Open House Recap
Friday, June 21, 2013
The OPEN HOUSE yesterday was a great success! While the numbers in attendance wasn't huge, the enthusiasm was contagious and we had so much fun!! Thank you to all who came, I appreciate it so very, very much.
All the ladies who helped me out or came to the OPEN HOUSE signed in on my magnetic chalk board.
The demonstrations included - how to emboss on your Antique Brads #117273 $5.95 (a returning favorite)
Transforming the original (on the right) to the colorful ones you see on the left.
We also played with the NEW Buttons and Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds (#131272 $7.95) and the Simply Pressed Clay (#130685 $6.95)
See the sparkles? I added Dazzling Details to the molds before pressing the clay into them. Lookie how sparkly they are!!
And here is a card made up using some of the Simply Pressed Clay Flowers colored in Daffodil Delight, and featuring the NEW Hostess stamp set BANNER GREETINGS
This card was used for our C3 Challenge this past month
The Make and Take card that the ladies made (inspired by LeeAnn Greff) was a big hit! They were able to try out the NEW Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot which makes using the Framelits SO much easier. It is definitely a MUST HAVE! It also features the stamp sets LACY AND LOVELY and SECRET GARDEN along with the NEW In Colors! FABULOUS!! LOVE the new colors!
The door prize winner for the OPEN HOUSE...
Congratulations Nancy, you won a package of Antique Brads and some Embossing Powder of your choice.
An update on the 50/50 Board: There are only 4 more spaces to be filled before we will do the random draw for a $50 Stampin' Up! product winner!! Who will it be?? We will only know as soon as the board gets filled. I can see it happening soon! Will it be you??
It's been a long, lovely day and I am so thankful to all who made it so special for me.
Thanks for stopping by!

Down Line Challenge
Thursday, May 9, 2013
First things first - Don't forget to sign up for one of the May Classes. Click HERE for the details.
Tuesday I had a meeting with the wonderful gals of Christi's Creative Crew. I appreciate these ladies so very much and I wanted to encourage and challenge them to step out of their comfort zone and hold a Personal Card Making Class (aka workshop) with some friends or family members. So to give them an idea of what they could do at their class we made these three cards to show how you can "step up" from a simple, cute card to giving it the "WOW Factor."
Simply by adding a layer of black card stock and some textured embossing stepped it up one level. In the final card we added a paper doily and some paper piercing. Would the first card be good enough? Absolutely!! but the idea is to show how you can change up your card and give it that "WOW Factor." And now to give credit where credit is due I snagged this idea from Diane Vander Galien, thanks Diane!
When I was cutting out the Apothecary Framelits in preparation for the meeting I ended up with negative images like this...
So I challenged them again to come up with some ideas using these negative images. They each took home 2 Basic Black and 1 Very Vanilla. I can't wait until next month's meeting to see what they all come up with.
This is the first thing I used mine for...
I placed it on the inside of my card and sponged some Pool Party ink inside, giving my birthday greeting a little "something extra." When I put my cards at the store to sell I like to put a sentiment inside and it can be difficult sometimes to come up with something new so they don't all say the same thing. I pulled my KIND AND CARING THOUGHTS retired stamp set out for this cards sentiment.
Stay tuned to tomorrow's post and I will show you the technique that I shared with them that night as well. You are going to LOVE it!!
Thanks for stopping by! and remember...

Artistic Etchings
Monday, May 6, 2013
What do you think might be in this pretty little gold sack?
Here's another clue... Now what could be in this pretty red box?
This is an Eilat Stone - the stone of Israel, sometimes called "King Solomon's Stone." One of the sweet college gals from church spent a college semester there and I asked if she would pick out a ring for me. I love her choice, don't you. The stone is a mixture of green and blue.
I wanted to make something special as a thank you for her so since I knew she loved Paris I wanted to make these cute cards for her (inspired by Erica Clark). This Stamp Set called ARTISTIC ETCHINGS is now on the retired list so if this one has been on your wish list, you have until June 3 to get a set for yourself.
And these Thank You notes deserve a pretty package too
And a thank you from me
Thank you Charis for finding me this lovely ring!!
And Thank you for stopping by!

