Confirmation Cake
Monday, April 29, 2013
Yesterday my buddy, Lake, was confirmed in his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at his church. I am so blessed to have had 11 years of caring for him and his sister, Kelly, while Mom and Dad worked. Now I am blessed to be asked to make his confirmation cake. This photo was taken at our front door when the boys were little. This photo hung on their wall all these years and now it is on his cake.
CONGRATULATIONS LAKE!! I LOVE YOU!!
Lake's mom text me this photo so I wanted to share with you to show you what an amazing young man he has turned out to be. You can see he really hasn't changed too much, he's still my Lake.
Now here is some good news for all of you cake makers and cake customers out there - I now am the proud owner of an Edible Image Printer!! I can now take orders for an edible image on your cake, and keep the price reasonable for you. Cost is only $10.00 extra!! WOOT WOOT!!!

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who saw my blog or my Facebook page advertising the Craft Sale I was in yesterday. Although it was not a highly attended craft sale (it was their first one plus it being a beautiful Spring day 'finally') I still enjoyed seeing several of you there.
Here's a different twist on the Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge...
This is the sketch we had to work with...
And instead of a card, here is one of the items I made for the craft sale yesterday AND for next Saturday's Craft Sale at the Georgetown United Methodist Church 2766 Baldwin St Jenison MI TIME: 9AM to 2PM. This craft sale is held to help raise funds for the teens summer mission trip.
Come check us out if you live in our area.
Okay, so here is my take on the sketch...
These are the Extra Large Candy Bars all wrapped pretty for MOM!!
I used the retired stamp set MESSAGES FOR MOM and the ALL DRESSED UP FRAMELITS for the pretty dresses. My friend Rachel was over for a "play day" when we came up with these. At the time I didn't realize they would fit for today's Sketch Challenge. SWEET! I love it when that happens!
Click HERE to see what the other gals came up with for this Sketch Challenge and then while you're at it, why not play along.

This second box is a Flip Top Box, and came straight from Splitcoast Stampers.
It's a little more labor intensive, but I have everything cut and scored for the ladies, and they all go home with an instruction sheet so they can make more on their own. Very cool it looks like the shape of a crayon box, but I put some chocolates in there!!Box #3 is one I have used many times over. I wanted to have one of the boxes be a masculine theme so I pulled out my THE OPEN SEA stamp set. Yeah! this one is NOT retiring - it is a perfect guy stamp.

A Fine Feather Thank You!
Thursday, April 25, 2013
My Pal, Rachel, loaned me her FINE FEATHERS stamp set so I could make these two Thank You cards. The first one is a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and the second one is a 3" x 3". This is the size card I put in every ones bag when they place an order with me. Inspiration for these two cards came from nancyferbshares.typepad.com and Alexandra Grape (Germany)
I wanted to let you know that the FINE FEATHERS stamp set is NOT retiring, and neither is the SASSY SALUTATIONS, but the FRENCH FOLIAGE stamp set IS retiring. (the script and the splash - it is one of my favorite sets - I will really miss using it for classes). One more heads up... I used the COLOR SPRITZER TOOL on the first card to give it a spray of color and this sweet tool IS BEING RETIRED. Make sure you check out the retired list, you don't want to miss out on a single thing. There are also discounts on several items (up to 60%).

Now to make this blog post just a little more fun and sweet, I am showing you a picture of my grand daughter, Gracie. When we gave Julie her birthday gift, Gracie wanted to save the wrapping paper to make something for her mom, so after school we got to work. I did the cutting and taping, but Gracie chose all the details. Isn't she precious!!
Here is a close up of the card Gracie designed. (her mommy loved it!)

I'm surrounded in CAKES!!! and loving it!
What do I like best? Making pretty specialty cakes affordable to my friends and family.
This little "dolly" is my 'Little Joey' who came to Auntie's Day Care when he was just a baby. We ended up being next door neighbors for 11 years. Whenever I would make a cake I would call Joey and he would come running. He would sit on my table and ask me all kinds of questions... "what's the blue for?", "when are you going to use the red?" etc, etc, etc. Evidently I didn't mind all the questions because I always called him when I got started.
Now Joey is 13 years old and had his confirmation at church a week ago. His mom requested this photo on his cake, one I had taken of him when he was 2 years old. He is wearing his mom's glasses and uncle Dale's necktie.
This one was for a family from church celebrating their parents 50th Anniversary. What an amazing testimony of faithful love.
This is the napkin they were using so I based the cake decorations off that.
6 year old Easton got this WWE themed birthday cake for his party. What a nice Grandma to buy his cake from me. I think this makes cake number 4 for Easton. I love repeat customers!
When Grandma came to pick it up she had a WWE wrestler figure to put on top. "He's just going to love this."
Well, that's what kept me busy the last two weeks beside cards, classes and consignment shop...WHEW (sigh)
Stay tuned... I've got more orders on the way

