Look Who's Turning 100 Years Old Today! 

                                                     1944

Only 18 years old

Taken on Father's Day

I made some cards for him:

Dad loved to hunt - I grew up on eating wild game

Dad had a love of lighthouses - He probably appreciated them because he was in the Navy in WW11. Serving as Seaman 1st Class on the USS Harry F Bauer which was a mine sweeper ship.

Dad loved to fish 

Growing up we had a mural painted on our wall of a lake with trees and he requested to have a small boat on the edge of the lake. It was a beautiful mural - absolutely huge! I sure wish that I had a picture of the mural, because the new owners covered it up with paneling. I remember as a little girl, watching the artist paint that mural on our wall. It was such a calming presence.

I created some inside sentiments for him as well

Happy Birthday, Daddy! what an amazing legacy you are leaving to your four daughters.

We held an open house on Saturday with family coming in from several states to honor him.

We also opened it up for friends and family from church and our cousins. Dad is the last remaining Uncle from both sides of the family, and we were so blessed that so many came out to honor him.

He met our mom while he was on leave after boot camp and they corresponded over the next two years that he was deployed. He never kept the letters that she sent him, but my mom saved every last bit and it is so sweet how he signed each letter to her "With Oceans of Love and a Kiss on Every Wave." They married within months of his returning home in July 1946.

They were married for 72 years before my mom passed away from dementia in 2018. 

Four girls! and being the youngest daughter, I never felt like he thought "oh I wish I had a boy" 

Growing up loved is so important, but when I asked him recently if there was anything that he would've changed if he could go back, he said that he would have spent less time in the woods (or on the lake) and be more present in our lives as we were growing up. 

All I know is that he was always there for the important stuff, and today he says how very blessed he is for each of us.

So here's to 100 years!! We never know how many years the Lord will afford him, but we treasure the times we can still be with him.

He now resides is a small home for veterans which is still considered independent living. 

Oftentimes he is asked what is his secret for such a long life (and how good he still looks) He will instantly recite Proverbs 3:5-6 "trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path". I absolutely love this!!

Velvet Meadows

 The VELVET MEADOWS Designer Paper is so stunning!

All of the Stampin' Up! designer papers are gorgeous, sometimes it's hard to know which one to play with first/

I love to take someone's design and tweak it for my Tuesday Stampers.

This particular card was inspired by Debra Harrison 

She made her card a fun fold with several layers, but I chose to pare it down, making it not quite so bulky for mailing.

The measurements that I came up with are:

Card Base: Cloud Cover 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4

Velvet Meadows DSP: 2" x 5-1/4" x two designs

Cloud Cover: 4-1/4 x 3

DSP: 4 x 2-3/4

Scalloped Blooms die in Basic White

The flowers & leaves were fussy cut from a sheet of the designer paper

I also changed up the sentiment, using a retired set called KEEPING TABS. There are 3 varieties in that set that fit well in the die from Scalloped Blooms. My stampers can always choose what is best for them. 

The cute little butterfly is from All Aflutter and shaped in Berry Burst ink.

The embellishments are called Dreamy Flowers.

The designer paper has some flocking on it, so therefore it is considered a Specialty Paper.

Beautifully Celebrated

This card was inspired by Kate Morgan from Australia.

I have made this style before but in a different orientation.

Since Kate used her instructions in CM I had to figure out the measurements myself.

I will share them with you here:

Base: Petal Pink: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at 1" & 4-1/4"

On the 1" score line cut down using your Trimmer 1-1/2" from top and bottom, then snip those pieces out like you see here:

Designer Paper front: 3" x 5-1/4"

                          Inside left: 3" x 5-1/4"

                          Right side: 1-1/4" x 5-1/4"

Basic White Inside: 3" x 5-1/4"

Stamp Set: Simply Beautiful

Dies: Beautifully Celebrated. I used Flirty Flamingo but wished I had used Crisp Cantaloupe  - either way it still matches and there are shades of each of these colors in the DSP.

Other: Array of Dots, Gold Embossing Powder, Versa Mark & Embossing Buddy.

Beautiful Ordinary Life

Today I am featuring 3 cards using the BEAUTIFUL ORDINARY LIFE Designer Series Paper.

