At the Beach/By The Tide

Saturday, June 29, 2013
Yesterday I took a day off from stamping and took Tyler and Gracie to Ottawa Beach.  We had a picnic lunch and then they enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan, while I fully enjoyed sitting back with a new book.

Tyler's feet at age 11 are now bigger than mine!
Gracie has a knack for always finding a friend to play with
Now if she could only find one more her age.
Being at the beach reminded me of these cute flip flop cards that I made and displayed at my open house.
I had made 4 cards featuring the Designer Paper called Quatrafancy, but I forgot to take a picture of them before bringing them to the Used To Be New Consignment Shop.  Last night Dale and I took our walk and stopped in at the store and these were the only 2 left so I snapped a quick picture before finishing our walk home.
How cute, thanks to the inspiration by Sandy Trower, the "sand" is made from sand paper that you can buy at any hardware store.  Luckily my hubby has all kinds of handy stuff on hand.  I cut out my own flip flop pattern and backed them in coordinating card stock.

BBQ anyone?

Wednesday, June 26, 2013
Last night was our Punch Art Class and this is one of the fun and easy Punch Art cards we made featuring the BBQ Grill punch art I saw on Debbie Filiowich's blog.  I changed it up just a bit to add the striped textured embossing folder on the card base and I wanted to use the one of the NEW stamp sets out so I chose LABEL LOVE and the ARTISAN LABEL coordinating punch.  These two items can be purchased as a bundle and you save 15%.  Bundle numbers are: WOOD: #132723 $34.75 or CLEAR: #132722 #28.75.  You can buy Stampin' Up! on line, anytime - just click HERE

If you would like to participate in a fun Punch Art Class our next class in July is Tuesday, July 23rd at 7PM. Cost: $12.00.  What you get: Three 8x8 scrapbook style pages with all the instructions for you to take home and store in an album for easy reference. PLUS you make three cards using the Punch Art instructions.  If you pay in advance for your class I hand out a small gift.  This month I made the ladies this cute little punch art bird using the instructions I saw on Diana Gibbs blog.
Stay tuned tomorrow to see the card that I attached my cute bird to.

Paper Dolls Dress Up

Tuesday, June 25, 2013
When I was a little girl I loved to play with dolls and paper dolls.  I could occupy my days playing house and then when I got older my sister taught me to sew.  I could spend hours making fun patterns for stuffed animals and then make them up from fabric scraps that my mom had stored away after a project.  My dear childhood friend, Phyllis, was the complete opposite of me.  She loved to play outside and things like 'Cowboys and Indians' or making streets in the sandbox for her brothers matchbox cars.  We made a great team because she encouraged me to play outside and I 'forced' her to play dolls with me.  To this day we are still dear friends and remembering our childhood days are the biggest topic of discussion when we get together.  When I saw this card idea inspired by Lorri Heiling I just HAD to make some up for the Used To Be New Consignment Shop.

I am so glad that the Dressed Up Framelits were carried over into the NEW 2013-2014 Catalog.

I'm so spoiled

Monday, June 24, 2013
I call my hubby a Jack of All Trades and Master of Most.  He is so handy and loves to have a project going.  If you follow my blog at all you know that he has been working on making me a second kitchen in our basement.  This kitchen will serve as storage for all my cake supplies as well as a second oven for baking and a second refrigerator for keeping them cool before delivery or pick up.  It also served us very well during the OPEN HOUSE last week to serve the ladies who attended.
When "phase 1" was completed he asked me what I would like him to do next.  The original plan was to start on more cabinets for the kitchen, but then I thought about the work station I was dreaming of so he took a week off work to start on my work station.  "Would you like it done for your Open House?" YOU BET!  Thanks babe!  Want to see it?

This is the front - it is all set up for a Make and Take for the Open House.  Underneath he made two shelves that store my envelopes, tape, and so much more.  The two drawers hold so many supplies like pens and pencils, address book and labels - and so much more.
This is the back side.  My hubby painted the two recessed panels with a magnetic paint and then a coat of chalk paint.  This allows me to hang up the monthly specials and I put my certificate from when I promoted to Manager on it.  It is not a terribly strong magnet paint but I purchased extra strong magnets and that works perfectly.

On the sides I had him make shelves specific to what I wanted to store on them.
.
My craft room is quite large and long and I was forever traipsing from my work table to the the other end where I stored everything.  Now it is all neat and tidy and accessible.  I LOVE my work station!!

Dale blogged the work in progress on our family blog.  If you want to see that you can click HERE.

I love stamping on my new work station.  It has a firmer top than the 6 foot table that I was using before and therefore gives me a crisper image - especially when I have a large background stamp.
Now you can see why I say I am so spoiled.  This weekend he made his plans for supplies and will begin work on another cabinet for the kitchen.

