Sweet Saturday

Saturday, December 3, 2016
Last Saturday we had a surprise Baby Shower to celebrate our sweet Lilyanna Katherine who is now 1 month old already.
I will post more photos on my blog tomorrow but for our Sweet Saturday post I wanted to show you the cake that my cousin, Dawn, made for our special occasion.
Little Lily slept through most of the festivities.
Sawyers favorite part of the evening was playing with the pink balloons.  We all loved hearing his 2 year old giggles

One week ago Gracie celebrated her 11th birthday.  Instead of a family birthday party she chose to have a dance party with her friends.
This is the cake that I made for them to devour.
Oh, YUM!!  Twix on the outside and M&M's on top of a French Vanilla Cake!  The easiest cake I've ever made!! and no piping the edges (which I cannot do right now because of a trigger finger)

LAST CHANCE!! and Sentimental Sunday

Sunday, July 31, 2016
Do you remember my post from this past Wednesday when I celebrated my daddy's 90th birthday?!!
On Friday night three of us four sisters and our hubbies celebrated his special occasion with cake and ice cream.  Man, was he surprised when I showed up with this cake!!
I have shared before that my daddy's nick name is JITTER from a way-back comic strip monkey that his "friends" tagged on him because they thought that he looked like that monkey!  Who needs enemies - right??
Jitter monkey cake was too cute to cut!!  I could have made it a banana cake because monkey's like bananas, but my daddy's favorite flavor is LEMON, so lemon it is (was) and it was delicious!!  When he said "I love your cakes" it made my day!!

This is from a wedding that my cousin, Dawn, and I did in June.
I am so thankful that Dawn does the fancy stacked cakes for the Bride and Groom and I do the sheet cakes, or in this case, cupcakes, that are served to the guests.
The florist was there when Dawn delivered the cake and was able to catch a photo of the finished product.  We don't always have that privilege.  Not all the cupcakes are shown because I had to make 150 of them!!  WHEW!!
Next wedding I will be making the cupcakes out of my new home!! Can't wait!!
BONUS DAYS start TODAY!! (July 7-31) for every $50 you spend you will get a $5.00 voucher to spend August 3-31 - Just like Kohl's CASH!!

My up line in Stampin' Up! is Glenda Calkins, you may have heard me mention her several times. She is a wonderful up line who helps us out or instructs us when needed.  She holds monthly meetings for her team, just like I do for mine.  She is our biggest cheerleader for our businesses and we appreciate all she does for us!!  Glenda also uses our resources for her own personal needs and that is wonderful too. For example, I make cakes and she will hire me to make them for showers, open houses, birthday's, etc.  Last week I made this cake for their son who is joining the military this month and they wanted to have an open house before he left.
I decided to make the flag using blueberries and strawberries with frosting stars for the white stripes. YUM!  I also made them some Gluten Free cupcakes for family members who need them.
Congratulations, Neal, on your decision to join the Military!

I keep referring back to the fun night we had at church in February called EVENING OF AMORE' - the fund raiser for our youth group.  I was asked to help with a Football Cake project turned into a contest.
It is amazing how loyal sports fans are, and especially within our church they root for University of Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.
One of the young gals at church is only 14 years old and has started her own little business with cupcakes, so she was also asked to join in on the project.  We decided that the cakes should all look the same with the exception of the college logos.  Kaela loves to do the baking so she made the 3- 9x13 cakes as well as 3- 6 inch round cakes for the footballs.  I supplied the cake pans and made all the frosting, then we spent an evening together decorating them

The winning team cake went for $150.00!!  Any guess which team won?!
Here are the results:
Michigan State sold for $100.00
Ohio State sold for $110.00
and University of MICHIGAN won with the $150.00 bid!!
Kaela decorated the footballs with tiny stars which was rather time consuming, but she did not want to venture on making the Varsity Letters on the footballs!  It was a fun night sharing this evening with an up and coming new baker!  You can check her out on Facebook by clicking HERE.

