Happy Birthday Tyler

Monday, May 31, 2010
Today is our grandson, Tyler’s, 8th birthday.  It is so hard to believe that he is growing up so fast.  Tyler is in his first year of machine pitch in Little League baseball so I thought that this card would be appropriate for him this year.  Actually our whole family is baseball fans…especially the DETROIT TIGERS!!  It was so much fun watching our own sons play baseball and Joey played all the way through high school on the Eagles baseball team. Those were such FUN years, but now we get to watch Tyler play. Sooooo…..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER!!

Ok, I know Tyler’s cake doesn’t match his card, but he wanted a Super Mario Bros. cake this year and when everyone comes over we plan to play Mario Kart on the Wii.  I know that Gramma won’t be the one winning any games on the Wii, but it sure will be fun to watch everyone play.  Sure hope Tyler likes his

The Magestic Eagle

Sunday, May 30, 2010
Our son, Jeff, LOVES eagles so when I saw this card front at our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's combined garage sale I knew I had to get it and assemble it into a card for Jeff for his birthday. Since this is a retired set I couldn’t make my own, I just made this front my own by adding a favorite verse and birthday greeting.

Happy 29th Birthday Jeff!!!

Isaiah 40:31 – But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall rise up with wings like eagles; they shall walk and not be weary, they shall run and not faint.

Diamond Crimped Card

Friday, May 28, 2010

Do any of you out there have a crimper sitting in your craft room collecting dust and you just aren’t sure why you ever bought it in the first place?  Well, here is a technique just for you…I showed the ladies at the Techie class how to fold and feed the paper through their crimper to create this diamond effect on their card.  They couldn’t believe how easy it was, and were happy that they had a new inspiration to pull out their crimper and try new things with it.

classic pick ups 3

Our son-in-law, Jeremy, is celebrating his birthday today. So I pulled out a favorite retired stamp set of mine called Classic Pickups, and a retired background stamp called Flannel Plaid to create this card for him. We hope you have a great day! We will be celebrating Jeremy’s birthday, our son, Jeff’s, birthday and our grandson, Tyler’s, birthday on Memorial Day when we all get together.

The Winner is...

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Sorry to all my faithful blog followers.  I failed to add a name of the winner of the door prize Fancy Favor Box.  Truth is, I only had two ladies show up and didn't have the heart to not include them both so I gave the treat box I made and the treat box from my upline, Glenda, so that they both went home with a goodie box.  The techie class was a success, and I know from here on it will get easier and more comfortable, and we had so much fun.  The ladies loved the techniques I showed them.  My next Techie class will be Tuesday, June 29th at 7:00. I hope many more of you can come because I have some fun techniqes already planned.

Floating Reinkers

Last night was our first (hopefully of many) techniques class. We did four techniques, but used the Floating Reinker Technique on two separate cards. It really shows the diversity of the technique.
This first card is made just like the pansies that I had on my Fancy Favor Box for the Scrapbooking Day, Saturday.  Since I did not have any scrapers sign up under me I thought I would use my box as a door prize for my first techniques class.
When I first saw this idea it was done up as a sympathy card but I thought it was too fancy for a sympathy card and since I have wedding on the brain I thought it would make a beautiful wedding card.

floating reinkers pansies
This second card, like I said, is using the same technique and I used the Fifth Ave. Floral Stamp Set. Doesn’t it make a beautiful rose?! The fun of a techniques class is that the ladies can pick their own colors and make it their own creation.

Wanted

Monday, May 24, 2010

Thank you to Glenda who let me borrow this stamp set a while back. It was probably her card idea too, I just can’t remember. My niece, Heidi, loves horses and even though she does not have a horse of her own, she loves them none the less and enjoyed caring for them and riding them when she was younger. So even though this card looks a bit masculine, it is a perfect fit for Heidi. Have a great birthday Heidi!!

Bowling Ball Cake

Sunday, May 23, 2010
This past weekend I was asked to make a cake for one of the boys in our church who is turning 7 years old.  They decided to have a bowling party so asked if I could make a bowling ball cake.  Since it is rather small I thought they needed some ice cream sundae cupcakes to go along with it.  These are usually a huge hit at our summer Wednesday Night Dinners at church.  Sadly they do not transport very easy so I end up decorating them on site.

