Go Tigers

Monday, August 29, 2016
These two fun cards were a special order.  I was told that the dad and son were Detroit Tiger fans so could I please make something with that theme.  Ummm...you bet!! I had to search the internet and grab some images from the Web.
This card, at first, seemed pretty 'flat' and I love dimension to my cards so I printed out several copies and did some fussy cutting.  I popped up the Tigers head with two extra layers and his paws with one extra layer.  It made it look like the tiger was jumping out of the card.  I used Tangerine Tango and Night of Navy for the Detroit color scheme.
This card was for the little boy so I thought it required a more animated version of a Detroit Tiger.  I embossed the card base with the DECORATIVE DOT EMBOSSING FOLDER and fussy cut the little Tiger image and popped it up with DIMENSIONALS.  The baseball comes from the GREAT SPORT (retired) stamp set, cut out and popped up.
Inside this card I added this sentiment that I made using My Digital Studio program
I am thankful that she liked the final product.  I must say she gives me a bit of a challenge from time to time, but it is good to help me to stretch.
Right now the Detroit Tigers are in 2nd place and only 4 1/2 games behind first.  Our family is Detroit Tiger fans so it was fun for me to make these cards.

Say, What???

Saturday, August 27, 2016
Today is a milestone birthday for our youngest son, Joey!
I can't believe we are past this mile-marker with our children.  Now I know how my mom felt when I (her youngest) turned a milestone number.  I imagine she will say the same thing next year when I turn 60.  Yikes! did I really say that?
Joey had the sweetest curls.  The ladies in the grocery store would comment on what a cute little girl I had so I had to have them cut off at about 18 months.  That was a sad day!
As I reminisce over Joey's life I just smile because being a mom to our 3 amazing children has been my best "job" EVER!!  I was called to be a mom and I loved every minute of it - even the teen years!
Joey's first years were a little rough, being hospitalized several times with asthma related issues, which meant treatments and medicine and lots and lots of doctor visits.  Once he hit 2 years old it was like he never had a problem, but because of these health issues he and I bonded like I never had with Julie and Jeff.  Joey was my cuddler.  If I was sitting, he would land in my lap.  MANY nights he and I would need to sleep on the couch so I could keep him is a reclined position so he could breath.  You can see how this would bind us together. Every day he left for school I got a kiss good-bye, right through his senior year and he is the quickest one to say "I love you."
Here he is at 4 years old.  He sure was a good one for letting me take his pictures
Joey was such a fun boy (but all my kids had their extremely fun ways), He tried just a couple sports, but he really favored baseball which he excelled at all through high school.  In fact, Joey, broke a school record that hadn't been broken since 1968.  It was for the most sacrifice bunts.  What a bummer that 2 years later the coaches son broke Joey's record.
More pictures to reminisce by:  Our kids always teased me that I always took their pictures by trees.
When Joey was just a little guy he found out that a baby kangaroo was called a Joey.  Ever since then he has had a driving desire to go to Australia.  Dale and I were hoping that we would be the ones to go with him, but...looks like his sweet Melissa will be the one to join him now.  Yes, a trip there is in the works (he is a great planner).  That is why I made this card for Joey for his birthday.

Yes, I put my trusty My Digital Studio to work to help me create this card for him.  We enjoyed a lovely dinner out with Joey and Melissa last night to celebrate his birthday.  I pray that you all have great moments with your children and that each memory is as precious to you as mine are to me.

Let's Play Ball!

Friday, August 26, 2016
Special Order Card for a little guy who loves to play with any type of sport ball.
I used the retired stamp set GREAT SPORT.  I stamped each image on Whisper White, punched them out and then adhered them to a piece of Whisper White Card Stock that measures 3 3/4 x 5.  Then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder for some texture.
I also used the LARGE NUMBERS Framelits and the DUET BANNER PUNCH.
Check out all the supplies here:

Baby Dedication

Thursday, August 25, 2016
Another Special Order Card.
I used a lot of retired products to create this precious baby dedication card.  The little tag is attached with an itty bitty safety pin.  I did not have a teeny stamp that said "dedication" so I printed it from my computer and punched it out with the tiny tag punch.
Why am I showing you this card when it is made from all retired product?  BECAUSE I want to show you things you can do with all the stamps and product that you, too, have accumulated over the years.  Just because I only use Current Stampin' Up! product in my classes doesn't mean you have to stop using the wonderful things that you have purchased!  It is also an encouragement to you to get those punches and embossing folders while they are still current.  You don't want to wait to rely on the CLEARANCE RACK hoping that you will find what you missed out on.
Right now the CLEARANCE RACK is pretty low, but you can check it out HERE
For this card I used:

