Gobble Gobble

Monday, August 31, 2015
If you saw this laying on your crafting table what do you think you would be making?
Well, it's a cute little turkey gobbler, of course!
He would look so cute on your Thanksgiving table and he is filled with sweet treats!
The Curvy Keepsake Box was cut from Early Espresso Card Stock (I actually had a bunch of the 12x12 Co'ordinations card stock left over, that is why you might notice a bit of a textured look).  I cut 3 feathers of each color Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, and Cherry Cobbler and glued them onto a 1 3/4" circle before attaching it to the back.  For the eyes I used the Owl Builder Punch and for the gobble I used the smaller sized feather die and the Triangle Punch for his beak.  The edges of the feathers were all sponged with Early Espresso Ink.
This will be one of the items you will find at the upcoming craft sales.  Want to get in on the deals at the Craft Sales?  Here are the times and places - put them on your calendar!

Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, August 30, 2015
Today's Sentimental Sunday post is all about the grand kids.
During the summer months Tyler and Gracie spend every Monday here with us which is perfect because that is also Grampa's day off work so we can all be together.
Tyler and Gracie spent one of the Monday's, recently, washing our 15 year old beloved Susan B (our van).  She is pretty rusty and at times we wonder how long she will limp along but we plan to drive her until it is no longer possible.  Might just as well give her a bath.
We love giving the kids opportunities to learn an deb productive.
On another Monday they spent time vacuuming  and cleaning the inside.  Susan B was very thankful to feel clean and refreshed.
This past Monday I was judging 4-H still exhibits at out local fair so Gracie came with me. She is getting so grown up, it was fun having her with me.  She was very well behaved even though it was a slow day.
Tyler stayed with Grampa which worked out perfectly because of all the ink pad storage units he is building to fill orders Tyler was a big help sanding, etc.  Grampa, however, didn't get a picture of Tyler at work... bummer.
We also spent a night celebrating my parents birthday's and anniversary, and so Grampa had to get a picture with Sawyer.
We are so very thankful for all of our grandchildren.  We have no idea how many more will join our family in the future, but we will love on the ones we have and joyfully embrace any new ones the Lord sends our way.

Silly Saturday

Saturday, August 29, 2015
A few weeks back Dale participated (had a craft booth to sell his soaps and candles) in our home town Salad Bowl Bash.  Our town is affectionately called the Salad Bowl City because when the people realized the rich muck soil was so good for growing vegetables it quickly grew into vegetable farming fields.  I grew up very near a muck field and we had an onion factory in our back yard.  I remember playing there as a child, climbing the crates and playing hide 'n seek with my friends.  If kids did that now days they would get in deep trouble.  So glad I grew up in simpler times.
They had some great activities and Dale's booth was right by the grand stand where there were tons activities going on all afternoon and evening.  Since it had a Salad Bowl theme throughout the day they had one time where you could dane with the vegetables.  This sweet pea is my very own Kyra!
Kyra came to stay with Auntie when she was 11 months old and stayed until she went to Middle School.  I love still being connected to these kids.
We got photo bombed by a carrot!!
It was so cute to watch Kyra and the carrot interact with the little kids
The "fun" part is that I was sitting there so I could watch her and she pulled me up there and I danced with her - awkward! But I just love these kids!

So Sorry

Friday, August 28, 2015
My sweet friend had to say good-bye to her sweet puppy, so I wanted to send her a card to let her know how much I care.  Pinterest to the rescue
The little paw prints are from the retired stamp set D is For Dog and the words are from the retired stamp set So Sorry.  Always good to hang on to certain stamp sets for that just in case occasion.

It's Your Birthday

Thursday, August 27, 2015
Happy 29th Birthday to our youngest son, Joey!  I saw this cute pool table card on Pinterest by Susan Sieracki and knew it would be perfect for Joey because he has a pool table in the attic portion of his barn.  It is so nicely decorated (even though he chose to decorate in MSU instead of UofM).
I sponged Garden Green ink onto Garden Green Card Stock.  Punches I used are 1/2" for the pockets and rounding off the triangle (triangle is hand cut).  Owl Builder Punch for the pool balls in Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point, Real Red, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black and Daffodil Delight.  The pool stick was cut by hand and colored with Cajun Craze, Real Red stripes, and a Basic Black tip.  Pool balls and stick were covered with Crystal Effects and let dry over night.  Using the handy dandy Silicone Mat is super helpful with this step because the items do not stick to it and can easily be peeled off and attached to your card.  (Add White Gel Pen numbers before adding the Crystal Effects)

Only 4 more months until Christmas!