My original intention was to NOT purchase this pack of paper, but when I saw this first card inspired by Peggy Noe, I knew that I just HAD to invest.

This card also features the leafy die cut from NATURE'S SYMPHONY, a sentiment from PHRASES & FRAMES & the BORDERED IN BEAUTY Bundle. After taking this photo I added a little "bling" using up some of my retired products. I also love the touch of the GOLD STRIPED RIBBON.

I changed up the front by cutting my Designer Paper 5-1/4 x 4 then die cutting the border. Peggy's card covered the whole front except for the tiny bit on the right hand side, but by cutting it my way, I saved on DSP and was able to make 12 cards from two sheets of DSP. 

Card #2 features the ALL AFLUTTER Bundle - I love bundles that come with a punch - so much simpler than running everything through with a die.

I cut my white center piece at 5-1/4" x 2-3/4" then used the tear technique, and it ended up being approx. 2" wide.

I was inspired by Tracy Komitc on Pinterest - no blog post, no measurements, but this was a standard card and easy to figure out the basic dimensions. And oh, how I love polka dots!!

The butterflies were stamped onto one of the sheets of Designer Paper, then punched out. Couldn't be easier than that!! I pulled out whatever Pool Party dots I could find on hand to add to the front. I changed up the sentiment and, believe it or not, I added less dots than Tracy had on hers!

Card #3 - super sweet, inspired again by Peggy Noe. 

Wow did I ever change this one up! and yet it looks the same!!

Peggy's card was an accordion style card, which is super fun, but took up more DSP than I wanted to, AND... I know that my Tuesday stampers prefer the basic style cards.

I changed up the sentiment - using one from PHRASES & FRAMES, and I'm not sure what butterfly Peggy used (she didn't list it) but I used a die from the (retired) SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES in Basic Black.

The measurements for the front pieces of the card are:

Petal Pink: 4-1/4 x 3

DSP: 4 x 2-3/4

Darling Duckling Ribbon

Flirty Flamingo Ink

Berry Botanicals Vellum Cards

The BERRY BOTANICALS VELLUM 12x12 SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER was the Product of the Month for May 2026. At the time that I am writing this post, this product is still available for only $5 when you place a minimum purchase of $75.

I have so many ideas just waiting to be made for my Tuesday Stampers, and I finally buckled down to create these

Some were cased from Pinterest & others I created on my own.

Like this book binding card. Cards #1 & #3 were cased from Mary Fish. Card #1 - I changed up the sentiment choosing this thank you from SUNSHINE & TULIPS (which is now on the Last Chance List)

Card #2 I used a sentiment from PRAYERS & PROMISES

I changed up the sentiment on this next card using one from SUNSET COAST

And this fun fold card below - I received a card for my birthday last year with this fun fold, and just loved it and knew that I could recreate it someday. I used the birthday greeting from a retired set called SKETCHED BUTTERFLIES, and backed it with one of the SCALLOPED BLOOMS DIE.

Later, I found out that this fun fold was created by Laura Seki

Tuck & Fold Card

This is a fun to make Fun-Fold card that is called Tuck & Fold.

This first card uses the DELICATE WHISPERS BUNDLE and the DELICATE DREAMS DSP. I think that this designer paper is so stunning, and it has elements of copper in it, therefore it is considered a Specialty Paper. - These items (from both sets) are in the ONLINE EXCLUSIVES and are still available to purchase.

The card opens opposite so I wonder how many of my Tuesday stampers with "get it" - no worries, I am always there to help!!

I heat embossed the image on the right with copper embossing powder then added 3 of the die cut flowers (Secret Sea)

What I changed up is the inside sentiment, but I kept the same sentiment for the front - all from DELICATE DREAMS Stamp Set.

A second version of this card uses the HOMEMADE SWEETNESS DSP and the FILLED WITH SWEETNESS BUNDLE.

 I love the elegance of the first card, but I love the sweetness of the second card. I did a bunch of fussy cutting for card #2, but on the first card there is a lot of die cutting.  I think that I like the fussy cutting better, but am thankful for the "bonus" dies that come with the bundles. I call them bonus dies because there is no stamped image that goes with them.
