Baby Ensemble

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Yesterday I had the privilege of holding a brand new baby!  Baby Kadex is my "birthday buddy" Kaitlyn's first baby, and I couldn't wait to 'get my hands on him.' Sorry about the dark picture but I forgot to bring my camera so my (not so smart) phone had to be good enough.

This is the ensemble of gifts I put together for him.  My pen pal embroidered the little robots on his onesies to match the cute bag, boxer shorts, bib and burp cloth.  Then I found a somewhat coordinating sippy cup and pacifiers to fit in the pockets.

These are the thank you notes that I made for her using the cogs from the stamp set CLOCKWORKS and a non SU robot stamp my friend owns. The notes I used are the NOTE CARDS AND ENVELOPES #107311 $5.95 FOR A PACKAGE OF 20, which measure 3 1/2" x 5".  The sentiment is from the NEW stamp set CUDDLES AND KISSES in the Spring Catalog #127314 $18.95 Clear mount or #127312 $25.95 Wood mount

Guest Stamper - Becky C

This cute card was made by Becky C, my dear Pen Pal and friend who is also in my Stampin' Up! down line.  I love it when the girls share their creations with me.  Becky used the NEW stamp set Oh, Whale! that is in the Spring catalog along with the Happy Whale Sizzlit Die, and Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Paper.
Great job Becky!
This cute whale stamp reminds me of our recent trip to Florida and spending a day at Sea World with my hubby, my sis and her hubby.  The Shamu show was amazing!

You're Out of This World, Valentine!

Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Wouldn't this be a fun treat for the kids to bring instead of a store bought manufactured valentine?  I used my Owl Builder Punch to create little Aliens.  The greeting says "You're out of this world."

Tyler is making these same little aliens for his class this year except he will have M and M's and Skittles insides his 1x8 cello bags.  He is doing a great job and proclaimed "this crafting stuff is fun!"
A boy after my own heart.  Now to get busy on Gracie's Valentines for her class.

Update: Yeah! I had three wonderful friends join me yesterday for COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAYS!  I'm so excited and can't wait for this idea to catch on!  We had so much fun and it made my day way less lonely.  Thanks gals!!

Love Notes

Tuesday, January 29, 2013
Quite some time ago (a couple years at least) I found these little metal mailboxes at a Dollar Spot, and thought it was about time I used them up.  I covered them with some Designer Paper, and filled them with some cute 3x3 love notes.  They for sale right now at the USED TO BE NEW consignment shop for only $6.00

Valentine Friendship Cocoa

Monday, January 28, 2013

POEM:
A little cup of cocoa
I'm sending your way,
for your to sip and enjoy
On some cold lonely day.
It's warmth will warm your heart
Just like our friendship warms mine
Right from the start
Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm sure I will be using this same pattern for the Christmas Craft Sales and my Snowman soup.  It was simple and easy.  I gleaned this idea and pattern from Chris Twing.  I have seen it on other blogs such as Becky Roberts, but Chris' blog it the one that actually gave me the dimensions.  I figured this gave me a great chance to use up some retired Designer Paper.

Playing with the Red Hot Stampers again today!
This is the sketch we had to work with...

Do you remember this cute e-card my sweet hubby sent me using the Simply Sent App for his iphone?  Click HERE to see that post.  I had printed it out and it has been sitting on my work table all this time.  Guess it gave me inspiration for each day.  When this sketch challenge came up I thought it would be perfect to recycle it.

Click HERE to see what the other Red Hot Stampers came up with for this challenge.

BLOG CANDY! Everyone who participates with us in the sketch challenges for January will be entered into a drawing. On February 1st the winner of the January Blog Candy will be announced. What is the blog candy? Why a FREE Double “D” Bow Maker of course! (sorry but only US participants).  Use the Mr Linky on the Red Hot Blog to upload your card or project.

Praying For You

Saturday, January 26, 2013

When I stopped in to the USED TO BE NEW Consignment Shop to check my card rack out I found a few empty spots and one type card that seemed to sell out was anything to do with Praying For You, Get Well, or Sympathy.  So I borrowed the PRAYING HANDS Stamp Set from my friend, Sue, and cranked out some simple cards that could be either masculine or feminine.  This card was cased from a Split Coast stamper from New Mexico, sorry I do not have her name to give her credit.  The Sentiment is from the stamp set BLESSINGS FROM HEAVEN.

Please Come

Friday, January 25, 2013
These are the invitations that we made for our Women's Retreat AKA Grace Girl's Get Away.  I just love the new Doilies that Stampin' Up! now carries in the Spring Catalog #129399 only $2.95 for 24 great quality doilies.
So now you need to use your imagination...multiply this card by 240!  yes, that is how many cards we made!  We usually have 110-120 who attend, but we make sure to invite EVERY woman (post high school age) who attends our church.  This truly was a labor of love as six ladies gathered on two different evenings to assemble these invitations.
Looking forward to a great weekend immersed in the Word of God with this many women.