I also used:
Special Blessings Stamp Set
Tiny Tag Punch
Now it is your turn to take out some of your loved but rarely used produc and make something beautiful. And I would love to have you share it with me.  Click HERE

This Christmas card was made using a previous Paper Pumpkin Kit - May 2016 (my favorite one to date).  Elegant with the Silver Embossing and the Dazzling Details Glimmer Paper!!
I love the Cups and Kettles framelits.  Wish they had carried over to the annual catalog, but that is the beauty of the Tuesday class - I can use up my retired product and supplies.
Card inspired by Zoe Tant
This one, too, was a favorite called BEAUTIFUL RIDE.  Love that little Love Bug!!  I teamed it up with GORGEOUS GRUNGE and TIMELESS TEXTURES.  The Happy Birthday comes from GUY GREETINGS.

Here are a few of the cards that we made with this months Paper Pumpkin Kit
Patty made several cards as instructed in the kit but these first three are ones she also made.

I pulled out my list of who I needed to send cards to so I chose to use the STYLIZED BIRTHDAY single stamp set for several of my cards

I made up the gift card holder as instructed, and then I wrote the recipe for my gluten free banana bread on the little lined card.  Now this yummy bread is ready to give away as a gift.
Want the recipe??  Here you go...

Banana Bread
MIX DRY INGREDIENTS:
1 . C flour 1 . C Sugar
1 tsp baking soda . tsp salt
In a separate bowl…Combine…
2 eggs 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
. C oil 1/4C plus 1 T buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
Add to flour mixture, stirring just until combined.
Pour into a greased loaf pan (use waxed paper on the bottom)
BAKE 325º for 1 hour and 10 min (depending on your oven it may take a little longer)
Cool & serve
DO NOT DOUBLE THE RECIPE
3 small tins took 1 hour, 17 muffins took 20+ min
Convection oven: 40 min (in the smaller pans)

To make this a Gluten Free Banana Bread I just substitute Gluten Free Flour - but here is the kicker: you need to sift your Gluten Free Flour before you begin.  I put mine in the Vita-Mix and puree it up for several minutes.  This helps to break down the GF flour and now this Banana Bread is sooooo very moist.  Not like your typical GF products.  It is the only way to go!!

Thoughtful Leaves

Friday, August 19, 2016
This card was also made using the THOUGHTFUL BRANCHES Stamp Set.  I cased the card from the acting CEO of Stampin' Up!, Sara Douglas, from her live Facebook event.
Isn't this beautiful!
The top layer is watercolor paper.  Simply tape off 3 sides using washi tape (painters tape would work as well) then using your AQUAPAINTER add color.  I used CALYPSO CORAL, DAFFODIL DELIGHT and PEAR PIZZAZZ ink refills.  I did the first layer light, dried it with my HEAT TOOL and the did a second layer making it darker.
I did the same thing on scrap watercolor paper and stamped the leaves from the THOUGHTFUL BRANCHES stamp set using VERSA MARK and CLEAR EMBOSSING POWDER.  Then using a SPONGE DAUBER I rubbed EARLY ESPRESSO INK over it (this is the emboss resist technique) and cut out with the coordinating framelit.  The splatters are made with your CALYPSO CORAL MARKER and flicking it with the cap.  A little LINEN THREAD around the bottom gives it an earthy feel for fall.
Here are the products that I used so that you can click on any image and it will take you to where you can place your order.  BECAUSE... there are only a couple days left to get in on the drawing for the FREE STYLIZED BIRTHDAY Stamp Set.