Fancy Favor Box

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Today our Stampin’ group – the Red Hot Stampers – is having a 10 hour scrapbooking event. We are expecting up to 40 ladies to attend so we should have a super fun day! (I will be posting the scrapbook pages that I complete soon.) There are 7 of us Demonstrators that are pooling our efforts into this fun event and each Demonstrator was to make a Fancy Favor Box for all the guests that signed up under her, then we would fill it with candy that we all brought.

This is the box that I made…fancy favor box

Change up the words and it would make a cute wedding favor don’t you think? I also embossed the box with the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder. I really like how it adds that little bit of dimension to it. The paper I used is called “Bride” Specialty paper. It also comes in “Groom” – blacks, and “Bridesmaid” – vanilla.

My friend and co-demonstrator, Rachel , taught us how to make these pansies from the butterfly punch. I brought my pansy home from the meeting and made this card…

114a 114 This is a close up of the flower. Each flower comes out looking totally different. On Tuesday I will be teaching this technique to the ladies who attend my very first techniques class. I can hardly wait! And there is still time to sign up...just give me a call. I will share the card we make with our pansies on my Wednesday blog post.

We are so THRILLED to announce that our son, Jeff, is engaged to marry Jessica! He popped the question last night and she said “YES!” Jessica is such a wonderful gal and I know that they will be very happy together. It will be so much fun watching and maybe even helping them plan their wedding.

This is a card I had made up for my craft sales because people would request wedding ideas.

I thought this one would be great for “Save The Date.”

Kiss a Frog

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

One of the young gals from church who is in college right now recently had to have her 4 wisdom teeth pulled. Her comment on facebook, besides “ouch!” was “I can’t feel my lips!” so I just HAD to buzz off this fun card to her. I added the big fat lips to the frog to get my point across. Hope you are feeling better Val.

World’s Best Baseball Mom

This past weekend I was hired to make two birthday cakes for two different families. This first one (I will share the second one tomorrow) was for a gal at church who has four boys who are all in baseball – so you can imagine how busy she is getting them all to their appointed fields and watching all their games. So this year her husband wanted me to make a baseball themed cake for her and came up with “Happy Birthday to the World’s Best Baseball Mom” to be printed on the cake. It is always a surprise for her each year to see what he comes up with. worlds best baseball mom 2 worlds best baseball mom 1 The boys were thrilled, and she said it was wonderfully delicious.

STAMP 10

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Last month at our STAMP 10 class I asked the ladies what types of cards they would be interested in me featuring at the next STAMP 10 class and it was unanimous that they wanted MEN cards – so I listened and decided to come up with an all masculine theme for our May STAMP 10 class. These are just a few of the cards that we made at last nights class. So if you are signed up to come to the Thursday class this will be a Spoiler Alert.

May '10 3

My husband, Dale, is VERY handy around the house. Over the course of our nearly 33 years together we have done MANY remodeling projects to our homes. In fact, we are in the middle of stripping wall paper and repainting right now. Of course, nothing can be simple…because our new refrigerator is rather large he needs to cut down a cabinet to give the refrigerator some “breathing room.” I sure do appreciate all the works he does around here and subsequently all the money he has saved us.

SS: Totally Tools
CS: Really Rust, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla

May '10 1

A masculine Sympathy card – sometimes these are the least favorite type cards to make, but they are some of the most important to send.

SS: Lovely As A Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes
CS: Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Technique: Thumping (markers)

May '10 2

A fun card for the little boy in your life.

This is a card that I made for Kelly to give to her basketball coach at the end of her basketball season. DSCF2055DSCF2056. It is hard to believe that 13 years ago she was just a 5 month old baby and spent her days at Auntie’s house. Now here she is all grown up and playing on the 7th grade Basketball Team. GO KELLY!!! Of course, it doesn’t surprise us that she made the team. I was able to make only one of her games, but I was glad to at least get that one game in – thanks to my sweet hubby who stayed with the kids so I could go. Now, that’s special !!

This is Kelly #14 and here she is shooting a free throw - what form!

Keeping with the whole basketball theme, this is a card I made for a gal from church who made All-Area Girls Basketball-West.
