here are some photos we took of that day!
This first photo was taken on the night of his drive-up graduation ceremony
Julie did a great job on his displays. Tyler is a black belt (2nd level) in Karate so all of his belts were displayed along with pictures from when he started until he received his 2nd black belt.
It was so fun looking at all of his pictures of his growing up years. The black shirt is his uniform from the restaurant where he works as the pizza chef.
It's been 4 years since I made cakes for anyone
Julie wanted 1 cake just for show. I used sparklers and really thought it would look cool when lit
 ...but not so much -
I guess he was just happy to have grandma's cake again (French Vanilla with Raspberry Filling!)
And couldn't waste a chance to get a picture with Gracie.
She's almost as tall as me now.
I stayed at the cake table serving all night so didn't mingle much, and didn't get pictures of Tyler's table decorations. Julie had balloons tied to hand sanitizers at each table and I made Grad Hat's and Eagle heads (the schools mascot) on medallions for each bottle.
Next step: College - Best wishes Tyler as you pursue your dream!
Love;
Grandma

Life is Beautiful

Friday, August 28, 2020
I love to get new stamps and take a day to play with them
The newest stamp set that I received is LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
I was drawn to the tree image, thinking it would be good for scrapbooking as well as card making. I like that it is not a uniform image.
The first one I cased from one I saw on line, but failed to save the link
Such a beautiful fall tree - there are 4 different colored leaves on this tree... Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie & Terracotta Tile.
This second one was inspired by Connie Babbert. The little fence is from AUTUMN WHEELBARROW DIES. Leaf colors: Daffodil Delight, Bumblebee, Pumpkin Pie & Garden Green although I wish I would have gone with Old Olive I think.
This last one was designed by non other than ME!!
I'm super happy with how it turned out! I used Balmy Blue as my base, then used the Stamp Set SNOWMAN SEASON for my snowman and the greeting.  The little red ribbon on the top hat is from the PLAYFUL PETS Ribbon Combo Pack.
I would be honored to be your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Water Color Fun

Thursday, August 27, 2020
Two beautiful cards that were inspired by Shannon West.
Shannon is the Demonstrator (DDA) from the home office in Utah over the Great Lakes Region.
Occasionally she will have a facebook live event and recently she had one that featured watercoloring.
I would consider watercoloring to be something an AVID stamper would like to do.
I personally love to water color, but it is a bit more intense than I would use at a class.
Shannon featured these two cards and I wanted to give it a try since I have not done any water coloring lately

The BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS Stamp Set is perfect for water coloring but it is also adorable without any coloring or using the STAMPIN' BLENDS.
What I changed up: I added some layers to the card and since I have no idea what colors she used I just used a variety that I thought would be good together.

Weekly Challenge

Monday, August 24, 2020
I was a bit disappointed in how many participated in the last weekly challenge so last week I just told them to share what they have been working on, and wow! did they ever start sharing...
Rachel shared that she was working on completing her July Paper Pumpkin kit
She also shared that she tried the MIRROR IMAGE technique with this seahorse card
Linda K shared that she made these post it note treats for the nurses that work at the nursing home where her mother lives. How very thoughtful!!
Some more cards that Linda worked on
Janell has been working on some fun folds. the Stamp Set that she used is called HALLOWS NIGHT MAGIC
And she also made some gorgeous Christmas cards: she called it de-bossing because she put the silver foil into the embossing folder backwards. Kind of like a happy mistake. The Bundle she is using on this card is called CHERSH THE SEASON.
Janell also made this pretty partial die cut technique card
Lynda C. has been playing with her CUTE FRUIT Stamp Set. She said that her daughter thought that she was using Designer Paper --- and that is the best part of Stampin' Up! stamps, we can make our own back ground paper for our cards.
Pam has been busy working on making cards for the teachers at a school near her home. - How very thoughtful!!
Not everyone was just working on cards -
Cindy made these barn wood tables for her daughter - now that's real talent
Bonnie shared some cute get well cards from BACK ON YOUR FEET stamp set. I guess as we get older we send out more cards for hip or knee replacements LOL!
Carla made a couple very pretty cards - I love how she layered the greenery
Jodie has been working on scrapbooking - and it looks like she has a pretty cute subject!!
Inez's team do an online group event on a fairly regular basis since so many from her team live at a distance. I applaud how well she takes care of her team.
This past weekend their team made cards using a sketch challenge so they are sharing them with me and I am sharing them with you.
 2 cards from Inez
2 cards from Vicki
All the same challenge, and all different. That is the best part of a a sketch challenge
The last cards to roll in are some more from Linda K - looks like she has kept pretty busy because she made at least 10 of each of these cards...