Sheltering Tree Thank You

Wednesday, August 17, 2016
Another special order card!  You would think that with all the stamps that I have accumulated over the past eight plus years that I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator I would have exactly what I need when someone asks for a special card. Every bicycle stamp I have was either too small or a tandem bike. What to do?  Well, pull out My Digital Studio, of course.  Sure do wish Stampin' Up! still had My Digital Studio available so I could add more stamps, paper and colors, but I am thankful for the stamps that I purchased before it was discontinued. This particular bicycle stamp is called Pedaling Past.  I did a mirror image so the bike could be facing the way I wanted it, then resized it to my needs, printed it out, cut it out and voila`, I had exactly what I needed.  I printed out the Thank You as well, then added my SHELTERING TREE, sponged the sky, and added the cute fence (non Stampin' Up!) and some yummy apples using the TREE BUILDER PUNCH
And guess what?  She liked it!! So glad when it all comes together.

Well, That Just Stinks!!

Tuesday, August 16, 2016
My friend Carla broke her wrist last week so yesterday I went there to spend some time with her and to bring some supper in.  Carla normally works a full time job, and she is glad for some time off, but with a broken wrist she can't do a lot. So we dug right in and I helped her to clear out one of the bedrooms in their house.  I'm sure she put more stuff in the garage sale than she ever expected, but she is also glad to declutter.
This is the card that I made for her to brighten her day...
One of the cutest things that Stampin' Up! came out with in the newest Annual Catalog is the FOXY FRIENDS Stamp Set and the FOX BUILDER PUNCH.  With this set and punch you can make a HUGE variety of critters including this darling skunk.  The stamp set HERE FOR YOU coordinates perfectly with this card.
I CASED this card from Pinterest and Kathy McDowell.  I changed up my skunk by adding the tail part for the chest fur and the wisp of fur for the head.
Such a cute card!! Here are all the supplies that I used on this card...

Craft Room Tour

Monday, August 15, 2016
I am keeping busy, but lately it seems like I have had so many special orders that I cannot share with you yet so I thought that I would share some photos of my new craft room.  My new craft room is 5 feet longer but 3 feet narrower than I had at the condo.  Three of the four walls have a ledge so it limits bookcase type storage.
This is where the ladies sit to make their cards.  I have 4- 6 foot tables together which seems to work perfectly.  You can see I am all set up for one of my COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAY CLASSES.  The walls are painted REVERE PEWTER but I think it looks a lot like Sahara Sand.
This room has three of these day light windows and 14 canned lights.  The builder was shocked when I told him I needed 14 lights in there but I want it nice and bright for the ladies so they can see well when they stamp.
We chose to carry the same flooring downstairs that we chose for the main level.
I'm so thankful that I was able to take my IKEA cabinets with me because they store my punches and steel ruled dies perfectly. The smaller rack on the left is a nail polish holder that I got from AMAZON and it fits my reinkers perfectly!
This book case is the perfect depth for the clear box stamps. We got this bookcase from church after the pastors wanted to update their space and remove several bookcases.   This is my retired stamp stash.  I added some hooks on the wall for customer orders
These are the two bookcases that I took with and was able to put them side by side which makes it look really nice and organized.  You can see more hooks on the wall for other items I like to keep handy.  I use a paper storage file on the wall for my current 12x12 Designer Paper.  I have another one that is attached to the side of my book case that you cannot see and I use that one for business paper. (orders and receipts etc)
The workstation that Dale made for me is still so perfect for stamping.  Even Gracie's artwork survived the move. I decided to have the lower IKEA cabinets go behind my work station instead of under the ones I showed you earlier. I thought that I would be hurting for space because I had to leave behind the giant storage drawers that Dale built for me, but they were bolted right down to the cement.  I keep my 8 1/2 x 11 card stock in the lateral file shown on the left with a normal size file next to it with my printer.  The smaller file holds my retired In-Color card stock.
I thought about cleaning off my work station for the photo, but that wouldn't be real life.  A messy work station means I am working hard for you, preparing classes and other great projects.
This is the lower half of the IKEA cabinets.  At the condo I had them directly under the ones that hold my punches, but I love having them separated giving me space for cutting, etc. My current stamps fit nicely on the ledge as well as my ink storage that Dale made for me.
The ribbon holders are also from IKEA.  I have 3 bars instead of 4 now, but I didn't want to reach so high to get anything out.
Thank you for joining in on my "tour", I hope you enjoyed it.  The space is nice and open with an inviting feel for everyone who enters.
Dale had even worked at getting the basement bathroom working so that the ladies do not need to go up stairs to use the spare bathroom.  As of the 14th we have been here for one month.  I think that we accomplished quite a lot in these 4 weeks.
Thanks for stopping by!
