OCTOBER!!!
The Designer Series Paper was a BIG HIT during September.
As much as I tried and as much as you all tried to help me out, I was not able to achieve the Incentive Trip to Maui - *sigh*
Well, I will give it a try for next year and this time it will be a Caribbean Cruise! I would love that one too!! I'm even taking some training - we will see if that helps

Faux Silk

I love the Faux Silk Technique and when I saw Deb Valder share it on her blog using the YOU'VE GOT THIS Stamp Set I had to give it another go.  I love how it turned out.  The array of pearls really give it a finished look.  I added a Happy Birthday greeting to mine because it just seemed pretty blank without a sentiment.

Once again I pulled out my retired SIMPLY SKETCHED for the birthday wishes.  Love it?! check it out!!

Sentimental Sunday

Today's Sentimental Sunday Post is for my friend, Laura, who recently had to say "good-bye" to her mom.  It is always hard to loose a loved one, but I love how they made it a celebration, because that is exactly what it is.  No more pain and suffering.  Laura was our neighbor for several years and I was their child care provider for most of those years, loving every minute with those boys.  It was handy living right next door to them and Little Joey would come over even when he wasn't in my care.  He would hop up on the table and watch me when I decorated a cake asking me questions about what I was going to use each color frosting for.  And then, of course, he got to sample them all.  Hard to believe he is 15 years old already and big brother, Nick, (who was in 1st grade when he started coming to Auntie's house) is getting married in January.  WOW! how time truly does fly!!
We purchased a pretty red rose bush for Laura to plant to remember her mom by.

And this is the card that I made for her.  She loved the Calla Lilies from the REMARKABLE YOU Stamp Set. The Sympathy greeting is from the retired stamp set SIMPLY SKETCHED

The beautiful lattice on the background is from a retired Stampin' Up! kit.  If I could get my hands on more of those I surely would, because I think this card turned out beautiful using the Mint Macron Card Stock (NEW 2015-17 in color)

Stippled Thank You

The one card that I have a hard time keeping on hand is sympathy cards and it is sometimes so very hard to make them because of the emotion that surrounds the occasion.  This time I made a batch of sympathy cards up to have on hand, just hoping I will not have to send one for a long time.  It all started when I wanted to make a Thank You card for a young gal in our church who sang "ABOVE ALL" for our talent night last week.  Since the chorus of the song talks about a rose I thought I would incorporate the STIPPLED BLOSSOM Stamp Set.  Checking out all the ideas I found on Stampin' Connection I landed on this pretty one by Lisa Young

The rest I made up as Sympathy Cards

 I had a little bit of Primrose Petals Ribbon left so it worked out perfectly.

Come Stamp With Me

It's another Tuesday and it is time again for COME STAMP WITH ME TUESDAY!!  These are the cards that we will be making...

The fabulous stampers that I was inspired by are... Beth Suhr from Splitcoast Stampers, Chat Wszelaki, Gretchen Barron, and a sketch challenge by Sheryl Dreyer of Splitcoast Stampers.

Gently Falling

 A few weeks ago we had our pictures taken with our grand kids in the beautiful Spring Grove Park.  This is the park that I have taken many photos of my day care kids - especially in the fall when the leaves are beautiful and abundant.  We started this tradition when Tyler was 18 months old so each year we can see how everyone has changed in the past year.  So here are two cards that I made using the Birch paper that comes in the THANKFUL TABLESCAPE SIMPLY CREATED KIT #133463 $19.95 found on page 18 of the Holiday Catalog.

And here are a few pictures of that were taken that day!

Giraffe #4

As of yesterday Gracie is officially 8 years old! I can hardly believe how fast these past 8 years have flown.  Since it is technically still Gracie' birthday week I thought I would share with you one more giraffe card - and yes, once again I used the giraffe skin DUCT TAPE.

This was a sketch I saw on Linda Schnabel's blog so adapted it for the giraffes

My sweet friend, Becky, sewed this purse and lap quilt for Gracie.  She loves it that they both have her name on them.  The body pillow fits her lengthwise perfectly - she is a very tiny 8 year old

Simply Sketched Sympathy

I absolutely love the way this card turned out, and yet sad for the occasion that it is intended for. This card and MANY more are for sale at the USED TO BE NEW Consignment Shop in Hudsonville.  Won't you come and support me by buying my hand stamped cards?!  They are only $2.00 each!! What a great way to help out a friend and keep your business local.  I saw a stamp at a craft store that said "If this card wasn't so cute it would be a Hallmark" (or something like that) I had to laugh because if you buy a card at the HM store you pay at least twice the price.  This way you get a great deal for a HAND STAMPED CARD plus you help out a local gal (me!) to support her business!

Happy 100th Birthday!

My cousin and aunt wanted to send a birthday card for a special lady that used to attend their church who was celebrating 100 years!! Can you imagine??!!  I was thrilled when they asked me to make some cards for this precious senior saint.

Flash Back Friday

I've seen on some other blogs that I follow that they will have a "Flashback Friday" post featuring a retired stamp set, so I thought I would show one of the cards that we made in the last couple weeks at my COME STAMP WITH ME Tuesday class.

This stamp set called FLORES SUAVES was one in the Spanish Version of the Stampin' Up! Catalog a couple years ago.  The Words in the background are all in Spanish which is cool because I sponsor a 14 year old girl in Bolivia through Compassion International.  I don't have a Spanish "Happy Birthday" stamp, but I mail Noemy a card every month to encourage her and send a verse that will strengthen her faith.

 Inspired by Jennifer Conrad.  YEAH! for the amazing LOVELY AS A TREE stamp set that returned once again - it is the most loved and versatile stamp set Stampin' Up! has (in my opinion), and Welcome to a NEW Hostess Stamp Set SIMPLY SKETCHED, and NEW embellishments called CANDY DOTS.  They are perfect for adding the look of a brad but not the bulk. (and no, they are not candy, they just resemble the yummy sugar dots we had as kids)

Inspired by Dora Visky.  WELCOME to a NEW Background Stamp WILDFLOWER MEADOW! Love this stamp! and it has a coordinating Textured Embossing Folder.  On this card, though, we stamped it with Versa Mark and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.  The sentiment - from the favorite TEENY TINY WISHES!