Thank you everyone for the sweet birthday wishes!!  Look at these yummy sweet treats that my friend Jackie gave me!!  Aren't they ADORABLE!!  And Oh, so YUMMY!!

She brought them to the COME STAMP WITH ME CLASS on Tuesday so I could share these with all my friends who came that day!!  It was a snowy day so I was extremely happy with the 3 beautiful ladies who came out to spend time with me.
Congratulations to

Jackie VB for winning the drawing to purchase the Flores Suaves stamp set.  I had my hubby do the drawing to keep me accountable.  Jackie is also getting all of these goodie to boot!!  Since only 3 ladies came out, there were a LOT of leftovers!
Check out a couple of the beautiful hand stamped cards I received this year!! I just love them all!!
This one is from Jackie - how CUTE!!, the treats below are also from her.
This one is not a hand stamped card but I laughed so hard.  It is from my big sister, Judy!
Look at those cute little beach babies!!
This last one is from Shannon West from the Stampin' Up! home office.  She said that she is "bringing birthdays back."  She even created the stamp herself to put on the envelopes.
Stampin' Up! thought it was such a great idea that they are marketing this single stamp.  When they put this stamp on sale (March 1) it totally sold out in 4 hours, but they will be getting more in, so if you are interested in this stamp I will let you know when it will be available again to purchase. Don't you think this is such a great idea!? You can read her story HERE

Last week I was asked to make a cake for a baby shower that my friend was hosting.  (She told me that she never even got a piece because the ladies loved it so much!! - must be the chocolate baby feet!!)
At the same time I was asked to make a FROZEN themed cake for a little girls birthday party.  My cake baking and decorating days have taken a bit of a turn.  I no longer do more than one order at a time, but I have partnered with my very talented cousin and she agreed to make the cake for the little girls birthday.  I think she did a bang up job!  Thanks Dawn!! I do believe I will be sending more orders your way!!
I think we make a pretty good team!
When it comes to weddings, Dawn does the "show cake" for the bride and groom and I do the taste test meeting, and all the 'behind the scenes' cakes or cupcakes.  For me it is a win-win situation!

Today is the day that the kids will all be over to celebrate Christmas together... I just LOVE IT!!  Last night we spent time with my parents over dinner and watching the HOLIDAY INN movie.  But just because it is Christmas time doesn't mean everything else goes on the back burner - so this past week I was asked to make a cake for a bridal shower.   My only instructions were white with silver. What do you think?
Silver sprinkles on the borders and iridescent sprinkles on the top.
Simple, yet elegant.  Not bad for a last minute order!!
Congratulations Andrea and Jordan!

We celebrated Gracie's 10th birthday today!  It sure is fun watching her grow up.
This is the cake that I made for her
After the 10 candles... This is "Wishes" the Shopkin.  Gracie is obcessed with Shopkins and she got several more for gifts.
Jewelry kit from Gramma and Grampa
 Make a wish Gracie!
Originally Gracie wanted her cake to be pink with sprinkles on it!  Perfect!! Nice and easy and then her card matched perfectly.  Last minute Julie found this Shopkin cake so we went with it!!
Oh boy! Uncle Joey and Aunt Melissa gave Gracie the "noisy toy" this year...
Sawyer wanted to get in on the fun of opening gifts
Speaking of Sawyer - he is a man on the move.  So much fun to watch him pick himself up and keep on trying

Recently I had the privilege to teach Kayla, an up and coming cupcake and cake baker how to make frosting roses.  At 14 years old she has already begun a nice little business making delicious, specialty cupcakes, but is really hoping to broaden into cakes as well.
We had fun discussing all the in's an out's of decorating, and selling her cupcakes.
Younger sister, Anna, also wanted to learn and was surprisingly good at frosting roses too.
Little sister, Samantha and sweet little Chopin was our audience.
Mom has been so great helping Kayla get her business off the ground.  I was happy to be a part of helping them out.
I made up a cute little cupcake holder for Kayla to display a cupcake in.
Thanks for stopping by!
