Trying to use up your odds and ends is kind of like painting a room in your house.
My hubby laughs when I ask him to paint "just one room" because one wall leads to another, and by the time we are done we have painted every room.
That's what happened one day when I was working to use up pieces on my work station.
I am not sure why I had all these Pool Party scalloped circles sitting there along with some stitched circles from the STYLISH SHAPES DIES (item #159183). But this was the day to clear things out.
The first task was to find some designer paper with Pool Party in it. I ended up finding some retired designer paper from a previous Sale a bration pack FRIENDLY HELLO.
Then it was just a matter of layering and placing. I actually had a circle frame sitting with my leftovers, and if I didn't have that, I bet I never would have thought to make the layout like this.
My little foxes were hand cut out from the STORYBOOK GNOMES Designer Paper and I had one little fox sitting on my desk. I thought it was fitting to add this sweet baby fox in the circle frame.
I had enough scallop circles to make 4 baby cards, but I did need to cut out a few more stitched circles and circle frames, (and 3 more fox). My sentiment comes from LITTLE ELEPHANT (*retired).
Making these cards I ended up with some more leftover Designer Paper (even after decorating my envelope flap with it.
Card #2 - I used the TAILOR MADE TAGS DIES (item #155563) for the little tags that have "HELLO" & "friend" stamped on them from the BIGGEST WISH Stamp Set (item #155052)
This card was inspired by Su Mohr
What I changed up: Another previous Sale a bration item to the rescue, the 6x6 Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Paper. The original card used the Pool Party pattern from Friendly Hello Designer Paper Pack, but I was all out. (it must have been my favorite) so I had to search for another Pool Party pattern that I could use. I'm pretty happy with my find.
I cut a piece of Basic White at 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and a piece of the striped paper at 5-1/2" x 3". Adhered them together and then cut out the largest stitched rectangle from the STITCHED RECTANGLE DIES. Because there are two layers you may need to run it through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine twice or even add a shim.
I used up the last of my *retired Dotted Organza Ribbon on this card too. I guess I'm on a roll using up my odds 'n ends.
When looking for more of the paper for my envelope flaps I ended up with more leftovers!
For card #3 I had saved an idea from Judy to create this card
Of course I made some changes: Judy's cards were note card size, but I know my stampers want full size cards.
I really do not like flat fronts so I embossed the front of my Thick Basic White base with the TIMEWORN TYPE Embossing Folder (item #156505) after I stamped the sentiment with Granny Apple Green Ink. My designer paper banners are 1-1/2" and 1-1/4" wide.
I also added a Square Vellum Doily (*retired), and a Stitched Circle from STYLISH SHAPES (2nd largest circle).
The little birds are from FRIENDLY HELLO (a free sale a bration item from a previous time). I stamped them with Basic Gray Ink and cut them out by using my Brother Scan 'n Cut machine. I like doing things ahead for my stampers. Judy did not color in her bird and flowers but I just couldn't leave them blank. I used my Stampin' Blends in Pool Party combo, Crumb Cake light, Fresh Freesia combo, and Granny Apple Green light (only on the leaf veins).
First I glued down my bird but I just didn't like it so I colored a second one and popped that one up right on top. NOW I'm happy with it. I added some HEART PEARLS (item #159190). These beautiful pearls come in Milky White, Glossy White and Pearl White so I used one of each variety in the two different sizes to give it the final finished look. The circle is popped up with dimensionals before adding it to the Square Vellum .Doily and then attached to the card with liquid glue.
Whew! All this because I had some leftover scalloped circles on my work station!
