Happiness Abounds

I've said it before and I will say it again ... With the LAST CHANCE LIST out, you will find that the papers and inks go fastest.   

I thought that I should feature some the gorgeous designer papers that are retiring.

One day (or probably more like 2 or 3 days) I played with the HUES OF HAPPINESS Designer Paper.

It coordinates with the HAPPINESS ABOUNDS stamp set and dies

I remember when this paper first came out I pegged it as the paper that would be the most popular. I surly don't think that I was wrong.

Here are some of the cards that I made with the papers that I had left...

On this first card I brought out my (retired) BIRCH background stamp for that front piece. This card is based directly on the card that you seen on the front of the current Annual Catalog, but I was all out of the patterned paper that they used. 

Card #2 I pulled out the gold rings that I had left over from a previous catalog

The designer paper was embossed with the PAINTED TEXTURE Embossing Folder. Amazing how that simple embossing gives your card so much texture.

The meeting was cut out from the STYLISH SHAPES DIES.

GOOD NEWS... the PAINTED TEXTURE embossing folder and the BRASS BUTTERFLIES are staying, and will be in the new annual catalog for an entire year! I love these because they are flat and don't add bulk to you card they just add so much. Inspired by Tracy

Card #3 just lets the designer paper do the work for you. Inspired by Tracy

I love a good slim lime card - and this one doesn't disappoint. However I am disappointed that my "BIRTHDAY" is crooked. The stamp set used is called BIGGEST WISH. Inspired by France Martin

This next card is one I set out for the ladies on Tuesday. I didn't have too many of the flowers left so I set this one out as an extra, but I sure do love it.

The Bermuda Bay color is retiring, but the embossing folder and the dies (Scalloped Contours & Natural Prints) are in the new catalog. Inspired by Sharni Haines

The SPLIT CARD (2 pack) dies and the BEAUTIFUL SHAPES Dies both used on this card and they are both on the LAST CHANCE LIST, as well as the colors MINT MACARON and SOF SUCCULENT. The GO TOGREETINGS Stamp Set will be found in the new catalog as well. 

I know that not everyone is fortunate enough to still have their mom to celebrate Mother's Day with, and I am one of those. I certainly do miss her, but I know that I will see her again one day. I still decided to put this card out (inspired by Stampers World)

I figure it is just as important to send out Mother's Day cards to my daughter and my daughter-in-laws.

The BRICK & MORTAR Embossing Folder is on the LAST CHANCE LIST and the doilies have been retired for a while. So glad that I had some on hand to use for this card

The look achieved on the brick portion is by inking up the embossing folder with white craft ink and then run through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.

"Happy Mother's Day" comes from DAFFODIL DAYDREAMS which is also on the LAST CHANCE List.

Happiness Abounds for a Wintery Birthday Card

Today's card was inspired by Peggy Noe

The ladies who come to my Tuesday classes really do not like to do watercoloring so I thought that I would just give this card a try for myself.

My watercoloring skills are "acceptable", but I also do not have as much patience that is needed for a good watercolor talent. However - I really like how this turned out. My flowers are a bit darker than the card I cased, but it works for me.

Happiness Abounds Beautiful Flowers

This card is a little bit bigger than our standard 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" A2 Cards

The finished measurement is 5-3/4" square.

This card was inspired by Karen and features the beautiful flowers from the Hues of Happiness Designer Paper as well as the Blossoming Happiness Dies (bundled with the Happiness Abounds stamp set). How fun is this!! I also used some of the silver stripe specialty paper that we got free during Sale a bration. 

The sentiment I chose is from Ringed With Nature stamp set, and cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies (retired)

Is It Too Early For An Easter Card?

I shared this card with you on an earlier post

When I fussy cut out these floral pieces, I had some side pieces left over. What to do?

I was able to cut enough triangles to make 4 cards. I used the Stitched Triangles Dies for my triangles and the Seasonal Layers Dies for the Happy Birthday. The stamp set for the Happy Birthday is Go To Greetings and was stamped with Merry Merlot Ink.

NOW... the flip side to this designer paper is a brushed green

Not a lot of pieces left but I thought it would make good grasses.

I took a look through all my the ideas I had set aside and decided to think ahead and make an Easter card inspired by Su Mohr

The grasses and butterflies were cut using the dies from the Daffodil Dies and the "Easter Blessing" is from Daffodil Daydreams stamp set.

I did pull out the retired Ornate Layers dies and the (also retired) In Good Taste Designer Paper for the cross. I followed Su's instructions by layering the designer paper onto card stock to make it more stable and then cut 2 pieces that are 4" long and 2 pieces that are 3" long. I did a little bit of trimming on the ends. I used Old Olive for the sentiment and for the splatter, but the card base is Pear Pizzazz. I found some patterned paper for the butterflies. One is from Pretty Prints, another from Hues of Happiness and the final one (the yellow print) is from Design a Daydream (the hostess exclusive pack of 12x12 designer paper from the annual catalog) Want to get your hands on some of this exclusive paper? Pink Sunflowers?

I was on another rabbit trail again - at least this trail was a little shorter than that last one. I decided to work with the Awash in Beauty designer paper, and made this card for one of my upcoming Tuesday classes. This one was inspired by Sue Campfield

I had a bunch of strips left over and then remembered a layout from Ruth Trice, a demonstrator from Wales, that Inez and I met when we went to New Orleans for BackStage.

This was her card - she made her flower with the ladybug punch!!

The strips that were on the flip side of the designer paper I used on my first card were blushing bride with a white grid print.

I cut my strips 1/4" wide and placed them on the front a little closer than Ruth's.

Then I just needed to come up with a flower, and I did not want to make the flower with the ladybug punch. 

I cut the blushing bride piece from the back side of one of the patterns in the Awash in Beauty 

DSP, topped it with black, and added leaves of Granny Apple Green. 

I thought it needed a little "bling" so I added some Iridescent Pearls.

Measurements:

Basic Black: 3-3/4" x 5" embossed with TIMBER Embossing Folder

Basic Black 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"

Base also in basic black 4-1/4" x 11".

I glued the first two layers together then attached them to the base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I loved this so much, and I was able to make 13 cards with my leftover strips, that I am planning to take them with me to OnStage in Indianapolis in November as a swap card.
