Happy Birthday Katie

This is a birthday cake I made for a gal at church who just celebrated her 40th birthday!  Happy Birthday Katie!! Katie calls herself "quirky", but I call her FUN!  I was thrilled to be asked to make the cake for her special celebration

And what am I doing today?  Dodging the crowds and shopping the Black Friday Specials??  OH NO!! not me!! I am home baking for yet another cake order.  This time it is for a wedding so stay tuned.  I will have my helpers: Tyler and Gracie and even Grampa home to 'help' too, although their plans are to make a gingerbread house and gingerbread men cookies.  Whew!! sounds like we will spend our day in the kitchen today!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday - I know we sure did!!

Not Your Typical Thanksgiving Card

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!  I am thankful for so very much and I am especially thankful for the ladies who are in my down line making my business in Stampin' Up! a wonderful success!  This is one of the cards that I mailed out to my girls (inspired by Brian King)

This says exactly how I feel about each of them.  They really mean the world to me!  Thank you ladies! - and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Craft Sale

Today Sue and I are at our final Craft Sale for 2013.  I love this one because it is held so close to home and at the High School that we both attended as well as all our kids.  In fact, Dale's dad was on the High Schools first football team and later served on the school board as the Secretary.  I love being so connected all these years. 

These fun little Grinch treats will be on sale (plus so much more) so I hope you will pop in to see us

This craft sale is held on the same day as the Hudsonville Christmas Parade so you can come to see the parade (which starts at 10am) and then come check out the craft sale.  Our booth is in the Cafeteria and if you mention that you saw this blog post (or my post on Face Book) I will have a special gift for you.

Another Cake

This cake was made for a VERY SPECIAL man in our church who is celebrating his 80th birthday.  Since I grew up in this church, this man was a huge foundation in my upbringing.  He is very dear to my heart so I was honored when his family asked me to make the cake for his celebration.  Perk is an avid fisherman so they suggested a fishing theme for his cake.

Not only did they ask me to make the cake but his grand daughter (my hairdresser) asked if I could make him a special card for her to give him.  YOU BET!!  Another one of the things that I remember and appreciate about Perk is that he has a workroom where he would help all the boys (who needed help) to cut out their Pinewood Derby Cars.  He has the most giving heart, and has blessed more lives than will ever be counted.  A TRUE man of God.

Remembering Christmas

My Daddy got a deer!!  Maybe I should send him this card for Christmas!!
So proud of him to still be able to get out and hunt at 87 years old, a bum knee and ruptured Achilles tendon! Now THAT is a true outdoorsman!

Pastors Orientation

The church where my Aunt and Cousin attend had an ordination service for their Assistant Pastor yesterday.  I was honored to be asked to make the cakes for the celebration.

 Look at all those little chocolate crosses!  Each one is adorned with a flower and leaf.

This last one was a German Chocolate for Pastor Will to take home with him.

Not only did they ask me to make his cakes but they wanted to give him a special card.  One for my Aunt to give and one for my cousin to give...

Stamp Set: Harvest Blessings, and the grasses are from a retired stamp I think, I can't remember.  A little water coloring and this was a quick and easy card.

Gently Falling

 A few weeks ago we had our pictures taken with our grand kids in the beautiful Spring Grove Park.  This is the park that I have taken many photos of my day care kids - especially in the fall when the leaves are beautiful and abundant.  We started this tradition when Tyler was 18 months old so each year we can see how everyone has changed in the past year.  So here are two cards that I made using the Birch paper that comes in the THANKFUL TABLESCAPE SIMPLY CREATED KIT #133463 $19.95 found on page 18 of the Holiday Catalog.

And here are a few pictures of that were taken that day!
