Bear Hugs

Today I have the privilege of meeting my Pen Pal Becky for lunch.  She and her husband Bob will drive 1 1/2 hrs north and we will drive 1 1/2 hrs south and meet halfway.  We try to do this twice a year and I always look forward to seeing her again.  When I posted about the stamp sets that are retiring, Becky requested that I send her a list of stamp sets that I was going to sell, so I will be carting a nice big box of retired stamp sets down to her, along with an order she placed a while back.  I went through all my files and pulled out the layout ideas for the sets she is purchasing so she will have those ideas as well to help her get started.  As I was going through them I realized I wanted to use this cute stamp set one more time before handing it over to Becky.

Isn't he cute??

Sorry I have been a bit delinquent on my posts lately.  Yesterday was "Play Day", but instead of playing with my friends, I had a chance to 'play' with my two of my sisters.  Our mom is the best hostess EVER and at nearly 84 years old she still loves to have people come to her home and she enjoys cooking and serving them.  For the past 7 or more years she and my dad have had the grand kids that live in the area to lunch every other week. It usually ended up just being our daughter, Julie, with Tyler and Gracie, and my niece with her three girls.  Now that I am not working I can join them too.  We decided now that my sister is living closer we should start a "new recipe lunch" so we met at my parents for lunch and enjoyed some yummy new recipes, afterwards we made a quick run to the store together and then Judy and I were able to get my dress cut out for the wedding.
Hard to believe the wedding is only 5 weeks away.

I have been telling you all what a great deal the $99.00 Starter Kit is especially with the June special of adding a $50 value bundle on to the already $125.00 worth of product you get in your kit!!  I LOVE IT!! you get to customize your kit "YOUR WAY" meaning you get to choose $125.00 worth of whatever product you want and you only pay $99.00 plus tax.  YES! you get your shipping FREE!  that in itself is a 10% savings!!  Tomorrow is the last day to get in on the June special with the added $50 value bundle, but the $99.00 Starter Kit price remains the same for this entire catalog period (until the end of May 2013!!)  Click on the icon on the right side of my blog for all the details.

Raining Flowers?

Wednesday, June 27, 2012
My friend, Rachel, asked which stamp set I would like her to take home and make up some samples for the Open House last week.  Rachel is so very creative that she was not going to stick with the "normal" what the stamp set was most likely intended for.  I received the Raining Flowers Stamp Set at Leadership in January and as much as I looked at it I never came up with these creative ideas.
I am so thankful to have friends who inspire me.
This is what the Raining Flowers Stamp Set looks like...

Now check out the fun creations Rachel came up with...

I would say that these two cards received the most "I love it" comments at the Open House.
Did you miss my Open House?

After Open House Fun

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Yesterday was a day to spend with my grand children doing some things that they enjoy.
Last week we were so busy setting up for the Open House that they had to be patient
with Gramma.  They did great, by the way, but yesterday I intended to spend my time
with them.  After doing some basic morning "stuff" we packed out lunches and headed
out to Maplewood Park.  It has been a LONG time since I have been there, and there
were a TON of changes when we got there.  First of all, they no longer let anyone
swim in the man-made lake (BUMMER), but they built up a wonderful play area and
a BIG Splash Pad area.  We ate our lunch there, and then the kids played a bit in
the Splash Pad,

but they really felt it was intended for kids much younger than them
so we headed out to the local Hughes Park where they had a Blast playing on the
play/park equipment and making friends with all the other kids who were there to play
When we got home the kids wrote in the journals that we made at the beginning of summer vacation about their day.  I printed out these same photos for them to attach.  Hopefully by the end of summer they will have a nice journal filled with all the fun things they did this summer.

This was easy!!  I saw the Red Hot Sketch Challenge for this week...
And CHEATED!!

I had already done a card with a sketch like this and I was giving it to
Melina who had her last Monday Morning Breakfast at Auntie's house.
She's too old now, and doesn't need me in that capacity anymore.
Sad day, yes, I know, but I know we will keep in touch.

Here is what we had to work with...
and BTW...Thanks Rachel, who puts out the challenges for us to do each week!!

This is my take on it...

I used a retired stamp set (but it wasn't retired when I made the card)
called Sun Fun and the Fishy Wheel.
I believe the yellow color goes way back to SUMMER SUN, and the Orange
is ONLY ORANGE also from way back when
Don't dismay, you can take this challenge and do whatever you want with it!!
Click HERE to see what the other gals did with this Sketch Challenge
And this is Melina.
What a special girl she has been to me!!

Have a great Summer Melina! and a wonderful start to Middle School in the fall.
OK... here is another card made with this same sketch challenge
Wow! two cards this week!
This just shows you how you can take a sketch challenge and completely make it your own

Check out my new crafting room!