Watercolor Wash
Thursday, April 4, 2013
I saw this beautiful card on Sandi Mac Iver's blog and wanted to give this new-to-me technique a try, so I copied hers exactly, using SECRET GARDEN and PERFECTLY PENNED stamp sets, Crumb Cake Card Stock and the Print Poetry Designer Paper Pack
When I found it was a fun and easy technique I decided to make another one for a sweet gal who recently became engaged. This time using the LAYERED LABELS stamp set for my sentiment.
Perfect! and yet... Jenna was proposed to at Hilton Head. I wanted something more appropriate for her and David, so I went to work with my BY THE TIDE stamp set. I love the richness of the deep blue but this one suits them better.
Congratulations Jenna and David!
And thanks for stopping by!

Bordering On Romance
Tuesday, January 22, 2013
Originally, I was going to use this card (inspired by ? ) in a class to teach how to watercolor but it just never happened, but I still wanted to share it with you. I love the elegance of this card. Sometimes the Doily Die can be temperamental, but on this occasion it cooperated.
Stamp Set: Bordering on Romance, Perfectly Penned
Card Stock: Whisper White, Rose Red, Basic Black
Ink: Staz On (you always want to use Staz On Black anytime you watercolor with water or a blender pen or else your colors will bleed into the black), Rose Red, Wild Wasabi
Tools and Accessories: Paper Doily Sizzlit, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Rose Red Seam Binding, Large Scallop Edgelit, Vintage Wallpaper Textured Embossing Folder

A Red Hot Christmas Party
Monday, December 10, 2012
Last week was the Christmas Party for the Red Hot Stampers. We had a great time and wonderful food! What's a party without food, right?! This is the lovely gift that I received that night made by a very special Red Hot Stamper, Sarah. I love, love, love these cards and she sure did get a lot of oohs and aahs over her amazing talent.
Glenda gave each of us some of her favorite things and one is these plastic baskets that she uses for her Stamp A Stack Classes, and I must agree they are my favorite too. I am always glad to get more. She gave us this small bag from 31 Gifts which is the perfect size for storing our Embossing Folders and Framelits. She made these cute bags to put our gift in. Don't you just love the versatility of Stampin' Up!'s Designer Paper!!
Thank you Glenda for a super fun night and to Sarah for the beautiful gift!

Betsy's Blossoms
Tuesday, September 11, 2012
This is one of the cards that we made at this months STAMP A STACK classes. It features the stamp set BETSY'S BLOSSOMS and the Designer Paper FLORAL DISTRICT.
This first card is inspired by Anne Granger
This first card is inspired by Anne Granger
After cutting all the pieces I needed for the cards for the class I was left with strips of the Designer Paper that I wonder if I should save or pitch. Well, I guess the Super Saver in me decided to just make up something with them rather than to have them sitting around. This FUNKY FOLD CARD is a great way to use up these pesky scraps.
This one was inspired by a card made by Tricia G Kolarik
Then after I made up a few of these cards I had a teeny tiny bit of scraps left. I pulled out my BRAND NEW 1 1/4" SCALLOP CIRCLE PUNCH from the Holiday Catalog and punched out the flowers and made this card...
WOW! I basically wasted NO paper by creating all of these.

Summer Smooches For Becky
Wednesday, July 11, 2012
You may remember that I mentioned I had the chance to have lunch with my pen pal of over 40 years a while back. She is just the sweetest friend and our friendship has blossomed over all these years. Becky is the one that made the apron and zippered pouches for me that match the bag we got at Leadership using the Summer Smooches Fabric. Remember these photos from my post back in May?
Well, I wanted to make some things for Becky using the leftover fabric and the coordinating Summer Smooch Designer Paper, $10.95 125409
so I went to work putting together some fun treats for my dear Becky.
I started with a card portfolio with 6 cards
