Cakes and Cards

Sunday, December 26, 2010
This month I was hired to make 4 birthday cakes - thing is...they all fell in the same week! It's either "feast or famine" - but it was fun making the different cakes for the kids.

Cake Number 1 was for Dean, Glenda's son who turned 11 years old. Dean wanted a guitar cake.

And this is the card I gave him

Cake Number 2 was for my (former day care) Kelly who turned 14. OOPS! forgot to get a picture of the cake before they picked it up - and they forgot to get a picture of Kelly with it. It was just a basic 9x13 with roses and words - a very last minute cake.

Cake Number 3 was for Kaela who turned 9 years old. She wanted a Gymnastics/Olympic theme.

For this one I made a card to match too...

Cake Number 4 was for a neighbor (thanks to my daughter for spreading my name around and getting me the business) - Not sure how old Elly turned, but she wanted a Raggedy Ann cake.

I made a card to match, but - here I go again - I forgot to take a picture of it.

So For Now...

Happy Stamping!!

Sunday Share

Sunday, December 19, 2010
Last night we had a concert at our church with guest artist Michael Card. What a wonderful time of worship and praise to our Savior. What a wonderful evening celebrating the love of our God that He would give us His one and only Son in such a humble way to redeem the world. Praying that your focus this Christmas season is on the Christ Child and the Gift He was for all mankind.

With the Christmas season here I wanted to share this
BEAUTIFUL SONG sung by Michael Card.

I have many favorites, but this one is like number 2 on my favorite Christmas songs.

Stay tuned to Christmas morning to hear my number 1 favorite Christmas song.

I had a special treat - besides seeing Michael Card, that is... my very Special and Dear Friend, Becky and her husband came up from Fort Wayne, Indiana to come to the concert with us. Becky and I have been Pen Pals since I was 12 and she was 11 - so you do the math: (we have been Pen Pals for 41 years.
)

And this is the beautiful purse/bag that she made for me for me!! She is a very gifted seamstress and I have been the recipient of many of her beautiful creations. Added as a bonus inside the purse was a 21 day devotional that I am excited about diving into.

Thank you, Becky, for a most memorable evening! I love you!!

This one was used for our Stamp A Stack this month as well.

Make Over's

Monday, December 13, 2010
Now that the craft sale season is over it is time to evaluate what sold and what did not sell, what we can do better or just different for next years sales. You may remember the Monkey Juice from a previous blog There were a few of these left after the craft sale so I decided to let the kids drink the juice and I just didn't have the heart to throw out all those cute monkey faces so I turned them into a scrapbook page
Another item I made for craft sales were these 3x3 note cards with a coordinating tote all with a cute bee theme. Well, for whatever reason, these did not sell either so earlier I revamped them - sold the tote seperately with some Bit O Honey (one of my favorites!!) candy

then I attached the 3x3 cards to a bear shaped honey container - and guess what? they ALL SOLD!! guess it is all in the packaging!!

Coloring with Bleach

Saturday, December 11, 2010

This Technique was fun and it is so very versatile. The ladies were saying how cute it would look and what they could do with different colored card stock. I so enjoy my techniques class with these ladies. This is the card we made...

We embossed our rose image from Fifth Avenue Floral by using Versa Mark ink and black Embossing Powder then we filled up an aqua painter with liquid bleach and wherever we wanted our rose to be bleached out is where we would apply the bleach. Then by adding 2 Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds it really makes it sparkle. One thing we did learn is that you don't leave bleach in the aqua painter because bleach will loose it's potency, and not react they way you want it to.
MENU:
CS: Naturals Ivory, Basic Black, Marina Mist
Accessories: Chantilly Lace, Antiques Brads, Top Note Die, Big Shot
Thanks to: France Martin

Here is another card I made using the same technique:Don't you just love these cute little snowmen!!

SS: Holiday Lineup, Many Merry Messages, Serene Snowflakes
CS: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, WW
INK: Versa Mark, Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, WW Craft Ink, Baja Breeze

Top Note Die, Big Shot, Snowflake Punch, Baja Breeze Corduroy Brad (retired)