Saturday, June 23, 2012
Last night was the first night of my Open House.
If you missed it, don't fret, you can still stop on over today.
I will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Some of the specials you will see are the RIBBON SHARES
and the ACCESSORIES SHARES as you see here.
As well as sign ups for upcoming classes.

You will also get to check out my new shelves!!
I am so THRILLED with the organization it allows.
Rachel and Marla spent several hours here on Thursday helping me organize
my new shelves and I must say "I LOVE THEM!"
The Rich Razzleberry color gives the room just the right pop of color
especially since I have to live with plain cement basement walls for a while,
while Dale completes my kitchen.

There are displays throughout the room that my friends and down line girls put together for me.

You will just have to come for a closer look!

When we picked up the shelves from the Blockbuster store they had several
slot wall boards that they were throwing out because no one bought them
during their close out so they said we could take them if we wanted them.
WANT THEM???
we took all 15 of them!!
Not only can I use them in my crafting room,
Dale will enjoy organizing his tool/work room with them.

I even have my craft sale items on display, clearance priced
PLUS whatever you purchase, half your purchase price can
go towards an order from the new catalog.

The remainder of my retired sets are set out for sale,
plus single sheets of 12x12 designer paper are also available to purchase for only .25 each
When you come you can do two Make and Take's
One is this card using BETSY'S BLOSSOMS #126004 $28.95 wood mount
or #126006 $21.95 clear mount
I  can see this is going to be a very versatile stamp set.
The second Make and Take is this cute butterfly with a Hershey Nugget chocolate candy.
These butterflies feature three of our new
EMBOSSING FOLDERS that you are going to LOVE.
They are...
CHEVRON #127149
ARGYLE #127750
FANCY FAN #127751
and they all sell for only $7.95 each.
They also feature the Designer Paper, COMFORT CAFE
#126898 $10.95

I know there are many of you who do not live in my area and cannot come to my open house so I hope you enjoyed a taste of what we had here this weekend.  I really wasn't sure what to expect number wise, but I was happy that I actually had a few ladies show up.  This is all new to me and I am testing the waters whether it is something I will do each year.
For those of you who actually came...
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
it meant so much to me!

Chock Full of Cheer

Friday, June 22, 2012
Here is two more samples I made to display at both Glenda's open house and at my own.  First I made the card and then thought I could probably revamp the same idea for a scrapbook page.  I am loving these cute little mittens from the stamp set
CHOCK FULL OF CHEER #126715 (W) $21.95 OR #126717 (C) $16.95
You can't see it in the photo but I spritzed the Very Vanilla Card Stock with Frost White Shimmer Paint that has been mixed with Rubbing Alcohol.  It gives it a great shimmery, wintery feel.

The Designer Paper I am using is called BE OF GOOD CHEER
#126896 $10.95 for 12 pieces of 12x12 double sided paper.
A GREAT DEAL!!

Just a reminder that my open house is TONIGHT!!
Here are the details...

It's Got To Get Worse Before It Gets Better

Thursday, June 21, 2012
My Crafting Room is a MESS!!
But it can only get better from here, right??!!
What am I thinking?? My Open House is tomorrow!!!!
Luckily these photos were taken on Monday this week so by Open House time
this should look GREAT!!
During Spring Break in April we went to a Blockbuster Movie Store that was going out of business and purchased three wall units that stored the DVD's.  We couldn't pick them up until Monday of this week and we worked VERY hard to get them home, cleaned and assembled in the craft room.

Tyler helped Grampa cut away some of the carpet so the shelf units could sit solid on the cement floor.  Yes, I know, the new flooring and the studded and dry walled walls are a project for a future date, but I at least wanted these to sit firm and not have opportunity to tip.

Gracie helped Gramma put the stamps into containers to store for a few days
She worked so fast she was just a blur
Dale is putting in the last shelf on the third unit
Next step...Painting!!

What color??
RICH RAZZLEBERRY
of course!!
When I showed Tyler and Gracie all the Stampin' Up! cardstock they thought that Rich Razzleberry would look PERFECT for the shelves

Tuesday night Dale painted the second coat and Wednesday morning he put the final touches on the insides corners.  This morning is 'PLAY' Day and Rachel is coming to help me set it all up.  Hoping the paint will be COMPLETELY dry so I can stack my stamps back on them.
Thanks to my handy hubby and his servants heart I am going to have a WONDERFUL crafting room.  (and colorful too!)

Thanks For Stopping By!
and if you live in my area make sure to pop on over for the Open House.  Here's the details again...