Make A Cake

Thursday, January 24, 2013
Our grand daughter, Gracie, loves the new(ish) Tangled movie of Rapunzel, especially the lanterns that light up the sky every year on Rapunzel's birthday.  So the Patio Party Designer Paper reminds me of Gracie.  The stamp set I used is called MAKE A CAKE.  The Happy Birthday banner is from ITTY BITTY BANNERS, and I used the coordinating BITTY BANNERS FRAMELITS. The bottom and top layer on the cake was stamped onto the designer paper, cut out, and adhered.
Card inspired by Lisa Winemiller who was inspired by Shelly Johnson (see I'm not the only one who cases another talented demonstrator) :)

This card was designed by Linda L, my newest recruit!  I love the creativity she has with the hearts.  Guess what stamp set she used...PERFECTLY PRESERVED!! Who would have guessed it!! She stamped the apple and then punched the hearts from that image!  Creative!  I am very happy to have Linda on my team!

Bordering On Romance

Originally, I was going to use this card (inspired by ? ) in a class to teach how to watercolor but it just never happened, but I still wanted to share it with you.  I love the elegance of this card.  Sometimes the Doily Die can be temperamental, but on this occasion it cooperated.

Stamp Set: Bordering on Romance, Perfectly Penned
Card Stock: Whisper White, Rose Red, Basic Black
Ink: Staz On (you always want to use Staz On Black anytime you watercolor with water or a blender pen or else your colors will bleed into the black), Rose Red, Wild Wasabi
Tools and Accessories: Paper Doily Sizzlit, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Rose Red Seam Binding, Large Scallop Edgelit, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder
Do you like my double bow?  Click HERE to buy a Double D Bow Maker from my buddy Dean

Today is another chance to play along with the Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge!  Do you like it??
This is what we had to work with...

I thought it would be fun to pull out one of my new stamp sets and give it a whirl.  I put Crystal Effects over the face of the watch and cut it out after I let it dry over night, then popped it on top of another stamped image.  The back ground is also from CLOCKWORKS stamp set.  I think this will come in very handy for making some masculine cards.
Now Click HERE to see what the other gals did with their Red Hot Sketch Challenge this week

Turning Your Dreams Into An Address

Saturday, January 19, 2013
This card was created for a real estate agent who loves to give a card and gift to the people who she helps purchase a new home.  She came up with the sentiment "Turning your dreams into an address" so I had to generate those on the computer. My friend Melissa actually did all the work once we got the card designed.  The little branch seen through the window is from THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.  This was the first card we made but ended up using a little different lace "curtain", but this was my favorite.  The window and sill was made by stamping Early Espresso Ink onto Crumb Cake Card Stock using the WOODGRAIN  back ground stamp then punching 1 1/4" squares for the windows.

Figment of My Imagination

Friday, January 18, 2013
My Hubby and I had a wonderful, relaxing time in Florida recently.  We were able to share a Disney Resort (Old Key West) Condo with my sister and her hubby and spend some much needed time together. (I only get to see her about twice a year so this was super special).  The guys were hilarious as they share a similar fun-loving demeanor.
Dale and I went to EPCOT alone while Sis and Hubby crashed trying to recover from the flu/cough/cold thing going around.  We created this FIGMENT (of our imagination) on a screen and they emailed it to us.  I am one of those crazy people who likes to name everything - I mean EVERYTHING!  Tina Marie is the name we gave to the lovely woman's voice on my hubby's iphone GPS so it was good to put a FIGMENT to the name!! haha!!  Isn't she cute! Just a little Angel - she would never lead us astray - right!! We were very thankful to have her guiding our way in Florida, that's for sure.

Here are a few pictures of us having fun in Florida... We visited the Florida Mall which is home to the M and M World Store. Just think how delicious a life-size M and M would taste!!  YUM!!

A pretty view at EPCOT...
SEA WORLD!
My Physical Therapist will be glad I didn't go on any of these neck-jerking rides...but the guys sure enjoyed it!

SISTERS!!
A WALK THROUGH WEKIWA SPRINGS STATE PARK
Me and my hubby - 35 years and going strong!
Sis and Hubby! celebrating 40 years this March!  God has been so faithful!!
Thursday Night I joined the group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators for the Manager's Reception at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  It was pretty dark so didn't take many pictures.
One creative stamper shared this Harry Potter themed card on the demo boards

Friday and Saturday were filled with General Sessions, and Break out Classes, all helping us to increase and enhance our business.  It is amazing how many things they shared that really could be applied to all areas of life.  The best one that I took home was "Make the next right choice."  I can use this in my Stampin' Business as well as my personal and family life.

Thanks for joining me as I reminisced about our trip!

Love you

Thursday, January 17, 2013
Now that Christmas Season is over I needed to replace all the Christmas cards in my card rack at the Consignment Shop with some Valentine cards.  If you live in my area (Hudsonville, MI) it would be GREAT to have you stop in and check it out.  It is called USED TO BE NEW and is in the Cherry Street Plaza by Family Fare.  Remember, word of mouth is the best advertising so pass it on to your friends and family.  For those of you who are not in my area and you see a card I post on my blog, I will gladly mail out a special order, just respond to this blog, but be sure to give me your contact info.  Valentine's Day will be here before you know it!!