Anne of Green Gables
Saturday, April 20, 2013
Last night was so much fun! I went to the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and introduced Gracie to the beloved story of Anne of Green Gables. She loved it and was able to tell Julie the fun parts when she got home. Can't say that for other times when you ask her what she did at school, etc. We usually get "I don't remember", but she was all excited to share the story with mom.
I tried to take her picture sitting there but it turned out too dark with my phone and my camera battery was DEAD...grrr.
If you get a chance to go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Cookie Monster
Friday, April 19, 2013
You probably have heard me mention that each Thursday I have a "play day" with my friends. Rachel is such a blessing to me because she loves to pitch in and help me with any projects that I have going on. I could never repay her for all she has helped me with, but our chat time is priceless too. Yesterday Rachel made up these cute Cookie Monster treats for next week Saturday's (April 27th) Craft Sale.
I eat a ton of blueberries and blackberries, some raspberries too, and I had a hard time throwing out these containers so I washed them up, de-gunked them (is that a word?) from the sticky labels and put in a snack size cookie pack. Rachel assembled Cookie Monster for me so all I needed to do when she left was to attach them to the box, price them, and box them up for the craft sale.
Thanks Rachel, your friendship is priceless! You can check out Rachel's blog HERE
If you live in this area I would love to meet you at the craft sale. Be sure to mention that you look at my blog and I will have something special there for you.
Details for the craft sale are...
WHEN: Saturday, April 27th,
TIME: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
WHERE: Hudsonville High School Gym
WHY: to help the Orchestra to purchase new uniforms

Mother's Day Elegance
Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Colors: Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Flower Trim, Victoria Lace, Basic Pearls, Simply Scored with the Diagonal Plate, Distressing Tool, Butterfly Embosslit

Sisters
Monday, April 15, 2013
This past week was a special week for me as I had a chance to spend a couple days with all three of my sisters. The four of us have a lot of fun together, and this year was no exception. In the past we have taken a weekend for the four sisters and our mom to spend away. We have gone to Chicago, Wisconsin, Traverse City, and... but in recent years we have had to have our sister weekend here at home, many times due to cost, weddings, showers, etc. We enjoyed planning and cooking meals for our parents, playing games, and watching funny shows (Gomer Pyle with our dad) and a cute movie (Mouse Hunt). We can get pretty crazy when we get out together so when we stopped at a HOME GOODS store we just HAD to capture a funny picture.
Here is a closer picture of the ring. On the inside is engraved "Sisters", and right on the box insert it says "There is no better friend than a sister".

Yes, I'm the one in the bird cage (left side)
When we get together we often times purchase something alike to commemorate our time together. This year we found these Sister Rings
Oh, my, this picture really shows how old our hands are gettingHere is a closer picture of the ring. On the inside is engraved "Sisters", and right on the box insert it says "There is no better friend than a sister".
Our lives have grown and changed in so many ways, but we always know that we have each other. I was sad to say good-bye to my sis, Lynette, as she had to fly back to South Jersey, but Dale and I can look forward to a trip there in August to spend a week at there home. And guess what? she is hooking me up with a stamping class to hold in her home. Now what can I bring and what do I have to leave behind??!! Oh the possibilities!!

Yes, I know, I didn't participate in the Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge last week. Sorry about that. I just could not wrap my head around that sketch
See...it's a peek-a-boo card
Pin It Now!
But I am at it again this week and this is the sketch we had to work with this week...
And this is my take on the sketch...See...it's a peek-a-boo card
I thought I would use some retiring colors for this sketch challenge... Regal Rose and Certainly Celery. If you REALLY love these two colors you might want to order them NOW before they go on the retired list as once it hits the "list" it will be "while supplies last".
I used the Oval Framelits to cut the opening and to make the Certainly Celery "frame" around the opening.
Stamp Set used: Just Believe
I finished it off with the Flower Trim from the Spring Catalog. I LOVE these little flowers. They are soft so they don't add bulk, just dimension. You can even change their color by using markers or ink and a dauber. You can see I added a touch of Regal Rose to my Flower Trim using my marker.
Now click HERE to see what the other gals came up with for this sketch challenge and while you are at it...why not play along with us?!!!

Come Stamp With Me!
Friday, April 12, 2013
Look who came to stamp with me during Spring Break week!
My niece Kelly and her two boys, Eli and Ben and her two nephews (mine too) Jack and Miles
This is just one of the cards that two of the boys chose to make. I had a variety of colors to choose from.
Ben chose to make one in Pear Pizzazz, and I am thrilled to announce that Pear Pizzazz is RETURNING as a core color in June! When I showed Ben how to color the pearls with a Sharpie Marker he thought that was quite fun so his card had PLENTY of pearls on it. I bet his Gram thought it was the most beautiful card she ever got!
This is another one of the cards that the boys made (cased from Julie Marshall)
I loved spending time with Kelly and the boys and I loved the big group hug I got when they were all done. Kelly is a home-school mom so she never misses an opportunity to teach the boys so she brought along her stamps and her address book so once they left she brought them right to the post office to mail out their beautiful cards.
If you live in my area you can join me every Tuesday for COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAY.
My stamp room is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Cost: only $1.50 per card. Make as many or as few as you want/need. See you next Tuesday????
Thanks for stopping by!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!
Thursday, April 11, 2013
Today is our daughter, Julie's, birthday! Julie is our first born child and I have always told her that when I was a little girl all I ever wanted to be was a mommy and have a little girl of my very own. I am so grateful that we got our (only) little girl first. Julie has grown into a beautiful, strong, loving woman. She is the mommy to our two amazing grandchildren Tyler and Gracie. She juggles a part time job with a LOT of responsibilities, school activities, church activities, sporting events like karate, baseball and ballet for the kids as well as the fact that she is a green belt in karate herself, testing for her green-with-white-stripe belt already next week. We are so extremely proud of her and love her like no other.
Here she is with Tyler and Gracie last fall
And this is the card that we gave her for her birthday
Happy Birthday Julie, we love you more than words can say.
Thanks for stopping by today!