Glenda's Open House

Tuesday, June 19, 2012
Today I am helping at Glenda's Open House where she is featuring many of the NEW
products that you will find in the New Catalog.  Glenda purchased each of us a stamp set
of our choice and asked us to make eight different projects with it,
(3D, cards, scrapbook page, etc) and to help her out for a minimum of 4 hours.
I chose to feature the Designer Series Paper BE OF GOOD CHEER #126896 $10.95,
because I could visualize craft sale projects using this new Christmas Designer Paper.
Glenda also purchased for me the Stamp Set CHOCK FULL OF CHEER #126715 $21.95
(Wood mount) or #126717 $16.95 (Clear mount)
and the coordinating Stampin' Around Wheel CHEERFUL CHRISTMAS #127310 $6.50
as a bonus for some of my down line gals promoting.
By The Way... I will be demonstrating how to turn your Stampin' Around Wheels
into a Clear Mount Stamp.
THANKS GLENDA!!

These are the three projects that I considered to be Craft Sale(ish)

Left to Right
Petite Purse
Die #125606 $32.95
Note Holder
Treat Holder

MORE ANGRY BIRDS!!!
As you can see, this time I made more than 12!!
I wish I could take credit for coming up with such cute ideas but, alas,
my mind does not always work in that way, so click back on over to
Danee's blog to check out her Angry Bird postings

I used the Peek-A-Boo Frames Big Shot Die for the topper on my skinny treat bags.  These are so great and I am THRILLED that Stampin' Up! is now carrying this product - and at such a reasonable price too. #

The Red Hot Stamper Sketch Challenge for this week is...

And this is my take on it...

Once again I chose the colors from Joey and Melissa's wedding for my challenge.

The base of the card is Chocolate Chip and the Flourish from Baroque Motifs was stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed with Tempting Turquoise Embossing Powder, then I dry embossed the card front with the NEW Embossing Folder called FANCY FAN #127751 $7.95.  This is actually the debossed side and perfect for the look I was going for with this card.  When I decide what I am going to use the card for, I will add the sentiment on the top left.  It really needs "something" there don't you think?

Sponge Bob

Saturday, June 16, 2012
Who lives with a Pineapple under the Sea?
SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!!

While I am not a huge Sponge Bob fan, my customers are,
so when I saw this card idea made by Kari I thought I
would make a few up to have on hand for all those Sponge Bob fans.
Kari is in LeeAnn Greff's down line and does not have a blog of
her own so LeeAnn posted it HERE on her blog.

Here is a list of the punches you will use for Sponge Bob:
Eyelashes: Word Window cut off straight with a scissor
Eyes: 1/2" Circle in Basic Black, 1" in Blue (I used Pacific Point),
1 3/4" Circle in Whisper White, Kari hand cut a piece of black card stock
to go behind the WW of the eye, but I had a Nestability Framelit that fit it perfectly
Nose: Word Window
Cheeks: 1" Circle
Mouth: Wide Oval in Basic Black, and then punch out a bit from the top
using your 1" Circle punch
Teeth: One Word Window Punch cut in half and trimmed to fit the shape of the mouth
Tongue: Heart Punch in Regal Rose

The base of the card was made using Daffodil Delight card stock and textured
with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  A little sponging in Black
around the cheeks and nose helps to "lift: them apart from all the yellow.
Now that I look at it, I think I am going to go back and add some white
gel pen to the eyes to give him just a bit more character.

Angry Birds

Friday, June 15, 2012
You may have heard me mention that I am on a quest to use up my retired
Designer Paper, well my other quest is to start stocking up for the Craft
Sales this fall.  When I saw all the cute Angry Bird items on Danee Hoang's
blog I just had to try some out.
Yes, they are a bit time consuming, but I think the kids will like them
as well as all the adults that have gotten hooked on this crazy game.

Each little Angry Bird and Pig holds one Chocolate Hershey Nugget
(One of my FAVORITES!!)
I have a habit of making things in 12's so I have one dozen of each,
Red Bird, Blue Bird and the infamous Pig.

 Thanks For Stopping By!

A REAL Play Day!!

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Last week was a wonderfully relaxing day away from the norm
as I sat at Rachel's garage sale.
Did we have any stamps for sale??  Well, take a look...

And this was taken AFTER several ladies came and made LARGE purchases

Friday, day 2 of the garage sale, was not quite as busy as Thursday
OK, let's just say "there is really no reason to have a garage sale for two days"
Yes, it was THAT slow.

But never a waste...
I had Gracie with me in the morning and she and Emily played so
very well together

Mr Tom made us a yummy lunch two days in a row
This was Friday's lunch...
I was so very spoiled!!
Tyler got out of school, his last day, at 1:00 so after I picked him up
we spent the rest of the day RELAXING!!  The kids spend a large
majority of the time in the pool
Thanks for a wonderful two days Rachel!!

This week we are back to playing here and getting ready for my
OPEN HOUSE NEXT WEEK!!
Here are the details...I hope you can make it!!

NEW CATALOG OPEN HOUSE
Friday, June 22, 7-9 PM or Saturday, June 23, 10 AM -1 PM
