Christi's Creative Crew: Team Make & Take

At our team meetings we always end the night with a Make & Take. Sometimes the gals on my team will take a turn, but this month I took my turn.

I pulled out an old idea that I had from Patty Bennett called a Double Pocket Card

I have been making these to gift my team with their monthly top sales rewards so I thought that I would share with them how simple they are to make.

This first one you can see that I cut the designer paper in the wrong direction

This time I did it right.

Here is another example of using a designer paper that has a definite direction to the pattern

However when you open it up the direction will be upside down

One more fun example using the Snailed It Designer Paper. I guess I would suggest using a non-directionally challenged print!

Patty suggested using a stapler to hold the band, but I decided to use the stapler under the band and you want to be sure to hide the folded-over side of the staple.

This double pocket card is cut from a 12x12 piece of designer paper - cut down to 8-1/2 x 11

Score the 8-1/2 inch side at 4-1/4 and score the 11-inch side at 5-1/2"

The tricky part now is to use your diagonal score plate if you have one, and score on the 8-1/2" side at 4-1/2, turn 180º and score again at 4-1/2. If you do not have a diagonal score plate you can measure and fold like this: Make a little mark with a pencil at 4-1/2" on the 8-1/2" side, and a little pencil mark at 4" down on the 11" side. Repeat this for both sides and then using your trimmer and the score blade score on a diagonal.

When I cut my designer paper I cut the 8-1/2" first which causes me to have a 3-1/2" x 12" strip left over. I thought that there would be great opportunities to use those pieces for other cards.

These are the cards that I came up with using some of the papers that I had left over from prepping the double pocket cards for the team

This one I was able to case from Amy Koenders I changed up the card by adding an extra layer and after I stamped the "Happy Birthday" with the PEACEFUL MOMENTS Stamp Set, I embossed it with the Subtle Embossing Folder (retired). The Poppy Dies are so gorgeous and I haven't played with them for a while so it was fun to pull them out again. So pretty in Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.

On these next cards I used the Ornate Layers Dies and cut the large white layer and embossed that piece with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. I cut another Ornate Layer from the designer paper.

The piece of cardstock (pear pizzazz on this card) that holds the sentiment is 3/4" wide and heat embossed with the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, then added the second words with Pear Pizzazz ink.

Can you see that I layered that on top of a Stitched Rectangle Die? I tucked the rectangle under the designer paper and then put the sentiment on top. This layout was inspired by Karen.

The beautiful butterflies come from the BUTTERFLY BRILLIANCE stamp set and dies.

I couldn't decide which color cardstock to make my card with so I made one with Pear Pizzazz and one with Poppy Parade. Which one do you like best?

Remember I cut one of my double pocket cards the wrong direction? Well, I just used that piece to cover the envelope flaps for my card.

This piece of Designer paper was left over from one of the pocket cards one of the gals made. Instead of making two cards with the left over piece I decided to make a slim line card. I was inspired by the little girls from the HEY GIRLFRIEND stamp set that I had piled up in my stash. Since I have 3 sisters I thought that this would be a fun card to send to them. In fact, it is my sister, Vicky's 70th birthday today! I used the "you are loved" from a previous Paper Pumpkin Kit. The little girls were glued down, but the words are popped up on Dimensionals. I think this is my favorite!

This patterned paper is another piece left over from one of my teams Make & Take project.

I've been wanting to try this milk carton tutorial from Sam Donald for a while now so I thought this would be a good chance while using up some of these scraps.

Quite easy and fun to make - I think I will be using this as my 3D project for a future card club class.

This truly is the BEST Dollar store around! It's big, and has so many great finds. You will see more on my great finds later this year when I share some other goodies I purchased for our team weekend getaway.

Growing up in the same town all my life I have watched this store be our 5&10 store, then it transformed into a department store and sold some sweet clothing for kids and adults, among other great household finds. When the dollar store craze came in and the locals were going to all the new malls for their clothing, they turned it into this fabulous dollar store! My downfall is that they have GREAT after-season candy deals. I could easy buy it all and binge!
