September Cakes

Friday, September 30, 2011
Just two cake orders for September, so I thought I would share them with you.

This first one I made for my niece's friend.
I guess this character is called the Crib Keeper.
It is some sort of club she is in and Russia is the gals a.k.a. name

These cute cupcakes were for a girl at church who wanted to have her party theme revolve around the puppies and kitties that they rescue, and the guests were to donate money to the shelter in leu of giving her a gift.
Now that is very thoughtful for a 10 year old.

Have a Sweet Day!!

INSIDE

Any time I get started on a Sketch Challenge I usually rely on my inspiration
from whatever stamp set is laying on my table at the time.
Zoo Review was sitting out because we made this card
at Septembers Stamp A Stack Class.

Wedding Treat

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

We have a sweet couple getting married at church and I recently found out that their colors were Red, Black, White, and a touch of Eggplant Purple. They have asked different ones from their guest list to host one of the tables which means we will supply the place settings for that table. What a creative way to decorate and save money as well. I'm sure everyone will use their best China dishes and they will not have to rent the dinnerware. Clever! anyway... I had some wedding favors on hand for the craft sales just for ideas...get this...in Black, Red and White. I thought it would be fun to gift them with a little treat as they are awaiting the big day.
This will be the first one that I will give them on Sunday.

I had the Petal Cone Treat made up so I just needed to make a
matching 3x3 note.

Here's a close up of the flower on the note. I thought the little poinsettia
center was great for a December wedding.

Three More Months Until Christmas!!

Monday, September 26, 2011
Only THREE more months until Christmas!!
We have made it through the hot summer months and now into my favorite season of all:
FALL!!
So now we are winding down the time until Christmas,
BUT: the craft sales are starting and the shoppers like to have Christmas items
and stocking stuffers on hand.
This cute little Santa holds a chocolate mint candy and
would be so cute sitting at each place setting for the holidays.

You can see how I made his shiny beard with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder
This Idea came from Brenda Quintana at Stampin' Connection.
Thanks Brenda for sharing your great ideas.

Sue and I had a very successful start to our Craft Sale Season on Saturday.
Thank you to all who stopped in to see us, and even make a purchase or two.

Have a Blessed Day!!

Red Hot Sketch Challenge #3 plus Faux Mother of Pearl Technique

Sunday, September 25, 2011
Time to play with the Red Hot Stampers again
with Sketch Challenge #3

Last week was our techniques class and I had planned to make this card

using the technique called FAUX MOTHER OF PEARL.
Check out a close up of the butterfly.

so when I was making the pretty butterfly I thought
why not use it for this weeks sketch challenge.

I also was able to use my new Hounds Tooth Embossing Folder

You can't see all the sparkles but I spritzed the front with
Champagne Shimmer Mist
It goes perfectly with the White Shimmer Paper that the butterfly is made with.

I shamelessly copied this technique from France Martin's blog.
Click HERE if you want to see a quick video on how to do
the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique

Here are some more cards I made using this technique, all but one, of course,
copied from France's blog. Guess you have figured out by now
I get a lot of inspirations from her. I was thrilled to meet her at Convention
this year and get to know her as she was one of my room mates.

This last one only the flowers have the Faux Mother of Pearl Technique on them,
and the background stamp was stamped using the
Frost White Shimmer Paint.

Saw this idea at Convention - someone made these for their Swap

Stampin' Queen Sketch Challenge #5

Friday, September 23, 2011
Time to play with the Stampin' Queens again.

Here is the Sketch Challenge...

I borrowed my friend, Sue's, stamp set called Christmas Lodge for next months
Stamp A Stack class and thought I would take advantage of having this new
stamp set on hand.
You can purchase this stamp set from the Holiday Mini by clicking HERE
to place and order or you can contact me directly.

This is my take on this weeks Stampin' Queen Sketch Challenge...

Take a closer look... I used a product called Liquid Applique for the snow on the Lodge.
Stampin' Up! used to sell this product, but for now is discontinued.
Kind of hope they bring it back some day.