Tuesday, August 25, 2015
Yes, can you believe it? Only 4 more months until Christmas, and I have been working on treats for the Craft Sales.  I loved this easy little Santa treat by Sandy Maddux. (sorry I do not have a link to her blog, if she even has one)
I love how Sandy used the pop top for Santa's belt.
Here is the how-to: Card stock is 2"x5", score at 1 7/8" and 3 1/8".  Angled Tag Topper Punch on each end.  3/8"x2" for whisper white and basic black card stock.  Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for the Mustache (Framelit) and a 1/2" circle punch for Santa's nose.  This treat fits 2 Hershey Nuggets and I used sticky strip to hold it shut and glue dots to attach the mustache and nose.
Please pop in to the Hudsonville Congregational United Church of Christ on September 12th between 9am and 3pm for a craft sale where you will find a ton of fun goodies.  (4950 32nd Ave, Hudsonville, MI)

Paper Molding

Monday, August 24, 2015
I always have my eye out for new tips and techniques.  I thought this one by Deb Valder was cute, giving a little extra dimension to the center of your flower.  I also used the Water coloring with Glycerin technique to color my flowers and leaves in.

Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, August 23, 2015
Last night we celebrated these two sweethearts
My Daddy's 89th birthday, my Mom's 87th birthday AND their 69th Wedding Anniversary!  What a great heritage of love, and commitment.
Look who all was able to come out to wish them all the happiness in the world...
Three of the four sisters could be there (the fourth one arrives later tonight)
Julie, Tyler and Gracie
Jeff, Jess and Sawyer
Sawyer is loving some Grandma Great kisses
Sawyer was so happy! loving making noise with the spoon and pointing at all the lights and fans (one of his newest favorite things to do)
Tyler and Gracie sure do love their little cousin
Sawyer is the youngest great-grandchild to my parents and Scott is the oldest grand-child.  There are 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren!
Here are 2 more of the great grandkids Brady and Kyra (grandchildren to my oldest sister, Judy)
They all are growing up so fast.  The rest of the families are scattered throughout several states.  I can't even remember when everyone was all together - I guess that is just how it goes with a growing family.
This is the gift card holder I gave them...
Yes, we ate at the Pizza Ranch! A favorite local spot
This is my mom's baby brother who carried a calla lily at their wedding and tucked inside that calla lily was my mom's wedding rings.  I thought that was so special.

Sweet Saturday

Saturday, August 22, 2015
This was a first for me, but it was fun - especially since I was able to tag-team with my cousin, Dawn.  We were asked to hold a cake decorating "class" for a bridal shower.  So happy to be a part of these special days. This is the Nikki, the bride, and she did a fabulous job on her cake.
Some were a bit apprehensive with their decorating skills, while others took the bull by the horn with confidence.  They ALL did a great job.
Dawn showed them how to make frosting flowers and some even ventured to try that too.  She made several ahead of time for the gals to use on their cakes so all they had to do was add some leaves.

Pre-pay Thank You's

Friday, August 21, 2015
When my clients/friends/customers pre-pay for a class I like to have a special treat ready of them as a thank you.
I was making some 3x3 notes using up some retired Specialty Paper (called Under The Tree) to have on hand for purchase thank you's,  I also made some Post-it Note holders using the same Specialty Paper.  This paper is super duper thick and worked perfectly for this project.

but when I ran into a brain block on what to gift the gals for pre-paying for the Projects Class this past Tuesday, my friend, Donne, had her brand new PILLOW BOX THINLITS DIE here to show me so we put our heads together and made cute Pillow Boxes to fit some 3x3 notes in.
So what do you think?  You will love this new PILLOW BOX THINLITS DIE and you can start ordering from the Holiday Catalog on September 1st and get your own.  I know you will be seeing many ideas using this Die on Pinterest and other blogs that you will be excited to have your own.
Thanks for stopping by! and if you are interested in any of the classes I hold here in my home please check out the side bar of this blog post for the September Up-Coming Classes.  We would love to have you join us.
