Happy Birthday Kelly!

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Today is my Kelly’s 14th birthday. I say “My” Kelly because she was the first little baby girl that came to Auntie’s day care way back in 1997 at 3 months old. Kelly is more like a grand daughter than just ‘one of the kids’ – a very special girl indeed. Kelly was never the “Little Princess” like many little girls, she was more into dinosaurs and she loved wolves. When I saw this layout I thought it would be a great card for Kelly. Click here to see how to do the gate fold technique.
I originally saw this card idea by Karen Howard on Splitcoast. You can check out her blog here.

248

248?

What could 248 mean? Well... that is how many cards are tucked away in these two boxes ready to be picked up. I am so thankful for this gal who gives me a HUGE order every year as she sends cards out to all of her clients.

Some of the cards were for masculine birthday - here is a sample of one she is buying...

Some of the cards were feminine and here is a sample of one of the cards she is buying...

And the rest of what she is buying is a Thank You/Happy Anniversary for the date when the client signed on with her and her company. Here is a sample of one of the cards in this catagory...

The most fun part is that we are also her clients so when our birthday or when the anniversary comes around of when we signed on as her client we actually receive one of my cards in the mail.
I can think of no higher compliment!!

Did I tell you I love this business!!

Look What Came In My Mail

Saturday, December 4, 2010
Thursday, as I answered the front door, I found a package waiting for me from my Secret Santa. She must know that I am always downstairs with the kids and wouldn't catch her delivering.
She gave me this cute Shadow Box card with a Christian fiction novel. Thank you Secret Santa - I can't wait to find out who you are when we have our revealing party next week.

Here is a close up of the shadow box card - don't you just love those fun snowmen?!!!

Then yesterday I got another sweet note in my mailbox - this time from Glenda.

Isn't this a cute card for a Red Hot Stamper!! (can you see the 'bling' on her necklace and ring?) See that it says "Congratulations" on it?? Well, during this last big promotional push from Stampin' Up! I was so thankful to have three great ladies sign on under me!! Glenda's congratulation was to tell me that I promoted to MANAGER!! I now have 6 gals in my first down line and one in my second. How exciting!! Glenda has been such a great example of what it is to be a leader and I am sure I will learn more in January when I go to Leadership Conference in Nashville Tennessee. To say I am a bit scared or maybe just a little apprehensive is mild to say the least because now I will be holding my own down line meeting each month for the ladies here in my home. Everyone can still go to Glenda's quarterly, but now it will be up to me to inform the ladies of the latest specials and events and encourage them to do their very best and give them the tools in which to do so. I know they will miss being able to go to Glenda's each month 'cuz she is such a fun gal, but I also know that with a little tutoring from Glenda I will do the best job that I can, and I am sure I will learn along the way - just like she had to do when she signed on 7 years ago.
Thank you Glenda - you really are the best!!

Joyeux Noel

Friday, December 3, 2010
For several years now we have been sponsoring a young girl from Bolivia through Compassion International. I love receiving her sweet notes of thanks and telling me how she is doing. I have been sending her cards, but then I thought how much more fun it would be to send her one in her own language. One of the perks of being a demonstrator is that we get free stamps, so this time I thought I would get one in Spanish so I could use it especially for Noemy.

Then I went one step farther and asked one of my young college friends who is minoring in Spanish to translate the saying from the Come To Bethlehem set, which says...

"Giving thanks for God's Gift of Love and the joy we share through Christ our Lord.

and put that inside her card...

I hope she likes it!

Happy Bird-day

Thursday, December 2, 2010
Yesterday we had our first snowfall of the season, even though it isn't technically winter yet, so I thought I would show you how cute Charlie looks in his winter coat and jester style hat.

Looks like Charlie is sporting a five o'clock shadow...NO! he just REALLY enjoyed his frozen blueberry snack yesterday!! It's been a while since I did a Charlie post so thought you might like to see how big he is getting. Almost 14 months now and he is taking steps.

Charlie also likes his new buddy Eli, but Eli really isn't quite sure about Charlie yet, but I did capture this picture that I thought was cute.

At 4 months old now, Eli is over 15#. It has been so long ago, (24-31 yrs) that my kids were babies, but I looked up their growth register and all three of them weighed less at 4 months than Eli does.

Since I am sharing pictures of the day care kids here are a couple more...
This is my helper Julia - she really is fun to have and at 2 1/2 she is the oldest one that comes during the days (except for Aiden who is in kindergarten and only comes for breakfast and all day Tuesday)
Julia really enjoys her ice cream snack, and when I was snapping a picture of Charlie with blueberries all over his face she said "me too" so this is the picture we took.

And this is CalebAt 11 months (almost) he is also taking steps and is the happiest baby! He gives the BEST hugs!!

So now into the card posting for today...

I must admit that Fall really is my favorite season of the year, but the one thing I like best about Spring is when the birds return and you can hear their beautiful songs. So I guess with this card I am saying 'good-bye' to the birds "see you again next spring."
The picture is a bit blurry so doesn't truly show the bright colors in the Sweet Pea Designer paper.

MENU:
SS: Whimsical Words
CS: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Rose Red, Sweet Pea DSP (retired)
INK: Chocolate Chip, same ink as the papers I used and sponged the edges of everything
Accessories: 2 Step XL Bird Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Trio Flower Punch, XL Fancy Flower Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Basic Pearls, Dimensionals

Our church is considered a big church, not a mega church, but we do have quite a large number of attenders. In order to maintain an intimate small church feel we have this wonderful committee in charge of hostessing a baby shower for first time mothers. Last night was one of those special nights. This is the card I made for her (you can see they are expecting a baby boy)

and when I saw this cute baby buggy gift card holder I couldn't resist making one up for her.

What a cute little set this made up.