Open House Recap

Friday, June 21, 2013
The OPEN HOUSE yesterday was a great success!  While the numbers in attendance wasn't huge, the enthusiasm was contagious and we had so much fun!!  Thank you to all who came, I appreciate it so very, very much.

All the ladies who helped me out or came to the OPEN HOUSE signed in on my magnetic chalk board.

The demonstrations included - how to emboss on your Antique Brads #117273 $5.95 (a returning favorite)
Transforming the original (on the right) to the colorful ones you see on the left.

We also played with the NEW Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds (#131272 $7.95) and the Simply Pressed Clay (#130685 $6.95)

See the sparkles? I added Dazzling Details to the molds before pressing the clay into them.  Lookie how sparkly they are!!
And here is a card made up using some of the Simply Pressed Clay Flowers colored in Daffodil Delight, and featuring the NEW Hostess stamp set BANNER GREETINGS
This card was used for our C3 Challenge this past month
The Make and Take card that the ladies made (inspired by LeeAnn Greff) was a big hit! They were able to try out the NEW Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot which makes using the Framelits SO much easier.  It is definitely a MUST HAVE!  It also features the stamp sets LACY AND LOVELY and SECRET GARDEN along with the NEW In Colors! FABULOUS!!  LOVE the new colors!
The door prize winner for the OPEN HOUSE...

Congratulations Nancy, you won a package of Antique Brads and some Embossing Powder of your choice.

An update on the 50/50 Board: There are only 4 more spaces to be filled before we will do the random draw for a $50 Stampin' Up! product winner!!  Who will it be??  We will only know as soon as the board gets filled.  I can see it happening soon!  Will it be you??

It's been a long, lovely day and I am so thankful to all who made it so special for me.

NEW Catalog OPEN HOUSE

Thursday, June 20, 2013
YEAH! Today is finally the day for my NEW Catalog OPEN HOUSE!  I thought this might not happen but the flooring guys showed up early yesterday and were gone by noon.  My sweet hubby took the day off work and we worked together all afternoon to get everything in place.  I am SOOOO happy with how it turned out.
We even got the blind hung on the window.  This room is by far not done because we will be adding cabinets for storage - no more shelving racks!! yeah!!
The craft room is still a work in progress of course but this table is set up with new stamp sets and product
This is the chalk board that my hubby made me from an old screen frame.  He spray painted it white then added a 1/4" board that he painted with magnetic paint and then a coat of chalk paint.  I love how I can put the specials up for all to see and then using my neon chalk markers I can add some words, etc.
This table is set up for the Make and Take card - we will be using the NEW Magnetic Big Shot Platform.  This is by far the BEST new product in the catalog!
This is my new work station that my hubby made me - oops - please forgive the paper recycle basket.  The sides have storage and under it has storage and on the back side he did the magnetic paint and chalk paint like the one on the wall.
This table is set up for class sign ups, Ribbon Shares, Door Prize drawing and the coveted NEW Catalog.

I can't wait until you all show up!

See you soon!

Cakes

Monday, June 17, 2013
This past weekends activities included making this cute little fire engine cake...

I'm sure Dexter had a really fun 3rd birthday!

I also decorated this cake for a wedding we attended...

They served strawberry shortcake to all the guests but this one was just for them.  Angel food cake cut in three layers filled with Mascarpone filling and decorated with fresh strawberries.  The Bride and Groom were delighted! Exactly what they wanted!
Congratulations Chuck and Val! Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day.

We made up these signs for the back window of the van to that when we are driving slow and taking our corners extra cautious we won't get beeped at.
How do you like my hubby's reflection!  hehe

 This weeks Sketch Challenge...
And this is my take on it...
I stamped the girl a second time on Strawberry Slush Card Stock (doesn't this new In Color sound delicious!), cut out the dress and adhered it to the first stamped image.  The Specialty Designer Paper is called Quatrafancy #130141 $12.95. The reason this is Specialty Designer Paper is because it comes with 2 sheets of printed window sheets.  Therefore the price of $12.95 instead of the regular Designer Paper at $10.95

The Happy Birthday stamp is from a NEW stamp called LABEL LOVE #130622 clear $17.95 or wood #130619 $24.95 It coordinates perfectly with the NEW ARTISAN LABEL PUNCH #130920 $15.95.  Buy them as a bundle and save 15%. #132723 wood $34.75 or clear #132722 $28.75.  Once again I used the STYLIN' GIRL Stamp set on page 55 of the NEW Catalog #130700 Wood $18.95, or #130703 Clear $14.95.   The NEW Modern Mosaic Textured Embossing Folder #129984 $7.95 matches perfectly with the Quatrafancy Specialty Paper.