Colors I used are:
Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler

September Stamp A Stack Part 1

Thursday, September 22, 2011
This month my Stamp A Stack Classes got stretched out more than usual due to me changing the Thursday class date so I could go see Ballet Magnificat at our church.
By the way - it was magnificent!!
They performed "The Hiding Place" the story of Corey ten Boom.
I was privileged to help out at their product table and met many wonderful fans of the Ballet. One lady came up and introduced herself and told us that she had lived with Corey ten Boom in one of the concentration camps all those many years ago.
This lady also spoke at our church a couple years ago giving her testimony of God's faithfulness through trial. But to have her speak to us at the table with her copy of
Corey's book in her hand really struck a tender cord in my heart.
You can tell she keeps it with her all the time as the cover and pages were very "well loved."

Well, on to a couple cards that we made this month...

Bubble Background Technique

Wednesday, September 21, 2011
At last nights Technique Class we made this card using the
BUBBLE BACKGROUND TECHNIQUE.
What a fun and simple card to make, but using this technique
makes it look amazing. Who would think it could be this easy?

All you need is some bubble mixture like your kids use for blowing bubbles outside in the summer, some Classic Ink Refills, and a straw. This will work best with a dark color.

In a small bowl pour some bubble mixture, add 6-8 drops of Classic Ink Refill,
stir, and then using a straw, blow until bubbles rise about the rim of the bowl.
Place your Shimmer White Card Stock over the bubbles,
then repeat until you have the entire front of your card covered the way you want it.

I tried it with other colors to see which I liked best

Elegant Eggplant

Cherry Cobbler

But Night of Navy still won out for me.
I think I would like to try Chocolate Chip some day soon to see how it
looks with Naturals Ivory Card Stock

Once again credit goes to France Martin for her great ideas and video tutorials.
Click HERE if you want to see how she did this technique.

Red Hot Sketch Challenge #2

Sunday, September 18, 2011
Another Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge.

I am really getting into these sketch challenges - it stretches me
and I don't end up copying everything - although there are
wonderful ideas out there, it is nice to come up with some on my own.

I just LOVE being a RED HOT STAMPER!!

Sorry it is so blurry - couldn't figure out how to enlarge the image,
but you get the idea of the sketch

Here is my take on it...

I couldn't decide what stamp set to use for this challenge so I started with the first
stamp set on my shelf. Maybe I will make my challenges alphabetical (hehe)

MENU:
SS: Awash With Flowers, Bring On The Cake (inside)
CS: Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, WW
INK: Stazon Black, Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive

Stampin' Queen Sketch Challenge #4

Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge Week #4

This has really been quite fun for me.
I was working on a technique for my Techie Class next week Tuesday using
Bleach and Pastels and the stamp set Autumn Splendor so I thought
I would incorporate that same technique into my Sketch Challenge card.

It's hard to see but I used Crystal Effects on the acorns to make
them stand out a bit.
Gives them almost a 3D look. Sorry it doesn't show up better on my photo.
The Thanksgiving Greeting is from the set called Day of Gratitude.

Want to join us for the Techniques Class?
Sign up now by responding to this blog post
or email me at christijo48@sbcglobal.net
You have until Monday night (Sept. 19th - 7PM) to sign up.
Class is held Tuesday, September 20, 7 PM
We will make three different techniques that night
and you will learn how to do the technique you see here.
Remember, as always, bring your own adhesive.
Cost for the class is $12.00

Beautiful Butterfly Wings

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

At the August Techniques Class we made these cute little
Post-It Note Butterflies.
The idea was snagged by Becky Roberts who made a bunch of
these up for Convention in July.
I guess this is not so much a "Technique" as it is a "Big Shot Project"
so starting in October (on the 3rd) I am starting a Big Shot Projects Class.

All my classes are listed on the right side bar of my blog so
feel free to check it out anytime
And PLEASE sign on up for one or more of the classes offered.

Do you already own a Big Shot and just not sure how to use all the
Dies and other Big Shot Accessories?

This is the perfect class for you!
We will make 4 projects using the Big Shot.
The cost of this class is $20.00.

Don't have a Big Shot, but REALLY, REALLY want one?
I will work out a payment plan for you or we can talk about some other
easy ways you could earn one for 50% off or even FREE.

Have a Blessed Day!!
